Cote D'Or Bouchee

SO SAD TO SEE THE DECLINE OF A ONCE WONDERFUL CHOCOLATE – I have been eating these for many years (decades even) and after a couple of years bought a small box for mother's day. Very disappointing. They used to be expensive, but good. No longer. The company has sacrificed quality for cost. They used to be about twice the size, and had a rich creamy centre. Bucchee Lait Milk Chocolate – So disappointing to see such a wonderful product reduce in size over the years, I wonder how much smaller can they go and continue to deceive consumers. This is not the only product that I have noticed in food reduced in size and price has increased.

Sickly sweet – I haven't bought these chocolates for a few years. Today I thought I'd treat myself and purchased a box of them from Coles for $5.00. with a grainy texture to the filling. The outer layer of chocolate tastes like cheap chocolate. I shared the chocolates with family, and we all thought the same. I looked at the box to see where they were made: Slovakia! Obviously the recipe has changed and inferior ingredients used. Will not purchase again. mouth as it once did. Chocolate now tastes akin to a cheap Easter egg you’d give to young kids. The filling is much more bland tasting and not nearly as smooth. New packaging also mimics the new flavour & texture- cheap, boring and unappealing. All these changes have significantly decreased enjoyment level. They are also much smaller!! I was more than happy to pay the extra few dollars for quality sweets, disappointing.

What was once delicious chocolate praline is now awful! – These chocolates used to be beautiful. Light and creamy praline centre with a good quality chocolate coating. Change in taste and texture – These were my favorite chocolates for years. Recently, the flavor has changed, the chocolate is not smooth. The interior is dry. There used to be a very slight salty edge to the chocolate but that’s gone. Now it’s just very sweet! The chocolates used yo be made in Belgium, now in Poland. Has the receipe changed? Stop using palm oil – My favourite chocolate as a child in France but I'm done buying it until they stop using palm oil. Interestingly, the ingredient list for FR, IT, DE, NL, ... (i.e. all of the EU) mentions palm oil as the vegetable fat while the AU/NZ ingredients doesn't. It just lists "Vegetable Fat" with no further details just like the Coles page… Read more

The Australian packaging legislation needs to get in sync with the EU and mandate manufacturers to specify if palm oil is used.

My favourite chocolate – I love this chocolate at room temperature. The centre melts on my tongue and resembles another one of my favourites Lindt Milk Chocolate. Only better! I find it hard to stop at just one. Absolutely decadent. Show details

between a Malteser bunny (arguably one of the most delicious chocolates known to man) and a dark chocolate lindt ball (not my favourite due to its richness and ‘in-your-faceness’ with its dark chocolate). I think the Bouchee is quite nice served slightly chilled although I think it’s a personal preference thing when it comes to chocolate temperature. I have no idea what the filling inside is; at first I was worried that it was marzipan (which is one of my most hated sweets), but I think I’ll need to have a second one to really understand what that filling is made of. I would certainly cap myself at two of those chocolates per day, but as I’m writing this, I’m getting a similar after taste to a Ferrero rocher, again, anther confectionary that is arguably within the top 5 of all confectionaries. I can’t bring myself to put this item in the low or average range of quality or preference due to reminding me of two of my favourite chocolates. How could one classify something that reminds them of Malteser bunnies and Ferrero rochers into the mid-range category? It can’t be done. The Cote D’or Bouchee deserves an 8/10; unlikely to be changed after my second one.

gentle species of urangutans devastating their homes. These gentle animals and their babies are being butchered - literally hacked to pieces with machetes in many cases - just to produce palm oil that goes into the majority of chocolates just like Bouchee. This ingredient is tantamount to eating poison and I feel sick that I have contributed to the devastation it's production is causing globally by purchasing Cote D'Or chocolates. Had I known these chocolates contained this ingredient I would never have purchased a single box. As other reviewers have also mentioned the size has decreased in recent times. This I could live with but the palm oil, no way. Wake up Mondelez International and stop using palm oil!!

tasty but not the best – Too sweet and lacks choc flavour. OK compared to Lindt and better than Cadbury or Nestle. Not outstanding compared to Godiva chocolate which cost a lot more. Individually wrapped in sealed foil so it keeps better. Show details

Ecstasy orgasm delight – Reluctantly bought one for the very first time from Woolworths the other day. I ate it with tea and drifted away to paradise and back. Love the centre praline, not too sweet, amazing texture (keep it at room temperature). Thank you who ever for designing this beauty. I'm in love and I'm picky. different in texture. I have also read that palm oil is used in them. Kraft are quite shocking in what they are doing to former quality products. Cadbury chocolates are not the same either since they got their hands of them. The ordinary Cadbury milk chocolate bar when Kraft bought it, became shortly after, a different shape consistency and texture with a shiny surface and it tasted not so good at all. I don't buy Cadbury's any more.

Used to be my favorite but will not support mistreatment of animals – As much as I once loved these chocolates, I wont be buying this product again whilst ever it contains palm oil.

Smaller and different – Used to love these but they've changed - chocolate and consistency. Also shrunk in size and they've changed the packaging to disguise the fact that they're smaller. Won't buy again.

The finest chocolate you will ever taste – I was bought these chocolates for my birthday...and I must say my husband and I share half of the chocolate and that is enough absolutely satisfy's the taste buds....now that is perfect chocolate when you only need a smidgen to satisfy....

Better than Lindt balls – Product 5 stars. Price 2 stars. Hard to find but worth searching for. A box of 8 for $6.40 at Woolworths isn't cheap which is why they don't have a larger fan base but if you buy a box you'll be their newest fan. Note* owned by Mondelez (Cadbury)

Palm oil kills orangutangs – Too sweet. Too small. Contains palm oil. Now buying Toblerone, why? N palm oil? And sharing so watch your profits plummet through your cruelty to orangutangs.

Now has palm oil - won't touch it – I used to buy a packet of these every other week. Just realised they contain palm oil, I will never buy them again. Pay attention Kraft foods.

Bouchée chocolate has shrunk – Not happy with the way these chocolates have suddenly shrunk and how the wrapping has changed .. They do not look as elegant any more ... Cheap looking really .. The chocolate is also a little light on as well. So disappointed with what used to be our favourite chocolate. OMG – My husband bought these home the other night saying they were his favourite chocolates and hasn't been able to find them for ever. I was slightly skeptical as we have been together for 8 years and he hasn't bought them before....can't believe he has been holding out on me for so long. I am a dark choc fan but these are so delicious I am finding it hard to stop at one! My new indulgence!!!

Terrible – I don't buy them for the family. We dislike the fattiness and sweetness of these chocolates. They are quite large too and it's all a bit much. The packaging and the shape of the chocolate Oh dear, these for me were way too smooth and fatty in the mouth. Very European in style (not surprising really as they are European...)

Excellent – Cote D'Or Bouchee fall into the mid priced range of chocolate, but I'd place them up there with one of the finest chocolates I have ever enjoyed. designed into the subtle shape of a little elephant. More expensive than some other chocolates on the grocery shelf, making it more of a 'treat' purchase - and/or an amazing, well-received gift. I don't think these are advertised enough, therefore many consumers have no idea what they are missing out on.
