Has been a great machine – I use this machine for a variety of projects. Basic upholstery repairs and recovering jobs, face masks, repairs on my soft tool bags, making bags outdoor games, repairing the holes in my work shorts, etc. I don’t really do a lot other than these tasks but I do these tasks a lot. My wife loves this machine and uses it for dolls, bears, costumes and… Read more

clothes, the kids carry bags, pencil cases and many other craft type projects that are probably more inline with the generic use for this machine. She is far better than I am and this machine complements her work more than it does mine.

Fabrics I use range from duck weave canvas, thick canvass, a large range of upholstery fabrics, faux furs, cottons, drill fabrics, velours, cottons and suede. It has handles all these incredibly well.

This machine replaced my older mechanical one as the main go to earlier this year as. It has been nothing short of excellent with all the use it has taken. The decorative stitching and lettering features are rather handy, especially when fulfilling the seemingly endless requests to make face masks for friends and family, or the people at work or the kids friends. The features are also excellent for my custom items. I am by no means an expert and this is by no means an industrial machine however it is more than adequate for what I do for now.

Brother FS 101 – I looked around for a new sewing machine, one that was computerized and of coarse well priced. I have had a Brother machine before and I had no issues with it so was drawn to this brand and model the FS 101. It had a 100 built in stitches, a quick set bobbin and a needle threader all of which was standard for this price range. This model stood out… Read more

as it had the 55 character stitches which the others didn't have. This enables the machine to write words, I've had fun making labels and personalizing gifts for my family. Love this it is so much fun and this machine can be controlled by a touch of a button, just unplug the cable for the foot pedal. Buttons for 3 speed sewing, reverse and a needle up and down button. It came with a few different feet attachments but I did purchase separately a Walking Foot so that I could try quilting, this machine handles most fabrics with ease. I would recommend this to anyone, beginners or advanced, a great machine at a great price, especially when you get it on sale :-)

Rubbish! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!! – Purchased this machine at Spotlight thinking I was getting something decent. Sure the full price of $699 ($499 with club card) isn't a lot for a computerised machine BUT I expected something that would sew properly. I mean to say it has ALL the bells and whistles but doesn't perform to match. It misses stitches and loops on 1 side.I tried… Read more

adjusting the top tension but it made little difference so took it back and complained to a sales woman and she went to work testing it.

She firstly blamed the cotton saying I need to use GUTERMANN then said I need to nurse it not rush it. Why then does it have 3 speeds one of which is fast? She was happy with the way she had it sewing so sent me on my way!

I purchased Gutermann cotton and tried that at home. Still missing stitches and looping!

It also has letters for monograming, I tried this and the stitching is so bad and SMALL it's not possible to distinguish what it's meant to be.

I will NEVER BUY ANOTHER MACHINE FROM SPOTLIGHT nor will I purchase BROTHER brand machines again!

I used to like sewing but this machine has changed that as the work it does is the worst I've ever seen in my 40+ years of sewing!
