AI reviews summary
The overall sentiment for Amazon Prime Video is overwhelmingly negative, with users expressing significant frustration over recent changes to the service's value proposition. The most prominent grievances centre on the introduction of advertisements for paying subscribers and the requirement to pay additional rental or purchase fees for high-quality content. Significant concerns were also raised regarding deceptive billing practices and a perceived lack of accessible customer support.

Verdict
Amazon Prime Video is currently viewed by consumers as poor value for money due to the combination of mandatory advertising and frequent prompts for additional payments. Potential subscribers should be wary of difficult cancellation processes and inconsistent billing practices.
Great shows, but pathetic. You get involved in a series and watch seasons 1-12. I have to pay more money per episode or season to finish the series? Chicago Fire, Chicago med and Chicago PD. Very rude! Thought Prime was petter than that.
I went to purchase a phone case from Amazon that advertised "Free delivery". When I went to checkout, it wasn't free, it was only free if you agreed to getting one month of free Prime which includes fast free delivery and videos for one month. Most would just click on it, and wouldn't realise that you just signed up to having $9.99 taken out of… Read more
your account automatically after the 1 month free trial. This is obviously false advertising! I wanted the free delivery, so I read the Terms and saw you could immediately cancel. I purchased my phone case and went to cancel. There's a big Cancellation button, and you think you cancelled, but I know to go back into the account and double check it's cancelled. It HADNT CANCELLED. So I clicked the big Cancellation button again, check again and not cancelled. I finally figure out that once you click cancelled and it goes to another screen, you need to scroll all the way to the end of that long screen trying to sell you things to see a SECOND CANCELLATION BUTTON. You need to click on it to cancel, but it's not over yet...another screen where you need to decipher how to cancel. In total there were 5 screens to navigate an unwilling game of "FIND THE CANCEL BUTTON AND PROCEED TO THE NEXT SCREEN". Finally, Amazon Prime couldnt deny me any longer, and after the 5th screen, I checked and it actually had cancelled. I feel so sorry for those that dont understand computers, are not looking out for scam deals, are elderly and not used to the technology, have limited ability to understand complex situations due to health conditions. I think it's apalling that they get away with this legally. They prey on the vulnerable. They prey on the pensioners who dont know how to check their online banking. It should be illegal not to be clear and transparent about how to cancel.
I purchased a one year subscription and then realised I had to still pay for most movies. I cancelled my subscription as a waste of money. Amazon then went and took out another year's subscription even though it was cancelled. It has taken me nearly an hour to sort this out and most people would have given up. Firstly the first 1800 number was… Read more
disconnected, I then had to text with AI ceba and offered multiple times to not continue, then a call that didn't occur. Eventually after much frustration and searching online, I finally spoke to someone (probably being paid 0.50cents per hour & copping disgruntled customers all day) who immediately recognised that the money should not have been taken out and I now have to wait 5-7 days to get my money back that was illegally taken out. I urge you not to give this billionaire another penny and please push through and cancel your subscription.

Last night we sit down to watch the next episode of Night Manager and all we get is a black screen. After an hour of switching things off and on Prime started displaying stuff but some time before we could watch our show. Tonight some very faint content displayed but pulsing and no opportunity to watch anything. Back to switching things off and on for another couple of hours.
Customer service has deteriorated. Photo shows I have one account but billed separately twice and I can’t press the end button as it’s locked and I need to contact customer service. Literally just asking about one month credit for double up payment on my account through Amazon and App Store. I spoke to someone who didn’t care, paid overseas call… Read more
centre, I was told all customers are the same, I said I’m sure they don’t all have my problem, didn’t want to raise a ticket or escalate, he told me he has had the training to make all decisions and nothing he can do. I’m only asking to submit a request for a manger, to see if there is something in this rare circumstance that would allow them to credit the one month since he could see I had two accounts. What happened to customer service, it’s a legit double up and the customer service would go a lot further to customer loyalty. I thought Amazon Prime staff would be better, this is the first time I’ve been disappointed in Amazon as a whole and leaves a sours taste on the ecosystem I use.
Not a great selection. The app is not intuitive and very time consuming for me to get to where I want to be. The Resume button often doesn't resume where I left off. I took the 30 days trial but I wouldn't pay. I will see if I have any trouble when I try to cancel ...

Very very disappointing – Why do we pay a monthly subscription to watch movies on Prime Video but 80% of movies are 'rent or buy'? Absolutely ridiculous!
Follow-up · Despite the numerous negative feedbacks from other customers, Prime has made absolutely no changes.
First we have to now watch commercials then we are made to repeatedly watch horror commercials when no one in the family watches horror at all. Put off by this. Looking at not reviewing Prime in the future if this does not stop.
Follow-up · Adds vary in length Adds sometimes interrupt shows Adds are not skippable
Amazon is Changing the Rules Mid Stream by Forcing Prime Members to Pay for Advertising – Amazon is seriously again trying to scam funds from those who have Prime Memberships. I joined Prime as I felt for the small initial outlay I would benefit from the Prime Video (Advert Free ) Streaming, Free shipping and Offers for shopping. After a… Read more
few months I was offered a discount on my monthly subscription if I paid annually which made sense. When my annual membership came up for renewal I calculated that the $59 cost had definitely been worth the outlay. My Renewals are in February of each year. Half way through the 2nd year Amazon tell me my Subscription to Prime (Best Value Offer ) is increasing to $79 and I challenge them as we have an agreement that I pay $59 per year . Amazon then back off and apologise and my Prime membership continues at the previous rate until the year is up when I then choose to continue and Pay the $79 new fee. A couple of weeks back I get an email stipulating that Amazon is upgrading their content and I will be required to pay and additional $2.99 per month for Advert Free Streaming . I don't watch any live content either Sport or Concerts etc and I contact Amazon as they are doing exactly what they did when they upped my Membership Fee when I already had paid my Annual fee. This would put my Annual Fee for Amazon Prime from $79 up to $115.83.
This is a breach of Australian Consumer Law and I have made my case to Amazon and left it with them to resolve.
Follow-up · Amazon chooses not to engage with Customer Complaints. For example I made a Purchase with FREE Prime Shipping as I have a contract with Amazon Prime and International Free Shipping comes when Amazon Market Place ships the Item from their Warehouse. In a recent purchase from Amazon where Free Shipping was included ,when I received the Parcel there… Read more

Amazon Prime – Love my Cricket, so have to switch from Foxtel to Prime. Well, it's a typical streaming service. The picture quality is not that crisp and strong on my 8K TV. I think having Foxtel over 27 years has spoilt me in terms of picture quality and of course the content. But for $10 per month this is just reviewing the service. It's good. I am just annoyed Foxtel lost the rights to ICC T20 World Cup. Show details

Three months of subscription charges for prime Video and Paramount following cancellation, Bank account now cancelled!!! The usual platitudes, very sorry, etc, can't help due to being unable to see account details etc.,, after account details and cancellations verified by them. Nothing but a pack of liars & thieves, save yourself the grief and inconvenience, not to mention the absolute waste of energy and money.
Zero stars. Avoid at all costs. Impossible to cancel. All old movies and series, anything decent is another extra payment. Do not join, ever. Netflix far superior content and easy to manage subscription. No extra hidden costs.
Amazon Prime is a lot more infuriating than the other streamers... You click on a program to look at it and the BULLING AMAZON sends you to what THEY WANT YOU TO WATCH. If it wasn't for the savings when I buy. I WOULD FLICK THEM OFF LIKE I DO TO FLYS

NO FREAKING JOKE ages ago I was watching Mr Robot like across a few months for free on Prime. One day a few months later I came back and it said I had to purchase each episode or the whole season and I was like tf oh ok. NOW I HAVE BEEN WATCHING TRUE DETECTIVE NIGHT COUNTRY. I was watching it on Prime FOR FREE last night, this morning before work, and now I'm in bed, I reload the tab and it says I HAVE TO FREAKING BUY IT????
I've cancelled both my Amazon Prime subscriptions one in October 2022 and the other April 2025 yet they continue to deduct money from my account each month. I have been in contact with their customer service team on so many occasions to have this matter resolved, nothing has been actioned. Last contact the team member was extremely rude and… Read more
stated this isn't their issue and I will need to discuss with my bank, today I was advised it would be looked into again and I would receive an email, the reply was a generic response as below, this is completely unacceptable, I outlined in detail what the issue was. Clearly Amazon have no intention of taking any action, I'm now left with the only option to cancel my card and have it reissued meaning I have to set up all my direct debits again.
REALLY POOR AMAZON!!!
Hello,
After reviewing your Amazon.com.au account, we did not find any unauthorized activity. As a result, we did not make any changes to your account.
In many cases, what may have appeared to be unauthorized activity could have been one of the following reasons: -- An automatically renewed subscription -- Activity by people you know who share your account or have access to your payment details -- An accidental 1-click purchase -- A charge for an order you had placed previously that just shipped -- A charge for an order placed by a family member or friend using a shared voice-activated device

I can't stand that you pay for streaming service, then have to pay to get rid of ads. Amazon is a greedy company. those advertising. Greedy, greedy billionaires, the sooner these selfish id*ots get their karma the better.
After cancelling my free trial a week before the free trial ended, I received an email confirmation of my cancellation. Over the next few weeks l was billed 3 times for no reason. A total over $30+. For what l do not know. Trying to lodge a response from Amazon is impossible. All l can do is cancell my credit card.

I hate Prime Video, I keep it because it has some good shows. They used to not have ads, now you have to pay more and it absolutely burns my p*ss. I downloaded an app called JustWatch, if there is something I want to watch that is on anything else like Netflix, Binge, Stan, Disney+, I will watch it on there. Services like Prime Video that make you pay extra to have ad free service are scum. Pick your trash up! Show details
Appuling 1st time member last time wont be back to watch any orignal movies etc u have to pay extra i dont think do rediculas and most of the remakes are awfull. Wont be back cancel description was a member for 4 hrs so sad. We no who runs this rubish wont be getting anymore of my money
Forced 30 second ads for something I pay money for. I’m Australian with 1/1000th the options Americans have so I don’t use Amazon prime for shopping. I’d happily pay $5 more to achieve the same results with YouTube $25 a month which I already pay to remove these….. silly greedy fellas

This is a repeat of my previous experience when I tried to subscribe previously. Seems that I have just joined the long list of other dis satisfied customers
Follow-up · The last straw was when subsequent episodes to a program we were watching were not accessible. Email addresses for support obtained from their website were not operating and every attempt to contact support was either not operating or unresponsive. It was evident that there was a deliberate attempt to avoid providing support. We cancelled… Read more
Follow-up · The problems with the funds was resolved and we did receive a refund but again the communication was either absent or very poor. No explanation was received
Do NOT give your credit card details to Amazon's shysters. Without reading the fine print, I ticked the free delivery option of some rubbishy item I bought from Amazon thinking it was just a promotion to allow them to send their advertising material. Soon however I started being billed for Prime Video. This lowbrow streaming service, which has… Read more
nothing worth watching, is relatively inexpensive and I think they hope you will not notice when they start taking money from your account. I have cancelled it twice already, have received a partial refund both times and now I have just been billed again. I will be going to Consumer Affairs but in the meantime I suggest you read carefully before agreeing to anything from Amazon.
WHAT A RIP OFF. Pay more to take ads off and most movies are still locked. How Sneaky are they to allow you to watch one episode of a TV Series free, then you pay to watch the rest. You're a joke !! WILL NOT BE Wasting my money on you.
What's the point in paying $10 for a scrolling screen of tv shows and movies that require further payment? You might get one episode for free, but mostly they have a yellow ticket attached and so $$$. Dreadful selection of free movies and shows that hasn't changed since the last time I had Prime about two years ago.
Highest proportion of unsubtitled programs. I’m hearing impaired and require subtitles to follow programs. I can’t be alone in this. They have some good shows but I can’t watch them !!!!!!
