Fowlers Vacola Preserving Bottle

Preserving Jars – Have been using fowler Preserving Jars for 40 years and they have never let me down. I also have a supply of Ball Mason Preserving Jars and find I have a higher success rate with Fowlers 3 piece fitting lids than Ball 2 piece lids.
Bad attitude – I ordered new rings but rang back and cancelled the order within 5 minutes they continued with the order that was delivered, When I rang they would not accept any responsibility for there mess up at all, They expected me to return the product at my cost.
Purchased in for $33.35.
Not buying anymore – The jars are solid enough but the lids are finished poorly. The edges are razor sharp and cut you easily. I received a nasty cut just putting the clips on. I asked around and apparently its a long time issue that fowler is aware of but ignores. I wrote to them about it and was told to sand the lids with wet dry sandpaper. When buying a new product you expect it to be safe, you also do not expect to have to take sandpaper to new preserving jar lids. Buy Wenk jars instead, much better quality and safer.

Old fowlers vacola are fantastic – I have been preserving all week. I have also been using the old fowlers vacola bottles and have to say are a hell of a lot better than the new ones that are really thin and don't hold up to them standard, the glass is so thin that when submerged into the water bath in the steriliser that crack and bottom comes out of the jar, ending up with a waste of product and a useless jar. Anyway I got my husband grandmother's fowlers and have been using them instead as the think glass bottoms and robust jars are better to can or preserve in and holding up to the challenge of heat. I love these jars and can recommend them high enough but the new fowlers, no way.
Don't bother they are now made in china – The old fowlers vacola bottles were made in Australia and were great quality since fowlers were bought by the corporate I guess they wanted to save money and the jars are now made in china really bad quality and hard to use. If you have to use a jar buy the Weck or Ball Mason jars they are much better. Were once a good product cheap copies of the originals
