5 Leonie  · Perfect taste – Most important the taste is great not like other low fat milk. My bad cholesterol has gone down.
1 Linda  · Tastes strange – Has the plant and equipment been cleaned with a strong disinfectant or some other reason for the milk to taste strange and different?
1 Jordan  · Chemical Taste since Aug 2022 – I loved this milk but I’m finding it really hard to drink now.
1 MKL  · Awful taste now – This used to be a great product - but now it has a chemical taste that is horrible. I’ve thrown it all away… shame.
4 julie.toth59  · I love this milk BUT .....5/8/22 – returned from being out of stock now has chemical taste!

I’ve been drinking 1 L of this milk every day for decades. Can’t believe that they’ve changed the carton which is now difficult to open often getting splashed with milk and also now has extra plastic added to the product. Have already changed to an alternative.

Love the milk but why did the packaging change? The all-cardboard pack was just fine – now it has a plastic screw cap and an annoying plastic/foil piece you have to pull out to open it (and the new shape is just stupid). In this day and age with public awareness and concern growing around waste / pollution / microplastics, why on earth would you make this retrograde step? Tell your marketing team to maybe think about the planet. Show details

I’ve been buying Heart Active milk for many many years. I buy it for my elderly mother as well. We both HATE the new packaging and have now switched brands. Why would you change something that worked to a more complex/plastic opening system? Goodbye Dairy Farmers products Show details

Cholesterol levels have dropped from 8.7 to 3.8 – I have an inhetited Cholestetol problem and have always had a problem taking statins in tablet/capsule form. I end up with heartburn and painful muscle ache in legs and have just refused to take them. Now use Dairy Farmers in my coffee and otherwise, daily, and have seen my cholesterol levels go from 8.7 to 3.8. My Doctors (GP and Cardiac… Read more

Specialist) are extremely happy with this positive outcome. So, I no longer use other milk and highly recommend Dairy Farmers Heart Active because I even find the taste good.

Yippee! The original heart active formula is back – So relieved - the original hear active milk is back. My old post complaining about the weird taste is below. All good now!!! I have been drinking heart smart milk for years and then a couple of months ago I kept buying the milk and throwing it away because it had a horrible taste. Then it disappeared from the shelves of every supermarket. It… Read more

just came back. It tastes a bit better now so they must have adjusted the formula. It still doesn’t taste quite right though. I don’t think I can drink it which is a shame. The original heart smart milk was delicious - this version still isn’t. We need the original formula back.

Dairy farner's heart milk – This product was off the shelf in Coles supermarket for nearly 2 weeks. I bought 6 cartons when it finally got back on the shelf as this is usually my favorite milk for many reasons but the taste is so horrible it makes me feel like i am drinking perfume. It makes my coffee taste horrible. I will be taking it back to the store i purchased it from… Read more

What have they done? They must have listened to everybody’s feedback – Dairy farmer have rectified the flavour back to what it’s original creamy delicious flavour. The below feedback is no longer valid. The milk has been off the shelves for a few weeks now at Woolies and when I went to Aldi on Wednesday I purchased 3 cartons just in case. Come the next morning, made my coffee, had… Read more

a sip and it tastedreal bad. I checked the expiration date, fine, then smelled the open carton and it had an over whelming glue like smell to it which represented the the vile taste exactly. I phone Bega and asked if they had changed the recipe, no was the answer, the guy did advise something about the cartons not being out of stock and that was why it hadn’t been on the shelves. He took all my detail and sent me a link which is here. PS. Probably very good, but . . . expensive – Based on what others have written, and on the fact that doctors (inc. mine) recommend it, this is probably a very good product, as a low-fat milk with added benefits. Assuming the principle is valid - that the "phytosterols" (from plants) in this will compete for absorption in your gut with "cholesterols" (from animals) - use of this milk should… Read more

be great for anyone with current or potential cholesterol issues.

But it comes in 1 litre cartons only, and is twice as expensive (by $/volume) as my regular low fat milk (2 litre bottles). It is also 50% more expensive than the comparable Aldi alternative. So for me, it is an occasional use item, even though I would prefer to make it full-time. The manufacturers would be well advised to start selling it in 2 litre bottles, and at a reduced price. What they might lose in profit per unit would be more than made up for in increased sales volume. And with an aging population, there should be an ever increasing market out there for them (unless they fail to compete with others, like Aldi, as they materialise).

Pretty ordinary milk - then it threw a curve ball by delivering me a 'thing' – I found out my cholesterol has climbed up to about 6.5. So in the hypochondriac way all my eating habits have been changed and my doctor is ripping their hair out and my new dietician has drawn me up a plan. I have been on a strict diet of lettuce, carrots, what looks and tastes like hay and other green roughage since my blood test came back a… Read more

little high.

I have been gritting and bearing with the use of this milk since my initial blood test and have been using the 'heart active' milk and other things, and have found out since that my cholesterol hasn't really gone down. This based on 6 months of use of multiple 'sterol' containing products that claim to reduce cholesterol absorption.

So this morning I went to make a coffee which I do every morning, I lament using this milk (Heart Active) as it makes my plungered coffee taste terrible (and because its so expensive and tastes poorly), I had a half used bottle with a Use Before of the 14th June (today being the 30th May) opened Wednesday 28th. I proceeded to make my coffee as usual, added water and all that and when it came to pouring the milk everything went fine until a 'bloop'; something came out other than milk and spilled my coffee everywhere and this gelatinous thing went into my coffee cup from the carton of Heart Active milk.

When I poured the coffee out and fished the gelatinous blob out it looked / looks like a clear blob or akin to a jelly fish you come across on the beach. I have emailed the company and have not received a call back - would have expected some kind of response 4 hours later.

Will be forfeiting my care for this milk and going back to something I can trust with my eyes and go back to enjoying the real taste of milk again.

I have pictures if anyone wants to verify this claim of the gelatinous thing I found in my bottle of Heart Active. Marketing claim that it reduces cholesterol and tastes like milk Expensive, tastes like watered down milk and has no body, gelatinous 'thing' came from the carton... Spurious QA...

The best milk in every way – I'm a lifelong milk drinker (having grown up on dairy farms), but since getting a bit older and having some cholesterol issues, I thought I'd give this a go. My cholesterol levels have improved, but more importantly for purposes of this review, the milk tastes amazing. I'll drink a glass or 2 every night and on occassion couldnt get it, so I'd buy… Read more

another brand and sometimes even treat myself to some full-cream milk, but none compare to the sweet, creamy, and natural taste of this milk. I understand other people here have had issues back in 2022, but I've been drinking the milk for the past 1.5 years since 2023 and it's been perfect. Anywaym I saw the negative reviews and thought some more current opinions would be helpful.

Seems to have returned to it's normal taste – You will see I wrote a review about this milk and it's horrible perfume taste about a month ago. I stopped buying it as it was undrinkable, really revolting. Yesterday I decided to buy one carton to give it another go as the bad reviews on here had stopped about 3 weeks ago. My milk had an expiry date of 11th October. I tasted it and the revolting… Read more

taste has gone and it is back to normal. Next week I will buy my usual 3 to 4 cartons as it really does help with lowering cholesterol . I gave the milk a tentative 3 stars this time as I am hoping that my next cartons will be OK too,and I am also unhappy that the company didn't accept any responsibility about the change in taste when it happened.

Heart Active – After the doctor advised me to go onto this milk I brought my first 1Ltr today 17/5/2023 in Coles Sebastopol Ballarat. I found it pleasant to drink nice and creamy and had a good taste. Reading some of the reviews below I had not encountered any of the concerns maybe they have fixed the issue., Show details ·  1

Arrogant – This milk used to be my fave. Tea always tasted creamy. Then it disappeared & then returned tasting disgusting. I have contacted bega & was advised“we are working with out new carton supplier to resolve this issue". I suggested they check out the reviews & enlighten their customers as they are expressing genuine concerns re health & safety of the new taste/cartons. Well so far they continue to ignore our concerns. Sooo I will give it the flick. Show details

Tastes Different – I have been drinking this milk for many years. It became hard to find a couple of months ago, but now that it is back it tastes horrible. It is not cheap milk to buy, so until they change it back to how it used to taste I will no longer be buying it. Show details

Heart active taste – I have been using heart active for over 10 years and have found the taste unbearable for the last few months, it went off the market for a short period and I thought they were going to fix it but unfortunately the horrid taste remains and is still drinkable, so I won’t be buying it in the future. This is the result of companies trying to change something that wasn’t faulty in the first place. Show details

Metallic taste Heart Active milk – I have enjoyed using Heart Active milk for years and it has lowered my cholesterol substantially but as per other reviews it is almost undrinkable in coffee or tea or even by itself. I normally buy 3 or 4 cartons per week but will change to an alternative until it is fixed. Show details
