Healthy Choice MS451 200W Electric Food Slicer

After minimal use the blade suddenly stopped spinning, after stripping it down I discovered the internal drive cog is stripped. no problem I thought, easy to change. No. after contacting Lenoxx Electronics I get told spare ones are not available? then I read the company website and they are so proud of it being environmentally friendly even saying how good their packaging is. I wouldn't need more packaging if you could supply a 5$ plastic cog.

Poor performance – Purchased this food slicer to replace my 20-year-old Phillips fold away slicer mainly to slice homemade bread and on rare occasions meat. The machine seems to labour when slicing bread, which is the main purpose for my purchase. The slicer is rarely used and Lenoxx have not replied to my complaint. Show details

Total waste of money – Slow action of the blade. Part of a sliced bread keeps stuck between the blade and the machine part that controls thickness making it useless for cutting bread. This part bends also if one slices something bigger In diameter like cabbage producing uneven slices. Show details

I will not buy Healthy Choice products if this is the quality you get – Packaging is quite good. Instructions are mediocre. Packaging states that the product is "Dishwasher sate" but instructions state "place no part of the slicer in the dishwasher". It is quite fiddly to clean properly. It makes awful gear noises and has slow variable cutting speed depending on work load. So it cuts things rather badly and it is a lot of work to clean up afterwards. No thanks Show details

Cheap food slicer, but you get what you pay for – WE purchased this food slicer for $59.95 from Kogan as our previous one had died. We had two main used in mind: slicing bread, and slicing meat. the end of the cut 3)- Same comment applies when cutting processed meats like salami etc 4)- It is not particularly ergonomic, and the "action" has a lot of friction, so it is not smooth

All in all it is clearly made to a price, and when put to the test that shows. If you were only going to use it for slicing soft meats or cheese, then it might be OK, but I would suggest that you are better off spending a few extra dollars for a better quality unit.

VERDICT: Inexpensive to buy, but very mediocre performance: Not recommended
