Don't Bother – Door bell use to send notifications when it noticed movement, people, cars etc. Has stopped sending notifications which seems pointless having the camera if it is not alerting me that someone is there unless doorbell pressed. Have uninstalled and reinstalled apps etc. All notifications settings are on. Useless camera. Show details

Avoid Google products if you can. Not cheap and I regret it to this day – Issues: - Takes a longtime to show what is showing on the app. It takes greater than 1 min which is a very long time as delivery drivers don't wait long. (FYI I have 100 MBps with 40 MBps upload, which is more than enough bandwidth). doorbell and simply doesn't work. So when I want to check the live feed, I have a 50% chance that I might see something, or restart the app. - After charging battery and installing it properly. I.e. checking it is firm and not loose. A family member comes over and says they found it on the floor with a cracked camera. It fell of by itself. Had to go through sooo many hoops to get a replacement. - Now after the recent recharging session, the doorbell keeps ringing when no one is there. Confirmed with history. The doorbell rings throughout the night... Imagine someone ringing your doorbell at 2:30 in the morning. Tried to see support and just went around in a loop. There infrastructure and workflows is rubbish. - The app on iPhone is bad. There are options that are right at the bottom that is not accessible. Seems Google only cares about Advertising and mining your data than quality service and products.

Bought a indoor nest cam when Nest was somewhat separate to Google and it worked fine. The cost was comparable to others and subscription was ok. Then Google took over and wow. Service and product quality went down while prices just went up and up. Stuck with Google products and I am very regretful.

I am hoping this will help others so they don't get stuck with these terrible products. Most reviews only do the golden path review. I have had these products for an angonising 3 years.

Please ask around and look for other products. Do your research. I can only warn people.

Google provides no support – The doorbell randomly rings with no one there and Googles other cameras I have are problematic to charge yet they take my subscription money for video backup which is totally unethical when they cannot provide support. Steer Clear – Door bell battery completely drains within 24 hours after a full charge.. I've had the doorbell for two years, and am extremely disappointed with it. Disappointed – Doorbell misses events completely, although this is much better at picking up events than the google nest cams. It will still completely miss recording someone who you can see on an alternate camera walk right up to it. let you know someone is at the door. When you finally connect, they are long gone. Either we've found that everyone in our neighbourhood can pass for 'The Flash', or the product just isn't fit for purpose.

As a doorbell, it's terrible, as a camera, it performs better than the battery nest cams. I would like to have spoken to one person at the doorbell, just once.... Will seek out a return.

And don’t even think about trying to get help. I just spent a frustrating two hours trying to get through to them. Filling out online forms. Trying to get a callback. In the end I’ve given up. We’re going to get a new doorbell.

various Nest speakers we have. The camera is able to play the video on our phones, and on the Nest Hub (7" display) in our kitchen which can also be used to talk to the doorbell.

In addition to the two way communication, the doorbell is also capable of recording events for a three hour period. The device has significant smarts built in - it can identify vehicles, people, parcels (and parcels carried by people), animals and other movement.

Using the Home app, it is possible to setup visual zones and attach different events, and notifications, to different parts of the image area - this allows us to receive notifications on our phones if a person or car enters our property (day or night, it has infrared) but just records everything else within a wider area (but not necessarily all, our choice).

An annoying aspect of our previous doorbell was that people would not see the button (it was an intercom type) and end up hammering on the door - if we were away from the front of the house, we wouldn't hear it. The Nest doorbell itself is difficult to miss and, as someone approaches it, the ring around the button pulses with a light - every visitor has pressed the button so far.

Once pressed, the bell announces that there is a visitor at the door via the other Google devices. If you subscribe to the Nest Aware service ($9 a month) the doorbell can identify and announce familiar people who arrive at the door, it will also store data for up to 60 days.

One aspect of the doorbell which could do with improvement is the mounting. The device can be mounted flat on the surface or, with the adaptor, at an angle of 20 degrees. While this might be fine for a door in the middle of a wall, ours is effectively in a corner and needed the bell to be mounted at 45 degrees. With a little bit of ingenuity I was ably to adapt the 20 degree wedge mount to about 40 degrees but it would have been nice to have been able to use it straight out of the box.

I am also unsure about how secure the bell is from theft, given that it needs to be removed on a regular basis to charge it if used only on battery.

The battery life is reasonable and the video and sound quality is good. Before being wired up to the power supply, our doorbell appeared to be lasting up to a month on a single charge.

All up I think this isn't a bad solution to the common problem of needing a doorbell without all the wiring. In addition, in this day and age of parcel delivery all the time, this also provides a good way to monitor deliveries and provide security.

So if you want a fancy expensive doorbell ok, but if you want to be able to review camera footage unless you want to pay Google $90/yr forget it. I can't believe they haven't been sued for false and misleading advertising.

Very flawed product that isn't really a 'doorbell' at all – You'd assume a product with the name 'doorbell' in the name would ring - somewhere (anywhere?). The other thing to be aware of is that the camera is motion activated. So if you live in a high pedestrian traffic location, you will continually be getting notifications to your phone that someone has been 'seen', even when no-one presses the 'doorbell' (sic). Surely you want 'doorbell press' notifications prioritised over random person sightings? This continued triggering of the camera also means a much-reduced battery life.

Otherwise the camera works very well and it could be a useful security measure. You could buy a Nest listening device that will announce 'someone's at the door', but we don't want one of these inside our house.

But the basic failure of this 'doorbell' to ring anywhere, and the continual irrelevant notifications that someone has trigged the camera, are beyond irritating. Sometimes good old-fashioned non-tech products are the simplest and best solution, it seems.
