Kmart 1300W Steam Mop

Purchased 2 months ago, worked for a couple of weeks. Stopped steaming, took back for refund and purchased the other one they sell with the hand steamer. Floor steamer worked for a couple of weeks again started steaming on and off. Hand steamer seemed to work fine. I searched everywhere for second receipts and could not find. Phoned local… Read more
kmart, they said bring them both back and we will exchange. Both meaning I purchased a stick vacuum with second steam mop and stick vacuum won't stay closed. The clip is flimsy and keeps popping open. I now have 2 products that should not be sold, obviously weren't tested long enough. I am totally over kmart products, I seem to be returning everything I purchase, due to faults. I spoke to customer service today to change my email address and was told I could not and had to open another account. This is unacceptable every other company has let me change my email address including my gov. KMart really needs to look at itself and the people they employ. I'm glad we have a big W here.
I recently purchased my second steam mop from Kmart and was very disappointed with the experience. Although the price was about the same as my previous model, this newer unit has fewer features and performs poorly. The steam adjustment function has been removed, and the amount of steam produced is minimal — barely enough to wet the floor pad. As a… Read more
result, the unit’s cleaning performance is very poor and makes it a waste of time to use. I ended up returning it for a full refund. Overall, this model is a definite downgrade from the previous version and not worth the purchase.

I was given the K Mart steam mop as a gift…I realise it is not a high end product, but it is excellent value for what it is. It is sturdy with an exceptionally long power cord, and I love the swivel head for those hard to reach places. It works a treat. My only complaints are….It comes with only one cleaning pad…also… the opening on the tank is way too small, filling it without spilling water everywhere is impossible. Show details · 1

Excellent value for money – I read all the reviews & it came highly recommended, I have old vinyl flooring, which i mop very regularly & a new puppy that peed on a rug. After purchasing the steam mop, I was very surprised at how dirty the floors actually are. They came up nice & clean, doesn't leave the rugs soaking wet, only damp to touch. Extending handle was perfect. I… Read more
highly recommend & suggest buying extra replacement pads. The only thing that isn't a bother is that it needs to stand upright because the cord is a little heavy. Pads are easily cleaned with warm soapy water then a cold rinse.
Wont last – Refill twice to clean terrace house. Floors are left wet but okay if leave for a bit. Replace pads after each use but that is easy. Cord length is good.only problem is the unit stops working properly after only a couple of months or so. It make s all the right noises but there is barely any steam the unit does not seem to heat up enough to make steam so it is now useless. Show details

Better than the Karcher SC3 and 1/7th of the price! – Unable to leave review on Kmart's website as I always opt out of getting review links sent, however this product impressed me so much that I had to write a review somewhere. My Karcher SC3 that I've owned for a few years decided to cark it the other day. Repair services wanted $100-$150 to fix it, which is about what I paid for the machine… Read more · 1
originally when on sale. Tried to fix it myself to no avail. Saw this for $49 and thought I'd give it a shot. This works BETTER than a Karcher!
The cleaning pads are super soft and pick up every piece of dirt easily. The Karcher ones are thin rubbish and so much smaller in surface area that it often required several passes to lift things up.
Also, the triangular nature of the pad made getting really close to corners so easy and breezy. Karcher has rectangular pads that just pushed the dirt into the corner.
Also, this thing gets HOT! The floor dries so quickly compared to Karcher too.
Pros: *Will pick up small debris missed by the vacuum (hair etc) *Big fluffy triangle cleaning pads and swivel head get into the corners super easily *Adjustable handle height *Floor dries insanely quick because the water gets boiling hot *Very quick start up time of 15-30 seconds *Water jug included which perfectly fits the fill hole *Cleaning it is easy - Just use watered down vinegar as stated in the manual
Cons: *Does not have a start/stop button on the machine itself. I would feel safer having one on there. Only an indicator of when it is turned on. *Cord length is perfectly adequate, but if cleaning a big open plan room, you may need an extension lead or unplug/replug it in at different sockets. *Smaller tank than a Karcher, but if you only need it for one room or a small area like me, it's a non issue. *Is a bit weighty to carry around for long periods of time. The Karcher can be carted around like a vacuum and doesn't need to held. Once again, depends on your home needs.
Don't be fooled into thinking this machine won't do what you need it to do because it's only $49. It absolutely will and does!
I used this on ceramic tile floors. Didn't try on carpet as I have a wet vac already for that purpose.
Note: I'm not sponsored by Kmart or Karcher. Bought both with my own money and thought the comparison may be helpful for those considering differing price points and brands.
Poor design, unsafe, doesnt actually get hot enough to clean anything. Ok if $20 maybe but not $50 – Heres the facts, -The steam temp at the mop head (the microfibre pad, is around 45 to 50 degrees. Initially. -You cannot put anything in the water tank so it relys on steam alone to kill, and clean the floor. -The pads (only one in the box) get soaked and the velcro tabs are insufficient to hold the pad on, meaning the pad falls off, even when… Read more
dry unless you play around and force ot to stick.
-Theres no simple on/off switch, meaning you have to pull the plug and watch the sparkes fly if it falls over while your unplugging it. Potential electrocution.
-They leak water, no easy way to drain it out, and even with the mop head removed the steam pressure comibg out is luke warm and in my opinion less than my $12 steam irons pressure.
-It buzzes and feels like its live, tingling sensation on the handle, and the appliance IS NOT EARTHED? Double insulated aparently, but who trusts the labour camp that made this to do that correctly?
-The cable is short.
-Why anyone would use this on their carpets blows my mind? May as well get a pump sprayer and just damp down all your carpets with water. (It doesnt get hot enough to do anything, apart from introduce moisture to an allready thriving carpet bacteria breeding ground.)
In summary i will be taking ours back and just buying another oats folding mop and using boiling water with detergent again in a cat litter tray. Same time, same damp level on floor, cheaper, no electricity use, and you know its chemically cleaning the floor. And not to mention cheaper, no steam mop falling over and carrying on crazy squirting water out everywhere while you try and unplug it from the wall.
Good for price – For the price I am pretty happy with this little steam mop. Refilling the tank is easy and quick so not sure why people complain? If it was double the capacity others would say it was too heavy to push. Floor is dry pretty quickly and I do like the option to glide over my carpets after vacuuming, I learned from a friend's experience to never ever… Read more
put oils in your tank as it will ruin mop so I spray some eucalyptus on the capet then glide over, smells amazing and fresh - helps kill germs that maybe hiding. (Steam mops never actually clean carpets)
I can get away with one pad for kitchen, lounge, hallway and 1 bathroom. Would have been great if it included 2 pads but it wasn't too expensive to get extra set. I just chuck in washing machine quick cycle when done and hang to dry.
As for the cord no it's not super long and not retractable so again if it was longer people would complain it's in their way when packed up or makes it heavier to carry to put away. I just use an extra extension cord.
Would I reccomend? Yes if you're wanting a quick light weight no fuss steam mop to replace your current mop and bucket.

Great value – I purchased the steam mop in 2019 and it hasn’t missed a beat. It does only come with 1 microfibre pad but a box of 3 extra is only $10 and well worth the money. For my full house (small 3 bed) I need to refill the tank once. Lifts the dirt from textured tiles without issue, takes 5-10 mins for floors to dry completely. I change the pads once… Read more
for living areas; twice if doing bathrooms too. The cord length is decent, much like a corded vacuum you’ll need to change power points moving from room to room. For the price point it’s been fantastic and I can’t fault it.
Just what I was looking for – I needed a small and simple steam mop for our kitchen tiles. With a toddler in our house the floor needs to be done often and also dry quickly. This steam mop does a really good job. I just run over tiles with the stick vacuum first. Love not using any cleaning agents. By the time I finish, the first half or more is already dry. Agree the power… Read more · 1
cord is very short. I just use a 2m extension cord and solves the issue. Easy to fill. Easy to attach and remove the pad. Easy to use. Read instructions first and you’ll have no problems. Love it!!
Love the steam cleaner – I bought this on line but picked it up in Armidale when we went up there, It was an exceptionally easy transaction. It is very easy to use and the water isn't all used even when I fill it, to just under the Max fill line
Negative reviews
Horrible – Don’t waste your money. Pay the extra and get something that lasts longer than three uses. Pours water everywhere making the floors slippery and I have to stand in the same spot for five minutes to get anything off the floor. I’d rather not even wash the floors than use this again. As a mum of three, that’s saying something! Show details

Hoping for a solution… – I have purchased two of these steam mops. Very happy with product as far as ease of mopping, cleaning and price. However the one frustrating problem with the mop is that the cleaning pad does not stay attached to bottom of mop due to failure of the Velcro to do its job. Hence spend most part of the chore chasing pad around floor. Replacing with new pads no improvement. If anyone has a decent fix on this I would be very grateful.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may have… Read more
Does the job for the price – Comes with 1 pad and the store I purchased from has been out of the replacements for a while, would definitely benefit from having a spare pad to continue mopping while washing the other pad The tank so far will do the bathroom twice if just quick mop but otherwise if trying to get it really clean will need to refill Tiles and lino are left wet… Read more
after use
Cord is ok length but pretty much need to replug in each room and the plastic cord holder up top if flimsy and doesn't grab the cord half the time
Gets the basic dirt off but no good for anything in the grout lines unfortunately
For under $50 it's ok but not really worth it
Would 100% invest in another branded one next time and just spend the extra money

Not a serious steam mop – Even at such a cheap price this mop is not value for money. It does an OK job of cleaning the floor but is difficult to fill, doesn't stand up properly and the steam cuts in and out every 30 seconds or so. It doesn't leave the floor even close to dry and leaks all the time. It has no optional attachments and so is only usable on the floor, not for cleaning taps/basins etc. A half decent mop and bucket does a better job overall.

Get what you pay for – Water constantly drips out of the tank and when not in use it must also leak because the floor is always wet where it sits. The cord is not nearly long enough, it always topples over causing more spillage and when used it leaves the floor wet and then it dries with streak marks. Only the edges and very middle of the pad touches the floor so it… Read more

Do not recommend – I think it cleans the floor well. But, my biggest problem I've got with this product is, I'm still left with water on the floor and you can see dried water marks all over the floor. The whole reason I wanted a steam mop was so the floor wouldn't be left wet and I wanted to avoid the dried water marks. Is mine faulty or do others have the same issue? Show details

Can not recommend – I bought the Kmart steam mop, it worked for 2 weeks, started making a strange noise, wouldn’t heat up, wouldn’t produce steam. I exchanged it for another one, which lasted 10 days, then wouldn’t heat up properly & wouldn’t produce steam. I also found it would no stand up on its own and fell over frequently. The tank is awkward to fill, and doesn’t seal well. Show details

Fairly useless – Doesn't clean well at all. Only the edges of the pad touch the floor. The floor dried streaky. A bit has dropped off, and I only bought it in late October. Oh and it constantly falls over. It's going back. Show details
Okayish! – Was expecting high after reading some great reviews, but not really satisfied. Cord is not long enough, the adhesive plate with which you attach your cleaning pad is poor quality, it just wont stick. The building material doesn't look durable too. Machine looks okay for the price, cleans fine but not as efficient, takes longer to clean. Not too… Read more
expensive, you are getting what you are paying for. But not really a fancy jump from traditional mop to steam mop.
Perfect - if I could use it! – My steam mop arrived from Kmart Australia with a US plug! No adaptor in box. Cannot use it until I can get out of lockdown to buy an adaptor! Disappointed. Show details

Read Me – I love the clean feel steam gives a floor. My first gadget was an expensive one worth nearly $300. It lasted about 2 years. I promised myself I wouldn't pay that much again. Thanks Hahn. Well, sometimes I go out on a whim and try cheaper products. Who would've guessed the KMart machine does the same job?!? Sure it's a bit of a cheaper build, but… Read more
steam is steam and my floors certainly can't tell the difference. Let's see how long it lasts. So far, over a year - it's halfway there :) and at a fraction of the price. Oh, we use it on our wood floors - no problems. Obviously we wouldn't let it sit in one spot steaming away. It's a great little machine.
It works really well and I'm impressed – The refill tank has a tiny hole The floor is a little wet, which makes sense because it's a steam mop but it makes the floors look amazing! I thought the floors were clean until we used this mop and were shocked at the dirt it got off. I wish I bought some extra cleaning pads though, it only comes with one. the chord length is alright. only used it once but I'm excited to use it again. If you're worried about spending big bucks on a steam mop, give this one a try, it's not expensive and cleans the floors really well. We have lino and tiled floors, I haven't tried it on carpet yet though.
Don't buy – Stopped working after not much time. Worked great before. Loved it before it stopped working. Do not buy if you want something that lasts. Only want to clean my house today and can't.
Excellent piece of household cleaning equipment, v easy to operate and does a great job – I think this economical steam mop from K-Mart is FANTASTIC!! I have high gloss tiled floors and it brings them up with such a shine. I put a small amount of vinegar in with the water and only need to refill the water tank once during the process. The microfibre cloth attachment gets quite dirty but is easy to clean. I use it with a 3m extension lead which is adequate. I definitely recommend this steam mop. Show details
Great product with good price tag – I'm abit shocked by the reviews as I'm pretty happy with it. I live in a reasonable sized house and I find I always have some water left over in the tank. I haven't used it on the carpet but on tiles it does the job. This is the first time owning a steam mop but I have used one previously for work and find this one works alot better (though I… Read more
have to admit the one at my work was pretty old and probably been dropped multiple times). The cord length is abit shorter than expected but nothing like an extended cord can't fix. It cleans the floor beautifully and have little to no trouble getting the marks off the floor.
Breaks after only a few uses – I’m on my second one now. The first lasted a few months and then stopped working but had been good prior so I bought another tho it’s slightly different to the first and uses different pads and the previous pads weren’t compatible as the steam isn’t strong enough to penetrate the thicker material. The second one has only lasted 5 uses and now… Read more
will not produce more than a trickle of steam, it literally stopped working after one room. I tried turning it off and letting it sit a while which had worked before but it’s having none of it and just will not work :-( I use it every other day so it not sat around without use for long periods of time.
Not worth the time or money, spend a bit more and get something that actually lasts. I would return it but do t have the receipt anymore :-(
Won’t last long – Short cord, broke/didn’t function after 5 uses ie no steam, basic tiled floor, small home and didn’t keep up. Hard to fill, had to refill often, pads fall off just Velcro. But it is cheap and you get what you pay for. Show details
Inferior to previous model! – I purchased this model as a replacement for a previous model with a rectangular head that I was very happy with. This model however is nothing like it and I’m very disappointed in it. As mentioned by another reviewer, the pad does not adhere to the bottom of the mop and if you lift it slightly it falls off. The handle even when clipped into place… Read more
slides back down with the slightest pressure. After 2 uses, the water no longer heats up so no steam! It’s going back to the shop. Please bring back the old model which whilst it only lasted two years. It did a brilliant job until the handle broke. Build them to last so we are not constantly contributing to our landfill!
Cheap and nasty – At first this steamer was ok, but on the second use the extendable handle kept going down when you used it because it simply is not made well enough to stay in place. Then the pads would not stick to the steamer and now it just rolls up underneath. I bought this because I thought one steam mop does exactly what another does, heats up to steaming… Read more
