Don’t waste your money – Was looking for a more premium lawn mower than your average run of the mill Bunnings Victa. This lawnmower was a massive let down, you would think with Swedish heritage it would be excellent, however this was no better than the cheapest petrol mower you can buy at Bunnings for a quarter of the price. Issues: - catcher did not catch properly… Read more
dropping bits of leaf and grass - catcher hard to put on - seemed to lack power and struggle over thicker sections of lawn (my lawn not long or thick).
No refunds once used, so now I’m stuck with it…
Unreal mower – Dont know why there are so many bad reviews about this mower. Powerful mower if you have long grass to cut then cut it gradually. This mower will work every time providing you look after it. Wash it after every use to remove grass etc and you will not have a problem. Starts first pull and cuts without a problem. Show details
would never purchase one again – I was gifted this mower, Lc118 from an unhappy mate 2 months old. blades are not offset in relation to wheels so can not mow close to kerbs or walls. engine does not rev hard enough so wont cut damp or long grass, just wants to stall and have to cut to high, smokes on a slight hill. have had it checked at local dealer and engine revs are fine, oil levels are fine. would not reccomend. on the positive side it starts easily Show details

Disappointing for a brand new mower – From Day 1 - the engine surges constantly. Bought a new LC118 mower from a reputable dealer in Country NSW for "on special" price of $535. From the very first cut, the engine won't stop surging. Up and down revs, up and down, up and down - constantly. I tried using Premium 95 and then back down to Regular 91 petrol and neither had any effect. … Read more
Very disappointing for a brand new machine. After 3 x cuts I took it back on advice from the dealer. Will be looked at and might 'take a week' due to absences with Covid-19. Heard nothing so called after 7 days. Needs a new carburettor and is on back order. What the ??? A brand new mower needs a new carby? I asked if they realised I had only bought this mower 2 weeks ago. Didn't seem to matter I used it for 2 weeks and it had sat in the workshop for another week awaiting this part. How much longer I asked? Can't say for sure. I asked for my money back. Had to speak to the manager who pleaded with me to let them fix it. Not good enough. I took the catcher, mulch plug and parts back and asked for a full refund. In peak growing season how long do these people think I have to waste on a repair to a brand new mower....? Got the money refunded - no apologies from the staff or management. Went to the Big Green Barn to buy a Masport. What was even worse, there were 4 new LC118's all assembled sitting in the workshop - Why wouldn't you take a carby off one of those for saving time and putting the customer first? Goodbye Husqvarna - Never again!
Happy with Lawn Mower - Starts first time! – So far the Husqvarna LC18 has been great and I am very happy with the results. It is very easy to start. I have mowed my lawns 4 times in the past few weeks and it has started first time, every time! I’ve always had problems with other mowers not starting first time so it’s music to my ears every time the husky starts. I don’t have to bend over… Read more
and break my back starting this mower as it pulls closer to the handle. It runs well, is quieter and gives a very even cut and my grass is quite thick. It’s not noisy like my old Victa.
I purchased mine for $499 with a 5 year warranty and the staff were really helpful.
I have never owned a 4 stroke so I can’t compare the weight of it. I find the LC18 slightly heavy to push along but as long as it’s doing the job, I don’t mind. I like the solid construction and the power in the motor. At first I thought the catcher would be slightly difficult to use but I found there is a knack to putting the catcher in place and now I have no problems each time I mow. The handle is comfortable and folding is easy. I haven’t needed to tighten the bolts after folding.
I wish the metal height adjust was a little higher but overall I would recommend this mower and I would certainly buy it again. I haven’t used the mulcher yet because my grass has been fairly long so I will update when I use it in the future.
I researched a lot before purchasing this mower as I had a lot of worries about buying a new one. Thanks to the reviews, I was confident in purchasing the LC18. If I have any problems in the future, I will update my review.
The little Husqy that could - Mowing is so easy with this mower – If you're not big on mowing the lawn; buy this mower. If you like mowing; buy this mower. After getting sick of gardners not turning up, and attempting to tidy for people coming over - I decided it was time we bought a lawn mower. Initially I scouted Gum Tree, found a few options, then did further research - including this site. After… Read more
reading the positive reviews about this little Husqvarna lawn mower, I decided it would probably be worth doubling our initial budget, buying something new, with warranty (and 5 years at that with this mower) rather than inheriting someone else's problems.
Seriously, could not be happier. I just mowed through a foot of grass, and this mower powered through it with absolute ease. The only issue I had was regularly having to empty catcher. Long grass doesn't seem to throw into the catcher properly so it can get congested quickly. Although I have experienced the same issue with pretty much every other mower, so it's negligible - and really only relevant the first cut, because now the lawn is short once again, I'll be able to mulch it couple of weeks (instead of letting it grow to a foot again).
I took a short video which I'll see if I can't upload and link to it in the comments.
The only negative I have so far is that the height adjustment lever is tight, and you have to pull it into the wheel to change it. It's a little difficult - fortunately now I've got the height I shouldn't need to change it again.
Brilliant little mower. Starts with ease. Feels solid. Runs smooth and relatively quiet. Soft touch handle is comfortable and smooths out the almost non-existent vibrations. Pushes along very easily. Folds up well. My 50kg partner has no problems at all starting and using this mower.
Make your life easier; get a Husqvarna mower.
+ Powerful motor, easy to start, quiet
+ 5 year warranty!
+ Easy, light and comfortable to use.
- Height adjustment is a bit awkward and difficult

I love my Husqvarna mower – I purchased my LC 18, 9 years ago from the Seymour Mower Shop, Emily St Seymour Victoria. It is the best mower I have ever owned. I'm coming up to my 70th birthday and I have no trouble using it(I'm a bit on the short side), I have even used it to mow over small tree branches, so they can be composted. That's why I'm giving it 5 stars I love this mower. Show details
Purchased despite the number of negative reviews. So glad I did! – Extremely easy to start (first pull) and lightweight and easy to maneuver. I have a large yard, about an acre, and have no trouble whatsoever mowing every fortnight. I would definitely recommend this mower! A number of negative comments I'd like to address: 1) If your blades are too low, the engine will struggle no matter what mower you have.… Read more
2) The grass will get caught between the catcher and mower body if A) you don't empty it often enough b) if you mow while the grass is still very damp/wet.
Solid performer with a few niggles – The LC18 was my first choice after the old Masport started to show its age. My experience has not been perfect, however there have been no major failures in six years of ownership. I have read too many horror stories about chinese made Victas so wanted a non- chinese mower. My LC18 is the early model with the short blades and older B&S engine.… Read more
When the spark plug is close to failure the engine needs a lot of pulls to start, a new plug and it is back to starting on the first or second attempt. The large catcher is easy to fit and remove as is the mulching plug. The mower has developed a few rattles that I can’t identify, meaning it may be close to a catastrophic engine failure. The chassis and wheels are all in very good condition but a replacement engine is uneconomical. Recent reviews of the current LC18 model is a concern so I may look at another brand come replacement.
Negative reviews
Terrible mower, won’t last – Owned this for 6 years and it’s been the worst mower I’ve ever owned. The wheels stick out past the body so cutting edges next to a wall is a hassle. The catcher clip is the worst design, you have to let it slap down to clip in case just sitting it in some hooks like every other mower. The engine struggles with anything but the smallest amount of… Read more
grass. Get into a thick patch and it will struggle. Over the years I’ve lost two clips which hold the back axel on and have had to buy replacements. Then I was mowing the grass yesterday and noticed the blade kept hitting the deck, had a look and I’ve got large amounts of rust under there. 6 years old and rusted out. This hasn’t been stored with caked on wet grass either.
The good, bad and ugly! – Easy to load onto a hatchback but then compromises on cutting width Easy start, could run for 2hours Blade system deflects and prevents blade damage when it hits the curb or hard objects. Poor at cutting waxy grasses in one hit and had to rerun over the grass or drag the mower backwards. Poor front wheels design, grass seeds get stuck as you mow.… Read more
Rattles and rather noisy Catcher cracks at the tip but Husqvarna/Mowers Galore is very prompt in replacing. Brilliant after sales service!
Struggles with thicker grasses (not overgrown height). Leaves trail of mulch as you mow. Grass continually chocks between underside of chasis and blades causing engine to stall while catcher remains 70% empty Had to raise the level and mow over An hour job becomes 2 hour and continually clearing underside from stuck grass.
Real ugly side is the cost of servicing which ranges between $140-$200 at Husqvarna Dealers.
After 3 years, the mower won't start. Picked the wrong guy for repair but he said, it needed a service (cheapest quote, but then who wants to soend $200 to service a $499 mower???)
Ended up with a mower that won't slow down when required. Brought back to original dealership, thought it was all good and hunky dory, but a new problem was encountered, the mower refused to stop and when it did, it ends with a loud pop sound. Back to dealership, was charged a small fee (felt disgruntled but then could not complain as i believe he fixed the problem left by the other repairer)
It's only coming to 4years and I'm in the market for a lighter battery powered mower that does the job well
Total rubbish and a wast of money – I had a Briggs & Stratton before and that mower would cut just about anything. After 25 or so years it was ‘pensioned off’ and replaced with an LC18. It’s easy to start and a pretty orange colour but that’s all that I can say positive about it. On a couch lawn it struggles to cut even an half-mower width and has done so since it was new. Once… Read more
Spring 2021 kicks in it’s time to give this to the grandson for his ‘toy mower’ while I buy a decent one that will do the job properly. Just as well it’s easy to start because it stalls so regularly.

The Husqvarna LC18 is good for my lawn – Purchased the Husqvarna LC18 in May 2019. Perfect for my front lawn. Weekly usage is 40 mins. For my lawn, it's perfect, not big and grass is cut nicely. The catcher is perfect too. The mower usually kicks on second pull start. Engine labours on thick patches of grass, but not to point of conking out. The mower has not missed a beat. I paid $519 and I am happy with it. Show details
Not up to the job unless the lawn doesn't need mowing anyway! – The mower seems well made. It's light and easy to maneuver, starts easily and the small catcher is easy to use and works well. However, it is simply lacking the power to cut grass that is over a few inches high without pushing very slowly, which makes progress very slow and frustrating. Valve cearances, air filter, spark plug and carby are all checked and found OK, the mower is simply gutless and I regret buying it. Show details
Will not start – We bought this lawnmower a couple of years ago. It replaced a Rover which had given years of excellent service. From the very beginning it was difficult to start. Despite repairs, and four visits to workshops it has remained increasingly difficult to start (35-40 pulls to get a reaction). We are both 70 and worried about back problems. The mower… Read more
floods easily, cuts unevenly and the catcher is loose and difficult to attach. Once started the motor runs well, but we do not relish the huge effort needed to start the machine. Very disappointing.
Average ! Underpowered – My old 18" cut 5 HP Rover was dying so upgraded to the Husky LC18, nice and light , starts easily and wife enjoys using it , BUT underpowered to hell , if I mow weekly its good if I'm away a couple of weeks (away up to 3 weeks at a time with job) and it rains (typical QLD summer) the Husky hasn't got a hope , I get out the old Rover to knock the… Read more
grass down then go back to the Husky, if I didn't have the old Rover would have to mow twice , not the ideal scenario , if I had time over would have organised a demo and got a mower the equivalent power to the Rover. Has a 3.75 HP engine needs at least a 4.5-5 HP to be any good with anything other than weekly cut.
for the money it does the job just fine – as has been said the catcher is a bit tricky, other than that the mower is perfectly adequate for a small yard. mulcher works perfectly as long as grass isn't too long. At half the price of a honda it isn't a bad mower. Easy to start, starts first or second go with no choke or primer. Show details
Trick for catcher – I recently purchashed an LC18 and could not get the catcher on. Took it back to place of purchase and even the owner struggled to get on. But once on he told to me to leave it in the sun with catcher on and this will make the catcher go on and off easier in future. Sounds crazy but left it in the sun for 2hrs and then stored overnight with catcher… Read more
on and low and behold it WORKED. Catcher goes on and off without any effort. Hope this helps others with similar issue.
Catcher doesn't attach – I cant get the catcher to work either...apart from that its ok. It's a bit lacking in power but the catcher just does my head and back in everytime I try to use it. If I cant use the catcher I might as well not have it...very frustrated...Why is this so hard is there a trick to it. Show details
Big bucks for not much – Have had a Husqvarna ride on for 12 years and love it so had no hesitation buying this brand but after this mowers very first use my perception of Husqvarna changed. It's only used to cut in around the edges where the ride on doesn't go so it luckily doesn't get flogged - The power is gutless and I've given up using the catcher as it just… Read more
doesn't catch....just as well it comes with a mulching kit.
Also when cleaning after its first use the engine paint began peeling off when wiped with a soft cloth. It was taken straight to the dealer where purchased who took photos and apparently forwarded to his Husqvarna rep but still waiting for a response over 12 months later. I was happy to pay for the brand name and five year warranty on this mower but not sure if it's worth the extra $ as they don't seem to be able to get paint to stick.
Definitely would recommend you look elsewhere before buying this mower.
Well priced, decent mower – Did our research on several mowers before making our purchase. Husqvarna was well priced, great quality and the place we bought from delivered it for free and picked up our old mower. This model is great value for money. Easy to use, starts quickly and so light! Product and Reputation Speak For Themselves – After being so impressed with the level of service given to me by The Mower Mega Store in West Gosford it was easy for me to go ahead and replace my old mower which was not an Husqvarna (they gave a reasonable trade in price) with a new Husqvarna LC18. The mower performs excellently in all facets of operation particularly the effortless way it… Read more
starts first time every time and looking back I am crazy for buying cheap China made mower now sold by an household Australian brand that I will never ever buy again. Actually when comes to gardening equipment I avoid China garbage like the plague now. You just have to be much smarter and pay that little bit extra, believe me it is worth it in the long run.
Best Mower - Use it for my Small Business – I have been shopping around for age's on a mower, Value for Money, for Lightness, and easy to use, Ease to start. and All round quality. I gotta say . This was easy. Best investment I have made. I run a small business, This Lawnmower, has already proven itself to be reliable Show details
Never again. Frame has corroded away – The frame has corroded away rendering it useless. The cuttings come out the side of the frame instead of going into the catcher. I wish I had stuck with Rover. The Briggs and Stratton motor (not a Husqvarna motor ?!!? incidentally) is like new, and still on the original spark plug, and starts first time every time. I am disappointed because I believed that I was buying real quality. Show details
Too hard to manoeuvre – Cuts ok, cannot manoeuvre this Tank, maybe a tank might be easier! Catcher release flap awful, have to bang it to secure catcher instead of just lowering it, why isn't it metal instead of plastic, you sort of need to push hard in the centre so you end up bending the edges up so it will catch the catcher, sometimes I think I'm going to put my hand… Read more
through the flap.
Lately when folding handle down you release the locks on the side and the handle won't fold down and starter cord falls out of pig tail holder.
Still starting easy but I wish I had kept my 23yo Rover
Not happy – Catcher hard to remove and replace. Clippings fail to enter the rear of catcher, hence they are forced to exit from the sides, giving the impression that there was not a catcher attached at all! Agree with others' comments -poor machine for a lot of money. I hope that the manufacturer monitors this site. Show details
Worth the money – In March this year I splurged out and bought what I believed to be a decent lawnmower, sick of the $199 or less mowers that you have never heard of the brand at large hardware outlets I searched for a name that I could trust. Almost 8 months later and it runs like a dream and actually makes the yard look better than the previous mowers I have… Read more

To me, buying from an authorized dealer gives you the sense that you are covered a lot easier than these large stores. Warranty and a local dealer / service shop is an added bonus that it doesn't have to be sent away and become someone elses problem and forgotten about.
Anyway, back to the mower, it cuts well (it could probably do with a couple more different blade heights as I find myself putting it on the 2nd lowest setting as the 3rd lowest just seems to blow dry the grass) but apart from that it does its job. Well worth the money in my opinion.
just average – Purchased new from husky dealer in rural victoria. NO choke easy start motor but will sometimes be hard to start, when it does its quiet and fairly powerful but catcher fitting is poor and has a habit of looseing the retaining clips that hold the front axle to the body which is a pain. Service at the dealer is not cheap had it done after around 15… Read more
mnths and was nearly $200. Overall lc18 is fair mower but nowhere near as good as a new masport mower i purchased about 15 years ago to mow a double block and never gave a moments problem till it wore out the base
Good but not the best – Purchased this model from a local Husqvarna dealer after comparing it to Victa's and other models. This one seemed the best. It has served me fairly well over the past 24 months, the only issues being the rubber padding where you push the mower got a big tear in it within only 6 months of brand new (and I used it gently), and it blows a massive amount of smoke after it's started sometimes. The front wheel is broken when we bought it – This mower works fine, we are happy with the result of cutting; BUT one of the wheel in the front does not move, because it was not balanced in horizontal line with the other one!! And the shop refuse to exchange a new one for the reason the machine itself works fine! Our family was not happy because it is tired to operate a mower with only 3 wheels! Show details
Lemon warning – I own a lc18. It's been nothing but trouble. It wouldn't turn off. I checked the manual to recheck my memory on what to do and followed the instructions. Damn mower gave me a shock. myself. Thing is a lemon its still got 2 1/2 years warranty on it.
I am not willing or interested in taking the machine in for another repair.
You should offer people a refund once it gets to this point.
Your firm should also correct your manual. Don't list in your manual to pull off the spark plug. I followed your instructions thinking you must've had some earthing for the machine. Nope got a boot. As you can see it's not how you do it cause HUMANS CONDUCT ELECTRICITY.

Also don't put a picture of the mower laying on it's side in the manual as you do on page 6. People think that's what you can do as it's in the manual. If like me you follow the manual you end up with a costly repair not covered by warranty as Husqvarna will tell you the machine isn't meant to be laid on it's side. And no amount of showing the photo of the mower on it's side in the manual to Husqvarna will mean you they'll waive the repair bill.
Thanks worst mower ever – This mower is a total waste of money it has no power too cut the lightest of grass , cuts like a wet dogs tale and grass catch never fills up stay well away from it lots of better cheaper options out there hopefully they sort the next model out Show details

O.K. Update. I got good service! They tested it out across the road in a field and, saw it, just was stalling all the time. It just has no power! Was lucky to get a good mower shop. So in turn i purchased a New Honda lawn mower and new Honda whipper snipper. you have to reward good service.
So i would really leave Husqvarna LC18 alone
