Eco Tan Hempitan

Waste of my money and time – Oh my goodness.. I really really wanted this to become my holy grail of fake tans after trying many and then seeing all the wonderful reviews- fyi I have pale skin, but I’ve tried it out numerous times, tried exfoliating both 48 hours and 24 hours before applying, moisturise all dry areas as advised, always applied two coats - and every single… Read more
time I have allowed like 20 minutes for it to dry. Yet it always comes out super patchy, it hasn’t stained sheets but I don’t understand how not, when I wake up looking patchy as. The face tan water I love and can’t fault- but this Hempitan body tan water is just not for me I guess.
Gorgeous colour – I’m a bit of a self professed tanaholic- At first I wasn’t a huge fan, my first attempt I was extremely patchy and streaky, given that there’s no colour guide for me to work out where it had/hadn’t been applied- nor had I done two coats. However I’ve since found that you MUST do two coats! Since doing so, the tan has come out rich and… Read more
flawless. It’s advertised as not being sticky, that’s a white lie- it is sticky for the first hour or so but admittedly not as sticky as your typical foam self tan. I find it lasts a good 5 days before I find myself exfoliating and reapply.
The packaging needs to be reconsidered- should the bottle drop on tiles or a hard floor it can quite easily crack, so there’s $40 down the drain which is quite disappointing
Disappointing. Sticky, Tacky, Messy spray goes everywhere – You reallt can only apply this in the shower as the mist ends up everywhere. It's tackier and sticker than the mouse. Nice colour though. Show details
Don't be fooled by the hype – I really wanted to love this because of it being organic. But it is difficult ti apply evenly, Fades off VERY badly makes you look like you have a skin disease. Even after exfoliating i will have to exfoliate down to absolute white to start afresh. The Worst for fading I have ever tried. Also it is NOT a dark tan and requires a lot of product and… Read more
multiple application which like I said is hard because of how badly it fades. It is way too expensive for being this ineffective. There are cheaper organic tanners that work much better. Also they only post positive reviews on the site.
Disappointed. Not a fan – Very patchy. Easy to apply but cannot see where you’ve been due to clear solution so don’t find out where you’ve missed till it develops. Dries quick. Colour is ok. Smell isn’t overpowering like most. Show details
Don't bother if you want a dark tan – If you want an orange, patchy tan then this is the tan for you. Application is clear and actually smells alright and is really easy to put on. Except there is no guide colour so if you miss a spot, we'll I guess you'll find out in 24 hours. And when it does develop, it's more like a light orange glow. I'm a huge tanner and have tried every tan on the market. This was a complete disappointment. Show details
Hello Early 2000's Patchy Orange Tan – It appears Eco Tan delete any bad reviews on their social media and website so I've had to review here. I had high hopes for this tan. I followed the directions on the bottle to use hands to rub in. It did say to use a mitt if you prefer, but I figured if it said you could use your hands then why not? I later found out the directions they have… Read more
on their social media accounts are completely different and tell you to use their shiny mitt and also sleep in it. The bottle says to leave on for 1 hour then wash off. The application itself was super easy, and it didn't have that yuck tan smell. It was the same as applying my regular moisturiser and I loved that it dried staright away without leaving that tacky wet feeling. I was impressed.. and that's about as far as it got. They claim this to be the darkest tan however that couldn't be further from the truth. I'm as white as a ghost, so I usually expect even the lightest of tans to show up on my skin. I actually slept with this on (as it states on their social media) and the little tan I did have when I woke up was actually orange. My hands looked disgusting. And yes, I have been tanning for years so understand the exfoliate, shave and apply light moisturiser to elbows, knees, feet etc. And after I washed it off the tan smell returned just as strong as ever. Although, I don't mind the tan smell. Reminds me I'm tanned, not pale haha.
Just terrible. So disappointed with this. Don't waste your money unless you want that orange glow.. the same one you had in high school after using the Vaseline Sun Kissed Glow moisturiser for a week straight.
The darkest organic tan on the market – This tan is amazing it doesn’t clog pores and is super dark, easy to apply and streak free. It’s the darkest organic tan on the market. I’m super happy that it lasts 7 days on me as I do a bit of training. Show details
Favourite tan ever! – I should start out by saying I didn't have any packaging issues like a lot of others, I ordered directly from Ecotan and mine came with the spray cap and I had no problems with the device not working, I doubt I would have been as enthusiastic had I received a pump top as it's a very watery consistency. The tan itself is AMAZING very easy to apply… Read more
as it goes on smoothly, much less of that typical 'fake tan biscuit' smell than any other brand I have used and it dries incredibly fast so I find I can still go about my day while it develops. There is no guide colour so just be sure to blend evenly, I like this as it doesn't rub off on clothing and you see the true colour as it develops. On top of this it's one of the darkest tans I've ever used, they do say to apply generously and you will need to, two coats is my go to but since it dries so quickly this is easy done. It also doesn't give me an itchy skin reaction like a lot of other tans so I'm a convert for sure!
At two coats per application I'm getting 4-5 tans out of a bottle, pricey but worth it.
Definitely a "NO" for this one! – I have tried using this Eco Tan "Hempitan" Tanning Water several times. I did all the standard preparations prior to application, also using both bare hands and mitt application methods. I really wanted this product to work because their face tanning water is a great product. This formula glides on smoothly (aloe vera gel based). You have to… Read more
use a lot of the product and liberally. It dries fairly quickly with no sticky residue. It does smell strongly of DHA. Personally, I am OK with DHA smell. However, the result has a lot to be desired for. It ALWAYS ended up streaky and patchy (definitely a guarantee!). It basically creates the classic "dirty tan" look. This is EcoTan darkest tan so it is a nightmare to see those dark patches and angry streaks on your skin. No amount of scrubbing and tan remover lotion can take it off so it is a show and tell days ahead. I am afraid the end result does not reflect the hype as promoted. I do not think there is other self-tanning products out there that give this bad result anymore today (definitely not with the price paid for it!). It feels almost a backward technology. Colour wise, is natural but you get the same tan colour from cheaper brand. I think unless they review and revise their formula, it is not going to be a well-appreciated product for many.
Worst Tan Ever – I love the face tan water and use it regularly so was excited to hear they brought out a body water, all their reviews on their own website are positive however look elsewhere and they are quite the opposite. I read a few reviews to get some feedback on the application as it is quite different to any tan I’ve tried before but I have tried many! I… Read more
exfoliated 24 hours before like they suggest and applied liberally (as it doesn’t have a guide colour it was important to make sure you don’t miss any spots). I let it dry for an hour as per the instructions but when I woke up this morning I was faced with the most patchy, streaky, orange colour I’ve haven’t seen on my skin since the early 2000s. I really wanted to love this as much as the face tan water but unfortunately it doesn’t deliver in the slightest and it’s quite expensive so I’d give it a miss, I definitely won’t be giving a second go. To say I’m disappointed is an understatement and I’ve got an event to go to today!!!!
Okay product poor packaging – I was so excited to try the ecotan hempitan tanning water, and it was just a disappointment. I first saw an ad for the hempitan spray on tanning water on social media, they made it look so easy simple and effective. I finally caved and bought the Holy waters pack which retails at nearly $100. I used a coupon bringing the cost down to around $66.… Read more
Still not the cheapest. I waited nearly 2 weeks for my ecotan package, and the moment I opened it wasn't impressed. I was faced with a small printed note basically saying the bottle wasn't going to be a spray. I tried to contacted them on fb via private message but the response time was extremely slow. I then commented on Instagram post about the hempitan product and they deleted the conversation with me leaving the original comment. I've read they delete any negative feedback on their social media. I have always read so many amazing reviews about ecotan and now I know why. How does a company expect to grow and prefect its products if they can't handle simple feedback. I'm shocked and disgusting with the dishonesty displayed by ecotan as a company. To think they have just published a book on small business and this is how they operate. Extremely unprofessional.
Firstly the packaging, it was advertised that it was coming in a spray. This was one of the main reason I bought it. It was a selling point. An easy to apply water tanning spray, It sounded amazing. However the packaging instructions are pointless as it says to spray. They also placed a sticker over the front to cover the word spray, maybe they should of done the same with the back. For the price the packaging is as unprofessional. At that price point I expected more. The ecotan social media team provided cut and paste responses for the lid change and where unwilling to admit any fault or except responsiblity for falsely advertising a product. The lid choice is not only a poor design mistake but that it was advertised as a spray and that is why I wanted it. They have also removed the link for the Holly waters pack to try cover up their mistakes, more dishonest behaviour. The new lid is the lid you would have on a lotion bottle, now imagine what that's like when your pour a water tan out onto a tanning mit that has a shiney non absorbent surface. It's insanity, and goes everywhere. A drip cap lid would of been better or maybe sending the spray lid separately with the bottle. You don't get much in a bottle so the last thing you want is to waste it due to poor product design. The packaging is impractical, uninformative and wasteful.
Now for the actual product itself, I guess the packaging can be over looked if the actual product is great. They claimed the new cap lid is a blessing and will give you a much better deeper looking tan, so I took there word for it and tried it the new way. I used their tanning mit I applied it how they said to on their social media accounts. It was an absolute nightmare to apply, It was just so messy and extremely wasteful so I went and got a clean spray bottle to do the other leg. The leg I did first is patchy and embarrassing the other one I did with my spray bottle is even. The color delvoped exactly the same. Hempitan did take a day to develop and the colour is nice, but so are many other self tans. I also want to mention It does smell really nice and nothing like a tanning product.
Overal I'm extremely disappointed. Disappointed in how ecotan have acted as a company and how dishonest they have been. Deleting negative reviews and conflicting opinions is not only dishonest its also very deceiving and disrespectful to existing and future customers . It's just very disappointing I paid a lot of money for a spray on water tanner and that is not what I got.
I will never buy hempitan again or any other ecotan product.
