I installed a 30 kWh Dyness battery system and couldn’t be happier with my choice. The system has been running very stably, and at night my home is completely powered by the battery. The price was also very reasonable, offering great value for money. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with both the performance and the cost-effectiveness of this product.

Do you need a solar battery that you need to baby sit every day? this is the system for you! – I have this battery coupled with the Solis S5 EH1P5KL. So consider this a review for both the battery and inverter. We've had the system for 6 months. To summarise: Does it save us thousands of dollars a year? (so far) - Yes. Is it a set and forget system? - No. (it requires babysitting - read on below) Is the customer service good? - Absolutely not, not far off non existent. Does the system work as it should? 80 Percent yes Am I happy with the system? Can't complain about the money it's saving us. I am very unhappy about how much attention I've had to give it since it's been installed. How much running around I've had to do between customer service and the installer. Would I choose Dyness and Solis again? - No.
In more detail: The biggest current problem the battery has is it overheats and shuts down! Upwards of a 32 degree day and it will not last the day before getting too hot and turning off. That's great, good on you for protecting yourself, but how bout turning back on when you've cooled off? Before I explain further let me say I built a shelter specifically to keep it in the shade (a month before the weather started getting hot). So as it is the sunlight does not touch it. But granted the ambient temp still is very hot. How about a cooling fan Dyness? To combat that I have to go out everyday and afternoon to turn a 200w fan on to keep it cool if the weather is 32 degrees or more. This is where I start talking about it not being a set and forget system. This has worked so far but today, as of half an hour ago, even the fan blasting directly at it wasn't enough to help it, and it is off currently. It's about 40 degrees out there. And maybe this is normal for solar batteries that are sitting in the shade I don't know. Keep reading it gets better. The first time this happened right, I had NO IDEA! Because we still had power, so how would we know. Until 9pm, when all the power went out, lights and all (but not the air con, so we couldn't see, but at least we were cool). We had power at the meter, no breakers were tripped, the battery was dead, the inverter was dead. After about half an hour of fluffing around and isolating and tripping various master switches and things like that I remembered the battery has an on/off switch. So of course I tried that and everything fired back up. Whoopee. So I check the graphs on the app and I can see that the Battery had shut off just after 12pm that day. So from then until 9pm the inverter just ran as usual without the battery, as you would expect. And then at 9PM the inverter has decided that 'you know what, I can't run without that battery, all the best guys', and it was lights out. And it was then that I realised that the battery overheating is going to be a thing. And I also realised that I can't rely on this system at all, at any moment I will not be surprised if we lose all power thank you Solis and Dyness. It's one thing to lose the battery, but a whole other thing for the inverter to just decide to say goodnight, when all our power has to run through it. I have no faith in the system at all, not just from what I've just mentioned, but from all our other experience with the system before this. But
On to the next problem (which has been as is since it was installed). Scenario - The battery is at 100% charge, we have 5.2KW coming in from the solar panels, we then have 6.5kw of load coming from the house. That 5.2kw of that 6.5kw load is covered by the panels right, so the 1.3kw of extra power that's needed will just come from the battery which is at full charge! Right? Wrong! It will come from the grid, every time, and no not for 10 seconds while the inverter catches up, for an hour, or more, or however long that load is running. For as long as the house load is more than 5kw and more than what the solar panels is putting out, the extra power needed will be taken from the grid, while the FULL battery stands idly by. This is where we're paying for electricity where we shouldn't be. Perhaps I'm wrong, but this is ludicrous to me and I've been through it with the installer, and Solis, and they're not disagreeing with me, but they also won't anything about it. I have taken 10 minute videos directly at the inverter screen demonstrating these instances to show Solis that this inverter is not working correctly. And I've suggested to the installer that maybe it's the battery, and they're sure that no it wouldn't be. And this is where I get p'd off again, that I can't say hey Solis, or hey installer, the inverter is doing this, and it's not right, can you sort it out please? Because the product is brand new and it's clearly not working right. And then the installer should be dealing with Solis, and solving the problem, because I've played my part, I've paid the money. How about you do your part and produce a product that works as it should work? But no I've spent hours and hours and hours on phone calls and emails and warranty forms all to have no change, they're hoping I go away. And I have gone away, I've accepted it is how it is. Really p'd off about it all but what can ya do. I'll tell you what YOU can do, is not buy this garbage. No one's going to help you when it doesn't work properly. I'm not mentioning the installer on purpose because I need them when the system breaks down, that's right I said when, not if. But I'm very unhappy with their service to. This should be their problem to deal with.
Okay what else. When the sun is blazing and you'll be expecting well upwards of 3kw coming from your panels. I'll find it's like 1kw. Look at the graphs and I can see that only one of the solar arrays is producing. The other has cut out. I did figure out that this only happens when the battery is full. So that's fine that's okay with me because our energy plan doesn't pay us for outgoing solar. BUT, does yours? What if someone IS expecting to get payments for their outgoing solar, and what if we wanted to change our plan so that we are getting paid for it? We'll be getting bugger all because the inverter cuts out half our solar output because the battery is full! It could very well be the power company limiting the output I don't know, our installer said they do have some control between them and the smart meter or whatever so I don't know. But check that before you invest in this system (and I strongly recommend you don't).
So I just went out and turned the poor little baby back on (the battery), it's still a bit hot to the touch but it'll turn itself back off if it thinks it's too hot still. (200w fan still been blasting at it all this time). And again, how about turning back on automatically when you have cooled down Dyness! This system is like looking after a child, you gotta supervise it. So if you got time for that and to pay for electricity even when you're battery is full, this is the system for you!
Oh one more thing, at one point when I was talking to the Solis techs trying to sort out these problems, they tried to do a firmware update remotely. Great. After about half an our the inverter was on, but we had no power. Nothing I could do about it. The installer had to come out and bypass the inverter so we could have power until the Solis techs were on the floor again (it was after hours).
So there you go, garbage products, garbage service. Steer clear, I think any other system out there would do a better job.

Product update: Battery is cactus, won't turn on, can't get service. Had to have the electrician wire in a changeover switch because without it we would not have power at night because the inverter can't power itself off the grid. Useless.
