I just bought my second Aldi mower. I can’t remember when I got the first but it is at least six and possibly ten years old. It has worked flawlessly until yesterday when I couldn’t restart it after refuelling. I may have used contaminated fuel (mixed with diesel) but there seems to be little compression. I checked with the bore scope and the… Read more
inlet valve seems heavily gooped with black material. My fault. At $299 this mower is a steal. Sadly, cheaper to buy a new one than pay for repairs, although I will have a crack myself.
It’s ridiculously cheap and yes it does cut grass. For that it gets 1 star, but absolutely no more. Catcher is small and fiddly to remove, doesn’t bag very well and leaves behind half the load when you remove it. The wheels are awful and because the mower is already light it skids if you try and cut on setting 3 or lower. Engine is very easy to… Read more
start but like other Ferrex products (6 in 1 multi tool) it’s only a matter of time until it leaks fuel everywhere and eventually dies.

Ferret 21" cut – I bought it in 2019 it Has been a great mower. The only thing is it could do with a second speed and a little bit more power at times. But I haven't serviced it alot and it keeps on going, starts first go every time. Never changed even a spark plug. The wheels seemed to be flimsy at first, but has not failed in any way. I live on a medium house block and have mowed at least once a fortnight for the last 5 years Show details
Useless as the blow hole is too small and gets clogged – Very Disappointing. I bought this because ALDI products are usually very good. We have a large block and liked that it was wide cutter. The problem is that it's blow hole is way too small and continually gets clogged with grass and therefore is useless....Never buy! Show details
Aldi Ferrex Petrol mower 173 cc ,20 " cut – This is a great mower and works every time , but the only downfall is the exhaust is slowly melting the side shute flap which is in picture , the design needs to change that part and not be made out of plastic , otherwise it is an excellent mower . I got a replacement mower from Aldi under Warranty and this one has had an engine change ,the… Read more · 1
exhaust is further forward and it doesn't burn the plastic Shute, so the original one did have a fault but since been rectified .i just giving update on 3/11/25 and the Mower is still going strong .
Heaps of torque – Cuts well, don't know what all the complaining is about honestly. There are some design flaws in my opinion, like when you're changing direction with the self propelled function not engaged, if you're not careful you can bump it with your hip or belly. The level selector is flimsy and can jump out, but 30 seconds with a round file to make a… Read more
notch for it to sit in properly took care of that.
Electric start is a nice feature for anyone who suffers back pain.
Catcher is large and we'll designed. It fills properly unlike many on the market.
The wheels are a weak point, but easy enough to replace. It runs well, doesn't break a sweat through thick, luscious green grass and the quality of the cut is excellent.
I look after my tools and am handy enough to maintain them but so far I haven't had to worry with this machine.
SELF PROPELLED ;; less than $300 What a bargain – So happy with this little beauty , I have a large block so need the self propelled version and it works like a dream. The price is amazing compared to Bunnings and it comes with a 3 year warranty. There were no problems assembling it as basically just hd to attach the handle and off I went. Cleaning was easy as there is a hose attachment for cleaning un der the machine. Great product at a great price. Show details

Good mower, might need reinforcement on the deck where the motor mounts – I have had my mower for a couple of years now and recently had an issue where the motor tore its mounting bolts out through the deck. I disassembled the mower and got the deck repaired/welded back up and also had a ring made of 3mm thick steel cut and drilled as a support/reinforcement for the motor mounting bolts. The ring goes under the deck and the bolts go through the ring then the deck and then into the mower. This worked like a charm. Show details
No one will work on it in Rockhampton – Hi I been using your mower for awhile now and the problem I have is no won in Rockhampton will work on it because I brought it from ALDI. Purchased mower recently a Ferrex Motor Mower, so far I would recommend it to anybody – The only problem I found were the Drive Wheels slipped when the grass was wet. Show details

aldi special buys – mower ok but service and parts take your order and money then NOTHING ...ONLY EMAIL NO PHONE CONTACT ,REFUSE TO ANSWER EMAILS ...NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN FROM ALDI Show details
GARBAGE – Garbage. The mower does not push forward otherwise it cuts out. It's so hard to start. It can only be pulled backwards and its soooo heavy. It smokes out very quickly too. on top of that it spews grass everywhere and completely ruins the grass if you stop moving. Never bought a worse mower in my life.

Good mower but warranty help has been very poor – The mower worked quite well for nearly 2 years. It then developed a fault with the self-drive so I attempted to contact the service and warranty provider, a business called Scheppach in Victoria. I tried calling two different numbers several times, only to hear a message that warranty claims are not accepted by phone. I then lodged a claim online… Read more
via the website, no response. I then emailed the business directly, no response. I eventually contacted Aldi direct; they were very good and I heard from the warranty provider within 48 hours. Had a conversation about the fault and the technician said he would check something and get back to me. That never happened. Went back to Aldi again and said I wanted a replacement or refund. Aldi was very good and offered a refund. Aldi are being let down by a very poor third party provider; they need to change contractors.

Hi Got my Self propelled mower from Aldi about 7-8 years ago and today it packed up. Had a look and tried to clean carb but as of tonight no luck.. Have found it to be a bargain as it started OK and cuts OK..plus mulching half the price of other self propelled mowers wish I could get another one Show details
Cheap and nasty – I bought one of these in 2019 fir about $150. So I didn't expect too much. I've been using every few weeks on 60 sqm Nature strip as we have no other grass on our block. It us a weird mower with some sort of auto choke system which sometimes causes erratic idle and stall. It is hard to start when warm and floods easily. It us forever losing fuel.… Read more
But it is still running. $150 doesn't buy much but compared to my old Rover 4 stroke that was still running 25 years when I gave it away,it's not a very good mower.
No Back up – I bought this mower on the 12/10/24 I'm going to return it due to being unable to contact any ALDI personal and support@scheppach.com.au. 2 emails sent bounced back each time, also contacted phone 1300 855 831, we only contact on line, no help what so ever, and no back up. I find ALDI a waste of time and effort. Show details
Very accurate warranty – What can I say. It was working good without any issues. Just couple of months after the warranty is expired head gasket is blown off. Started to produce lots of smoke and oil is pushed through inlet. My luck Show details
Catcher flap problem – Does the job for my small lawn, had to take the catcher off and use the side attachment for it. The flap that you open to attach the catcher on keeps opening up, so everything just blows up onto you. Don’t know how to fix this problem, hopefully someone on here knows. I might just fix it myself with duck tape every time I use it. I can see how it… Read more
maybe heavy for some people but I’m young so I can manage. Good feature is the key start and the cleaning hose adapter for the underside. But the catcher problem is frustrating.
A Lemon – Do not recommend Aldi Ferrex Motor Mower & wish I read review's 1st. Looks great that's it apart from starting 1st time once. Small yard grass looks chewed. The green lever, the wire keeps coming out. Mowed half the yard had a break next thing I pulled the lead and all I hear is metal on metal and it's not the blade. I expect more for 250$ returning tomoz got box but I'm wheeling it in and not hiding an Aldi Lemon. Show details
Rubbish product with rubbish customer service – Absolute rubbish, self drive system stopped working after 1 year of light use. The key start function has also stopped working and the mower is now blowing smoke, I’ve been told the carburettor needs to be repaired/replaced. I cannot get in contact with Aldi or Scheppach to rectify any of the issues even though it should still be under warranty. $400 dollars I guess you get what you pay for. Wouldn’t buy anything like it again from Aldi Show details
Cut short, mower to rubbish in no time – Only used the mower a few times and then the pull start stopped working, as in would not engage with the motor. pulled it to pieces and found the plastic housing that holds the inertia tags was broken. After reading other posts wont even bother wasting my time to fix. This is not a mower any more its now a piece of rubbish, thanks for adding to… Read more

You get what you pay for I guess – Purchased 17th Feb 2024, I agree with Rob. Silly plastic handle fixings and instructions. Starts ok but cuts out in less than 1minute, fresh petrol, fresh oil, seems to be a fuel breather issue, But if it doesn't run straight out of the box I really don't have the inclination to fiddle with it and its going back today. Disappointing instructions – Ferrex petrol mower on sale 17th February 2024. Assembly of handle instructions not clear. Handle flops around. Unable to use as is. No rating until assembly worked out. Handle worked out. Mower awkward to use especially in small area. Catcher flimsy but not necessary. Clean function is good. Show details
electirc start not working pull start only where is start motor – electric start not going only just a click have to use pull start and cannot buy new blades any where tell me where Show details
Good mower – Purchased in late 2016 or early 2017. Has started first go everytime. As a women have no idea how to do a service. Have only cleaned air filter and topped with oil. Dont have a big enough car to drive it to get a service. Wish catcher was solid though, dont like the holes in it. Cuts well still. Still going strong. Has a few missing parts though. For the price i think its definately worth it. Show details
Self-propelled failed – I have a small lawn but bought this because I love petrol lawnmowers. It is a large and very heavy mower. The self-propelled failed after a few uses. I called Scheppach as they don't want to take any complaints by email. They said it was a known issue and would send you a kit to install. After installing the kit still self propeller didn't work. Scheppach only has three service centres in NSW. Show details
Design Fault Fixed to make a working mower – While the mower was easy to start and operate it was very frustrating as it just did not cut the grass, appeared rather to bend the blades, but cut very few. It had very little use in its first year. A friend who is a saw doctor had a look and found the front skirts were too low relative to the rotating blade so they flattened the grass and it did… Read more
not cut. He removed (cut off) 25 - 30mm of the inside and outside front skirts, as shown in the pictures, so the blades of grass now stood up, were not flattened by the skirts, and met the rotating mower blades, with the result it cuts brilliantly, is easily height adjustable and is the mower we had originally thought we bought. The modification takes it from a 1 star to at least a 4 star, so we gave it three. Design was the problem. We use the mower mostly on buffalo. Catcher is adequate and easy to use.
Great mower drives itself – I bought this gladiator mower from Aldi about 6 years ago and have given it a real pissling. I use it on my suburban block 1/4 acre and at my farm about 1acre I unfortunately decided to cable tie the stop lever and stop it by dropping it on a tree stump at low revs. Next time I used it it vibrated badly and yes I bent the crankshaft I explained to… Read more
Aldi what happened and they replaced it no issues The new one has been ok so far but has no primer and sometimes is hard to start . Once going I still cable tie the stop lever but I cut the cable tie to stop . Learnt my lesson . it is 4 years old now and still drives and cuts great
Aldi Lawn Mower. Seems like Good Value – Purchased Feb 2023 from Aldi $249.00. Comes in box somewhat disassembled, half and hour to assemble. Need to purchase Engine Oil for it. 4-Stroke; so normal petrol is used. Tested on large corner block lawn. Went well. Seemed a little light (33kg) but was easy to handle and the 173cc engine was powerful enough. Self-propelled worked well. No… Read more · 1
throttle control (but I always set previous mowers on maximum anyway) . 60L Catcher was a bit small for my needs but would be OK for the average lawn. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.
