AstralPool Viron XT Series

Did NOT work for me. Pool builder's choice of equipment. Electronic panel board FAILED 3 weeks shy of 3yrs warranty... still "NOT HAPPY JAN"! Then takes another 5-10days to schedule a technician. Hello? This is the main pool pump and is still in the swimming season (summer!).
Follow-up · Swapped out the faulty control panel for new - fixed.
Pump is failing after only 4 years. It makes a terrible noise. It was used on a tiny plunge pool, so it only ever ran on the low speed for 4 hours per day. AstralPool claims "Longer Pump Life" and "Whisper quiet", it is deafeningly loud and failing. Disappointing, will never buy anything from AstralPool again. Show details
This pump has a flawed design. The seals go at the pump impeller on a regular basis requiring a pump rebuild every 18 months to 2 years. Bought the pump new. Got a replacement after 3 months after new one destroyed itself. The warranty replacement pump was old and in pretty bad shape which keeps Astral's customer service as crap as their pump.… Read more
They actually have a video on the internet showing you how to replace the seal and bearing which is nice of them but is really just an admission of the required regular maintenance of their crap pump. The warranty is 2 years which is about it's life cycle without a rebuild. 6 years 2 pumps + 3 rebuilds for seal replacement. Some of the claims from the astral website are as follows 1. Two sizes to suit the most demanding applications. True I suppose. 2. Save on operating costs and carbon emissions. Lie since your crap pump is destined for landfill. 3. High peformance overdrive mode and fas priming programs. Lie nothing is high performance with this pump it's a complete stinking lemon. 4. Whisper quiet operation (until the front bearing starts screaming after impellar seal failure) so a lie. 5. Longer pump and equipment life. - How Astral can right this on their website is a great big fat porky pie. 6.Climate Care Certified by SPASA Australia. They must pay for this crap. Although I suppose I could reuse the pump as a somewhat oversize paper weight.
Bearings went after 4 1/2 years – Tim the other people’s reviews I believe true as my bearings went after 4 1/2 years one day pump quit next day noisey and day 2 I had to turn pump off due to the noise A new one is $1900 and only 2 year warranty Show details
Failed after 4 years – Motor went after 4 years, was told it would last 10! Show details
Not worth the expense – I bought the pump for its variable speed and assumed it was high-quality. Within two years, it made a strange sound and the bearings were replaced under warranty. After 3.5 years, the computer board connection screw points slipped lower into the pump motor and cost $400 to repair, now being out of warranty. I am disappointed with the quality and components for the price. My previous pump from Bunnings was cheaper and lasted six years. Show details
Lasted 6 years – This was a very expensive pump and I was sold on the idea of the variable speed. In the end, the pump needed to run at full speed all the time, or the chlorinator cell would not completely fill with water and burn out. The pool cleaners also only work with high water flow so the low speeds are pointless. The electronics burnt out and to replace… Read more
the PCD was over $700 dollars and this would be a waste of money as the pump and motor would probably fail next. Don't waste money on expensive pumps, just buy cheap ones and replace them every 4-5 years you will save heaps.
Viron P320xt Pool pump – Nothing but trouble from install with our new pool. It is only 2 1/2 yrs old and already onto second set of bearings. Product support is painful and slow. Very disappointed Show details
This pump is no good – I get no support from company i bought pool from and they only wont to sell me a new one. Had trouble just in warranty but it started working again and they did not come out to look at. Pump ok but fault with circuit board.
Pump is working ok – Pump working ok so far. Having some issues with chlorinator. Show details
Viron xt520 – Pump bearings & display printed circuit board failed after 3 half years Had bearings replaced & contacted Fluidra Group & spoke to Jenny Jenny was very helpful & sent out replacement drive for pump running like new Jenny was fantastic to deal with. Good result Show details
Overpriced, loud and not efficient – DONT WASTE YOU`R MONEY...Extremely noisy!, required 2900 to 3000 rpm to move the pool cleaner (mx8) at a very low speed using 1200+watts where as my old 8 year old Onga 1.5hp pump moved it with ease and used 755 watts. And they call this pump EFFICENT (MISLEADING ADVERTISING)... What a joke. Going back to the pool shop for a refund. 1 day old Show details
Only lasted 4 years – After 4 years the bearings were making a noise. Pool shop said it couldn’t be fixed. One of the main plates had corrosion and so they could service it. The pump was in a pool box so was never in rain. Show details
They couldn’t service the pump. Bought a Waterco pump

Needs replacing after just three years! – The noisiest pump which annoys the hell out of me let alone the neighbours! Have been told that the bearings have gone on it and apparently this is a common fault with the pump. Can’t replace the bearings due to the casing it’s in. Can’t get any service from the Pool guy that installed it and can’t seem to get through to the manufacturer. Avoid at all costs. Show details
Seven years is poor in my opinion – Brought the pump from Poolwerx was told that it was the latest and greatest and would save me heaps of money in running cost back in 2015 Well the pump is noisy and now the speed is continually varying up-and-down erratically by it self And it’s now making a howling sound like the bearings are on the way out When I went to Poolwerx and told them… Read more
that the pump was only seven years old they said that was about the normal life expectancy and that was typical Well I have been around a little while and I have seen pumps last for 20 years so considering that the replacement on my time is $2500 I don’t think it’s a good deal and a good pump for only seven years Now doing some research trying to find out what a good pump is
OK Pump - but terrible support – Do NOT exepct ANY support from this company. Purchased the Astral Pools Viron C520 pump series as part of a turn key pool from Compass Pools - promised that the variable speed pump system would save thousands in ongoing running costs. 1 month ago, less than 4 years after installation the pump failed and my problems began; I attempted to ring… Read more
Astral Pools seven (7) times before finally getting through - only to be told that Astral pools did not do out of warranty repairs, they KINDLY put me onto their service agent, who a week later told me the motor had failed and the whole unit would need to be replaced as the motor was no longer made.... Another two calls to Astral Pools then email, NO response.... I purchased another unit from a different supplier, who said the pump should have lasted 10 years or more..... So I emailed the company, who flatly refused to take responsibility...because I had not given them the opportunity to look at the pump prior to replacement !!!!!
SO now I am commencing proceedings with QCAT, lets see how stupid they look when I provide print outs of my Optus Account and the email correspondence....
