Ergobaby Swaddler

often on nights I have her in this swaddle as opposed to my other swaddles. This swaddle essentially doesn’t swaddle her at all as no matter how carefully and securely I wrap her, she gets her arms up and hands to her mouth. Very disappointing.

The velcro pull-across has warped into a buckled like shape and this is not due to ignoring care instructions, we have done everything as determined by the product details.

The swaddle also comes loose more than we expected - and before you, the company, respond with a contradictory statement - as mentioned earlier we have followed to the letter everything! Plus we do have the correct size for our bubs. This also includes online videos demonstrating its use.

We've had so many sleepless nights due to her basically defeating this swaddle, we've now moved on to a far superior and super-efficient swaddle - which funnily enough does not need 3 or 4 different and interrupting actions just to get her swaddled,

I already know what the response will be!

Awesome Swaddle – This swaddle is awesome! It’s definitely for parents who couldn’t keep bubs hands tightly snugged in when wrapping with a blanket which is what we struggled with, he would always find a way out. - The elastic foot pouch is too loose and leaves a section of the baby's abdomen uncovered. This means the baby does not have even layering of material coverage. Also, if the baby kicks as they all do, the elastic leg pouch moves and allows pockets of air to enter. - The use of velcro is quick to wrap but makes too much noise when being undone. When this happens as a result of the baby inevitably moving, it frightens the baby. When undressing for night feeds/changes, this creates disruptive noises when the aim is to keep noise to a minimum.

The arms pockets are useful and help keep the baby swaddled. This is the only positive feature of the swaddle.

Not the choice for wriggly babies – I bought this after my baby started escaping wrap swaddles on a recommendation from a sales assistant. wriggly baby was still able to dislodge the cross over sections and get her arms up to her face. It’s just not secure enough if you have a baby that is a bit of an escapologist. I would also add that it’s a bit fiddly to put on and can take a few goes (even after watching the YouTube instruction video), meaning baby can become a bit unsettled in the process of putting them in the swaddler.

Only swaddle my baby liked – I found this to be a great swaddle and we used it right up to transitioning to a sleeping bag. We also tried the love to dream and ergococoon swaddles, but bubs never liked them as the stretchy fabrics of those brands seemed to encourage her to struggle and try and free her arms. much room for legs to be in the froggy position, much better than some narrower fit swaddles; fastening with Velcro means no noisy zipper to do up if trying to get baby into swaddle after she’s asleep; easy to put on once you figure it out; easy to get arms nice and firm so no wiggling; bubs rarely got her arms out and if she did the between leg strap meant the fabric didn’t move up over her face; able to swaddle under arms or with only one arm in when we wanted to transition. We had both the cotton and the lightweight mesh - the cotton was sturdier and as a result easier to put baby to sleep as it allowed for firmer wrapping. It was a bit hot for warm weather though.

The only cons in my opinion was that it’s an expensive swaddle (but what baby product isn’t) and I wished that it was longer as my baby grew out of them before 3 months.

Having said that, I used it every single night within that time and she’s was sleeping through the night at about 6 weeks so if that’s the price of a good sleep, so be it!

very easily get his arms up to his face as as they are strapped onto the sections it his hands and blanket which are tightly wrapped are then cover his face so I’m too worried to keep on using this now...disappointed as like all things for baby I need to wash it first so will probably have trouble returning it!

Not ideal – I bought two of these wraps based on the good reviews here. It seemed like a great theory and would mean my husband could easily wrap our newborn. However, she has been able to get her arms and the fabric up over her face and mouth no matter how tight we wrap or where we position her arms. We love Ergobaby products but I'm too scared to keep using these as she can get the fabric over her mouth and nose. For the price paid, I'm disappointed.

Not so much – Have been using this for weeks in hopes it would help my baby sleep more than 2 hours at a time. It's 4 am and I'm giving it up because she has been able to wiggle her arms out since day one, every time no matter how tight it's swaddled. Very inconvenient for diaper changes as well, Velcro is super loud. Don't waste the money.

Too short – Did not work for our 3 month old son due to the size Large being too short for him. Was a Waste of money. Seems to be a product that's best for babies that are on the short side. It is also a bit hot for Sydney summers. oh well.

So easily it feels like cheating – We have used the cotton swaddler since we left the hospital, it was so easy to use which was ideal for two very nervous first time parents. It has kept our daughter warm through winter and it is the one item we won't leave home without. Couldn't recommend this product enough  Show reply

Perfect for little ones in a Pavlik harness – We used the Ergobaby Swaddler after our daughter was diagnosed with mild DDH and placed in a pavlik harness. It was easy to use and fit great without impacting the harness. She continued to use it too after the harness came off. I'd highly recommend it for parents to help prevent hip issues in children as well.  Show reply

Cosy and secure – We tried the swaddler after our bub appeared to dislike the other zip ups .. this was mainly due to her liking to suck her hands. We found the Ergo kept her arms away from her face and kept her securely wrapped all night. It's light weight flexible material is easy to put on even once your bub is asleep! We found she couldn't escape or suck her fists, which during winter in the other swaddles left her hands cold.  Show reply

It's so easy to use and very practical – I struggled with the traditional swaddling technique .... my baby was always finding a way out of it .... i then discovered the ergobaby with the velcro and pouch ... BEST.THING.EVER!! I didn't need to undo the swaddle to change nappy which was fantastic because baby stayed asleep and it was so fast and easy to put on ..... I don't recommend or rave about many products but this one I HIGHLY recommend especially for new mums  Show reply

Our favourite swaddler – I really like this swaddler, extremely easy to use and washes beautifully. So easy to wrap my baby and he loves how secure he feels inside. We swaddled our baby from birth to 6 months and only used the ergo swaddler, I would have liked an option to do arms up but apart from that we loved it!  Show reply

Not very versatile – Bubs is just 2 months old and is already too long for the size large Swaddler. Due of the hot weather, I only used this product twice. This issue might be fixed by using a stretchier material between the legs. I don't recommend this product for parents whose baby is on the larger side.

Not what I thought – My newborn baby was able to kick the bottom off at 2 days old. She was 6lbs. Fast forward to a month old and she can escape no matter how tight or how well I followed the instructions step by step. I really wanted to swaddle her and comply with the 5 s's.

Not thrilled – I purchased this swaddle thinking it would keep my bub securely wrapped all night . Wrong! She would wake around 3-4am crying because she'd managed to free one hand and the swaddle would be flapping around everywhere. She would sleep til 7am most nights, unless I was using this swaddle, to which she would wake up at 4am as she was not comfortable. Feeling pretty jipped.

Kind of disappointing as I had hoped this would work better for us in especially liked that you could remove the bottom part to strap into swings and chairs but it just didn't work out for us

Life saver – My son is a tricky sleeper and was an expert at escaping his wraps, no matter how tightly I wrapped him. However he needed this to fall and stay asleep. I bought this product at 3 months and continued using it for months as it worked wonders. He finally slept during the day and for long stretches at night. My criticism of the product is that the Velcro section at the bottom of the swaddle is too small. I stopped using this part very quickly.  Show reply

have a crazy wriggler, and the velcro was strong enough to keep her in. The velcro is also good because it adjusts with their growing size, but have to be careful when washing so it doesn't snag on other things.

I guess they run a little small, we used the S/M for about 2 months, and the M/L for about 2 on our average size girl. I tried it recently before packing away, and she actually still fits it at 6.5 months.

We used just this and long sleeve pj's during Brisbane winter, and it was perfect. I was wondering what we'd do for next baby if it it's over summer because I think it would be too warm then, but Ergo have just released a mesh version, hopefully it works just as well.

We will happily use again for next baby. Like all baby products, some things work better for some than others.

one-week old, and were initially pleased with quality fabric, design and ease of fitting. Within 10 days, the fit was very snug on our average sized two week old; so much so that it looked like she was in considerable discomfort. I checked the ergobaby.com.au's linking website, and that size should fit up to 5.4kg, our little one was over a kilogram less, and average length. Additionally - likely due to the fit - with some well placed leg jiggles, it didn't take too much effort for her to wriggle her arms up near her face. It was very disappointing that a product of that cost would be of so little value. I would neither recommend nor purchase the Ergobaby Swaddler again.

Great idea, sizing is small – I bought these swaddles for my 3 week old as I needed something easy to wrap her in. These swaddles are very easy to use and the fabric is beautiful. weeks she was pretty much touching the bottom. Also the elastic around the top is really loose so if she kicked her legs at all, it pulled down and uncovered the top of her thighs. A leg has escaped a couple of times.

At 8 weeks she weighs 5.2kg and the pocket just doesn't fit at all anymore. The tab that velcros to the tummy is really short too and if you leave this undone she seems to be able to slide the wrap up or down. In order to fit the wrap onto my daughter according to the instructions, it would only have lasted till around 6-7 weeks old. They're too expensive to last such a short time. If only they were an inch or two longer! I'm currently still squeezing her in by not covering her shoulders but this does allow her to loosen the wrap a little.

Also, there is no hole in the back so that you can strap her into the pram/bouncer. A small thing but would be really handy.

All round, a fantastic wrap, but if you have an average sized baby I'd go straight to the M/L size.

Great swaddle – Its about time a hip friendly swaddle came onto the market, these swaddles are easy to use and are a great product! My only criticisms are that they are expensive, are small sized and only available in a 2 pack.  Show reply

I can't recommend this – I felt quite strongly about having my baby swaddled to invested in the small-medium ones of these. My baby was very colicky in the first month and so I persevered with these hoping they'd help him to settle. I gave them to a friend of mine who also found that her baby hated them and managed to get tangled up in them too.

What's worse is the problem with sizing- the sml-med size only fits up to about 5kg. Many of my friends are having babies in the 4.5kg ballpark, and so these would barely fit a lot of newborns. Even with my smaller baby, he would've grown out of these in 2months. That's not very good considering the cost!

In sum, I really wanted to like these, but the fact they didn't work with 2 babies and the small sizing means I really cannot recommend these. If you do decide to go ahead with them, at least buy the larger size.

Love the ergobaby swaddle – I love these swaddles. I never have to worry about anything riding up around his face or him getting unwrapped and waking himself up. So easy to use and wear really well. My bub sleeps really well in these swaddles. I would recommend these to any parents who want a swaddle that really works. Durable, easy to use, effective.

the top brand zip up ones (yep, really- got his hand and arm out of the neck holes!!) thought I'd give this one a go- used correctly there is no way my boy can escape AND he loves them, even happy being wrapped up.

As others mention the sizing is a bit off- the leg strap seems too short for meeting the Velcro tab in the body part namely. However, with practice my hubby and I both have it sussed now and he hates having to swaddle our boy because of all the escaping :)

They do fit very differently if bub is in a short sleeve onesie as shown in the demo video or actual realistic winter pjs so we have both sizes for different weather. The material is really lovely and soft, stretchy, but they do need a wash to resize after a couple of uses ( just like jeans!) they are also pretty warm,if not hot, swaddles but we're coming into Winter so for me that's a plus. Only negative really is price - would much prefer the option to purchase just one to try out first. Bub can't escape - ever nice quality material Strap to join through legs up to body could be longer. Velcro bends a bit when washed or after a few uses. Price!!!!!

The problem is that for the swaddle to be at its most effective baby's arms need to be straight when swaddled - my baby's arms are always slightly bent. This meant baby's chest wasn't completely covered and she could still get her fist to her mouth (although she could no longer cover her face). And despite it seeming impossible from all the velcro, one morning I found an arm and leg free! My main complaint is that the S/M size is for babies upto 5.4kg. My baby is currently 4.5kg and the swaddle seems too small - I've almost run out of velcro to secure the swaddle. Finally while it is great to be able to access baby's bottom for changes, there's too much material to fold under baby's back so changes need to be done over the swaddle, which is fine but of course there may be 'spillage' issues. Overall the swaddle does its job, but for my baby it was not a perfect solution to all my concerns. stretch and straighten her arms out (not always easy to do) before wrapping over her body that the swaddle didn't work properly as my baby was able to move her arms and hands upwards covering her face (scary!) and also knocking out her dummy. My baby also managed to break the Velcro seal and come completely unravelled which of course woke her up. The other issue I had is that the blanket pouch is not adjustable so when my baby kicked out her legs the pouched moved down leaving her partially uncovered.

The material is beautiful and breathable but disappointing product and regret my purchase. Might work well on a newborn though but not suitable as they get a bit older. Material soft and gentle Velcro came undone, baby able to get out, pouch one size fits all and can be difficult to put baby in
