American Express Platinum Business

Very Disappointing – Not What You Expect from a “Premium” Card I am extremely disappointed with the American Express Business Platinum Card. For a card that markets itself as premium and high-end, the experience has been the complete opposite. Customer service agents are polite and human, but they operate like robots. They simply repeat scripted… Read more
responses and show little understanding of the actual issue. It feels like there is no flexibility or real support when you genuinely need help.
The card advertises “no preset spending limit,” but in reality that doesn’t mean much. When you actually need to spend for your business, transactions can still get declined or restricted. It creates uncertainty and defeats the purpose of having a supposed premium business card.
Another frustrating part is that they constantly ask you to make payments well before the due date just to continue using the card. Instead of functioning like a reliable charge card, it feels like you’re being forced to prepay repeatedly.
Overall, the experience feels misleading. The marketing promises flexibility and premium service, but the reality is restrictive and inconvenient.
Honestly, it feels like a scam for the annual fee they charge. Very disappointing. Shame on Amex for promoting something that doesn’t live up to its reputation.
Just wanted to let everyone know that the insurance provided by Chubb is non existent. Dont rely on this card if you are going overseas. Show details
I have been an AMEX customer since 2018. Last year I spent 2.8 mil on my card, this year over 3 mil. Never a late payment. Up until 5 days ago, I would have rated them 5 stars. However, they suspended my card 5 days ago, due to not providing them certified copies of card holders IDs in time, for a "Know your customer" request. I was extremely busy… Read more
with workload/tenders/deadlines etc, and simply could not get to it on time.
This is on me.
However, immediately after the suspension, I spent thousands of dollars sending staff/supplementary card holders out of the office in the middle of their work day to obtain certified copies of IDs as requested, despite having provided this when signing them up for cards in the first place (the mind boggles). I provided everything AMEX asked for, yet the suspension persists.
Now my inbox is full of accounts and subscriptions being cancelled, suspended, my tolls for my fleet of vehicles are failing, meaning countless toll notices will arrive on my desk, everything attached to the company AMEX cards has now failed.
The AMEX Relationship Cancellation Team (amex.sbsjapa.kyc@aexp.com) do not answer emails. When I phone up, I get little help as I am advised this team does not answer calls internally as well as emails from me apparently. When I just messaged the AMEX online chat just now on day 5, they advise I am still at square one, with the KYC still having to be redone?
This is on AMEX.
AMEX has suspended (read terminated) my facility. I have today accepted that this facility is no longer available to me or my business, a shame after 7 good years, but what can you do. I am researching a new card provider to move my business to urgently. If anyone has recommendations, I pay my bills on time!
7 years of flawless use, never a late payment, millions of dollars spent every year, now gone, along with my trust.
I’ve had a less than desirable experience with Amex this week after a flawless repayment history over the past 24 years. I wasn’t happy nor agreed with Card services response to a decision they made ( without notice or consultstion ) and the operator would not transfer me to a Supervisor or someone higher up to review their response. I was told… Read more
they wouldn’t take my call and that it takes 2 working days for a Supervisor to call me back. I’ve been put in an awkward position by Amex today which has actually cost me money and they have not handled my complaint or current position very well at all. One thing I learnt this week is that you can’t rely on this organization to help you manage your business. I think after this weeks expereince I’ll be seriously considering cancelling the card when the annual fee is due. I don’t need a line of credit but choose to have the card purely to collect points and the benefits. A word of advice for members or those looking to open an account, don’t think for a second that Amex have your back because they don’t. For the record, I’m not in default, I’ve got money in the bank, healthy cash flow and can pay my account in full ( and have ) every single month. BEWARE, you have been warned. This card is NOT what they advertise on their website and the $1750 PA Card Fee is absolutely no worth it unless you just like the shiny metal card and status symbol that goes with it. There are better value cards in the market with better customer service.
Velocity Scam – Offered bonus points with Velocity to sign up to a business card, from just having a personal card. Marketing email and team said points eligible if you spend over 5k, previous business card holders excluded. I spent 15k, never been a business card holder, and then was told I'm ineligible because I already have an Amex, even though the offer was… Read more
for existing card members. Tried to resolve with customer service for weeks, and even spoke with their general counsel in the end via Linkedin but it ended with their customer service calling me and leaving voicemails with a disconnected number to call them back.
Very happy with Amex – 2 x have used Amex for travel and 1 for fraud. They were efficient as was Chubb their insurer. Claim with all absolutely necessary info and documents is a must. Refunded in approx 3 to 4 weeks. Cost of goes towards flights. Amex and Chubb Thank you. Show details
Don't Waste Your Time – What they don't tell you is that your credit limit constantly changes. They frequently suspend the card whenever they feel like it, leaving you stranded & embarrassed. Their credit team are rude and condescending and treat you like a criminal. The annual fee is not worth is, because you are unlikely to have use of the card all the time. If you are… Read more
late, you are charged 6% penalty. If you are with them for many years and spend a lot of money it makes no difference. The travel insurance is a nightmare, as Chubb make claims almost impossible.
much worse than it used to be – Recently this card 1. Increased annual fee to $1750 2. Cancelled the ability to take a guest into the Amex international airport lounges 3. Cancelled the annual $400 travel credit 4. Replaced the onlline subscription to Australian Financial review with a subscription to the Australian 5. In Australian domestic airports, where there is no lounge… Read more
access, the "benefit" of the Priority Pass at airport restaurants has been severely curtailed (if someone sits at your table you will be charged a $37 "guest fee") 6. the "premium" hotel status is virtually worthless as hotel chains now reserve their benefits for higher-status categories 7. Amex Travel cannot make same day hotel bookings and room rates are frequently higher than on booking.com We have enjoyed this card while the benefits largely offset the cost of membership, but no longer. We will cancel our membership.
The worst credit card I've ever encountered!!!! – I cannot understand how any legitimate business can function with this card. Firstly the fees are staggering. $1400+ per year (as opposed to $400 per year for the Westpac equivalent of the same card). Secondly, of course, it is frequently not accepted by vendors, making it very unreliable to pay suppliers and requiring me to carry a secondary… Read more
mastercard for such situations. Thirdly the ONLY way to pay this card balance is via BPAY. As a business, I can move upwards of $50k a month through this card and the BPAY transactions are painfully slow (several business days) and EXTREMELY expensive. If you combine both the bpay fee and the merchant fee on each transaction, you're actually paying considerably more for items than you would otherwise. Lastly, and this is the kicker for me, the card has no set limit... it has a limit... but they won't tell you what it is, and it will randomly fluctuate. This means when you go to pay a supplier, it could randomly decide you're over your limit and simply refuse the transaction without any warning. The only way to resolve this is to then BPAY an amount onto the card (an amount they won't actually tell you - you have to guess how much the balance will have to be in order to start working again) and then wait several business days for the Bpay to show up before trying again and *possibly* the card then working. This is the most unreliable, and unprofessional way to run a credit card I have ever seen. An absolute farce of a product - I was thrilled to cancel mine. Absolute joke.
SCAM!!!! – Do not buy into American Express telling you there are numerous "perks" to this card!! They will get your $450 fee then change your terms and/or set limitations on your business card regardless of Perfect payment history. I am disgusted by the con they provided me with. I could've made my business purchases through such better offers....and… Read more
one that does not need to be paid in full in 19 days! Do not fall for this one! Much better terms & perks out there! The unlimited purchase ablility of day-to-day buying American Express reserves the right to change your terms at any moment
