Burnt lips – Really disappointed with this product. Bought it because I wanted something leak proof. Sure the screw on lid is, but the flip cap is not. And something you use daily that has to be pulled apart to be cleaned! Perfect coffee cup – I have three of these cups they are brilliant. I’m on the hunt for a new one as one has died after 5 years of every day use. Best lid ever, clips tight, doesn’t leak, travels sideways in my handbag quite a bit. Lid comes apart fully so all if the seals can be cleaned properly. Very highly recommended. Show details

seal the drinking "hole" and a breather. The lever activates a spring loaded rubber seal (inside the cup) like the seals used in double walled metal thermos flasks lids. (see pix) WEIGHT: - 225g empty. CAPACITY: - 236ml to an internal fill line - space has to be allowed for the lid to screw on & seal so it should never be filled to the brim. IN USE: THE SEAL... I made sure before purchasing that the seal pulled up evenly when the lever closed. A good indicator of a good seal is this: Put the lid on, close the seal, then try and unscrew the lid - it should be easier to unscrew with the lever open, rather than closed. Accordingly, with a good seal, you can trust that this cup does not leak - I've tipped it upside down - nothing (unless you overfilled it and there was a little bit of liquid inside the cap.) Having tried other keep cups that have "seals" - one version is branded with the shop name and just relies on an insulating rubber grip and another plastic version from a well known discount supermarket - none of them I dared to tip even on a small angle and were certainly not shatterproof - either the glass broke or the plastic leaked. STAYING HOT?COLD: = yes - works as it should - its not in the performance range of a real glass vacuum flask (fragile) but your tea/coffee will stay at a drinkable temp for at least 3/4 hour. Some of the boiling coffee from vendors that you can't drink stays too hot for quite a while - so the double walled insulation is good. DURABILITY: Accidentally dropped it while crossing the road from a coffee shop. only minor scratches and stayed intact, no leaks. CLEANING: The lever on top is designed to pull backwards when it is fully open (you do need to help it a little by taking the pressure off the spring by pushing up the sealing part from below) see pix disassembled. You can then use your chosen cleaning products - the internal parts will stain, either with tannin from tea or the oils from coffee - as long as you keep it healthy the discolouration won't matter. The rubber used in these type of seals seems to absorb the oils (my pressure cooker is the same) but I have not detected any taste influences on the contents - I drink black coffee/tea so there's no chance of stale milk affecting the internals. TRIM & APPEARANCE - well I'm losing a little of the rose colour off mine, but it doesn't affect the functionality of the cup. OVERALL: Works as expected, has lasted well to date (+12 months). The cup is great, the lid is not so great – The cup seems to be good quality and it keeps drinks hot for ages. Very happy with that. It also has not leaked as yet. But you need to disassemble the lid every time you clean it which is a bit of a pain! Show details

Good, but not without its flaws – This travel mug is definitely an upgrade to the dodgy merchandise one I was using earlier. Holds the temperature very well. Still allows small amount liquid though when tipped over. Cons: - The rubber seal does stop the liquid spilling out when the cap is closed. Unfortunately the vent hole still allows some liquid through. - All metal part resist stains, but the spring and rubber seal do not. The rubber seal and spring have to be cleaned often.
Keeps my tea hot for hours – I don’t need a travel mug as I’m a home-loving retiree. I do love my cups of tea, but I keep forgetting and they get stone cold. elsewhere, I ordered one from Amazon - a pretty pastel blue with pink cherry blossoms.
I liked that you can take the lid apart to clean, and the instructions were clear. Initially, I had trouble pressing the lid to depress the spring to allow the sipper to be detached, but my son showed me how to lay the lid flat on the table, press down and slip the sipper out - much easier with arthritic fingers.
As reviewed on this site, the new mug had a metallic and plasticky smell and taste despite washing well before use. However, the metallic smell and taste disappeared after several washings.
Initially, I used the lid. But it kept my tea too hot to be drinkable immediately, so I gave the lid the flick and use a silicon lid from Daiso. Perfect.
I can now make a big mug of tea and drink that slowly (or rather, whenever I remember) over a couple of hours without it getting stone cold. With the silicon lid, my tea is still pleasantly warm at the 3 hour mark.
If I have a complaint, it’s that tea doesn’t taste the best from a metal cup. I fancy tea tastes best from a porcelain teacup. Now, if only there is thermal porcelain mug ....
Lid leaks and doesn’t close properly – These cups are not cheap and I expected better. In a very short time my lid began to leak and I burnt myself that often. Then the lid wouldn’t close. They are supposed to have a warranty on them but of course who keeps the receipt for a mug? I just won’t be recommending or buying again. Show details
Unhealthy lid! – Yes it keeps your coffee good and hot, and yes it does not leak. But how do you clean the lid? I dont recall getting instructions when purchased and there seems to be no way to pull the lid apart to clean out the (milk) coffee that has to flow through it. I have just soaked mine in a bleach solution for a few hours but it still smells and all sort of junk is coming out of the lid. Show details
RUBBER SEAL SMELLS. DONT BUY – NOT worth the $20 price. Rubber seal has this burnt plastic smell and I can almost taste it with my coffee. Not very pleasant. Also this require more maintenance because you have to disassemble the cup top and clean the inside. With other similar product you don't have to. Show details
Gets Smelly! – I have found it definitely keeps the coffee hot but the issue was after using daily Mon-Fri and washing it out every day the seal and rubber leave a terrible smell and then you can't get rid of it. Indestructable – Drove over it twice in my car (both reversed and forward), still fully functional. Harder than a cat's head. Avanti should make bullet proof vests. Would buy again and highly recommend. 5 stars!

putting it all back together quite straightford. The UNDESIRABLE experience I've had though, is that the coffee flavour and taste is definitely different from that served in a ceramic cup. I have to admit, I'm very fussy about my coffee, and if it's not good, I won't drink it (even though having paid for it). So, if you are used to the flavour and taste of 'good coffee', your experiences with this cup may not be so tantalizing in that regard. Such a shame that the inner layer of this cup is not made of glass or ceramic. Now checking online again to see if I can find something more suitable to my taste.

hold, good capacity and the flip cap locks securely while you're not drinking from it. It's also a fraction of the price of the supposedly 'best' American ones. Very pleased with our purchase.

The best one I have purchased so far! – After trying out quite a few "so-called" double insulated cups, it was indeed surprising to get a cup that will keep my hot drinks actually hot for more than 20 minutes! So good – This is the fourth reuseable cup I have tried over the past few years. They have cost me anything from $8-$50. This product is the best by a multiple of 10! Dismantling the lid for cleaning took a little getting used to - but worth the effort when using milk in the coffee.
