10000 PERCENT! this COMPANY is FRAUDULENT! I just saw my credit score went down by 4 points for a new enquiry with LAYBUY on the 24 of May 2025, that I didn't do. I KNOW THEY DID IT LOL I signed up with them in 2021 and I didn't end up using them. Customer service is useless, it doesn't exist. How can I raise a dispute with LAYBUY when it's a… Read more
GHOST. Stay away from this SHAAAADY ASSS COMPANY, don't even think about signing up unless you want to see your credit score randomly get enquires from them LOL What a joke! Hope they are being investigated.
Wasted money – Been waiting over 1 month for products I have paid for, got told they will send tracking number when items were sent still waiting. Never get a response from them and can't contact them on phone.
Terrible customer service – Customer service is non existent. Terrible company to do business with. Just do better Laybuy.
Krystie- castle hill – Convenient parking. Professional and personable sales person who was most helpful and understood our requirements. We recommend her for a well deserved Christmas bonus.
Laybuy doesn't care about fraud – Account was used to make $330 purchase. Had to trace and cancel it my self. Laybuy has had zero contact with me about it.
DO NOT USE THIS WEBSITE – Someone is trying to log into my account. I can't even change my password.. This website is completely fraudulent. DO NOT USE! Do not add any of your personal details or credit card information.
Good luck trying to contact the support team. Claim a 1 day usually reply but more like 3+ days – Very poor support system. Unlike most of these pay in instalments companies, LayBuy has a very poor customer service in place. The only way to contact them is either on the website with a very hard to find widget, which turns into a message bank, or on email. Have emailed a few times and absolutely appalling times. I recently emailed enquiring… Read more
about the hardship case on a particular order as I had a few emergency things needing to prioritise, and asked if I could delay an orders payment for a few weeks whilst I got my other things sorted. Have had no response at all after 4 days of trying to contact them, both on the support email and the website message bank. They claim they take hardship message very seriously and are prompt are responding to them when someone approaches them for that topic but it’s all a sham. What’s ironic is they’re more than happy about taking any upcoming payments first. Every other place that has instalment base payments has such an easy support to contact and I’ve never had to wait anymore than a a day to hear back from other companies if I have any questions. They claim responses are handled within a day of receiving, absolutely ridiculous claim. They either wait you a good week + before replying and it’s usually a short response or you get nothing back from them.
CHARGED ME FOR NOTHING! COMPLETE FRAUD – Tried to charge me $751.55 for nothing. I never purchased anything from them. They put a debt collecting company on me to visit my own home to tell me I had debt with them. I had to contact the police and my own lawyer as I had only made an account with them and had never done anything else. This company is an absolute fraud and if you need to… Read more
talk to customer service team, they do not even have a number you can call. You can email them but they are unlikely to get back to you. This has been absolutely terrible for me as I have no debts and I am a very financially conscious person so this whole experience was extremely frightening and I got not assistant by LayBuy whatsoever. Please never use unless you want them to charge you for nothing and have debt collectors chase you for no reason
Customer service does not exist – I am a merchant and tried signing up to Laybuy so I could offer it on my site - you’d think they would have great customer service considering I’m bringing them money but no. They rejected me as my site wasn’t live which I fixed immediately and replied. That was 8 weeks ago! Since then I’ve sent about 5x emails and tried to sign up about 4x where… Read more
it says it takes 1-2 days to process which is a total joke! Still have not heard a thing. I give up and will just offer AfterPay instead ….
No good – Tried to sign up with them numerous times, but still my application not accepted, very disappointing to say the least.
Laybuy Application Unsuccessful – Got the unsuccessful message after signup up. Not sure why I got rejected albeit I have got a very good credit score. Read other review, then I decided I won't ever come back and sign up. I give up on Laybuy.
Do not touch this company – I definite wouldn’t deal with this company. Shady as hell and I’m sure it won’t be around for much longer.
BUYER BEWARE! INCORRECT FEES STILL DEFAULTING ON CREDIT RATING – Please see attached photo that could be you! I recently went to finance a car only to find I had 2 defaults from laybuy which had me defaulting for the past 3 years stating I was 480 days in arrears still currently now every month. I have sent numerous emails over the past 2 months. I sent emails to their collections team only to be told that… Read more
laybuy don’t mark your credit report. Which is is 100 % untrue. I was told my complaint had been sent to the head of credit and I still have not heard back 1 word. I have gone through my bank statement and have been incorrectly charged fees dating right back to 2019 when I initially opened the account. It shows payments been made on time and then 2 days later been charged late fees. If you have a laybuy account you need to take the time and look over your bank statements to see if you have been charged correctly. This has seriously effected my credit rating and made it impossible for me to finance a car. The incorrect late fees back date to 2019. Attached is a laybuy I had where fees were charged and I wasn’t overdue. This has now sat on my credit rating and defaulted for 2 years.

Customer service is sooooo slow – Unfortunately there is no help button the only way to get help is to send an email and wait days for customer service to reply
Proceed with caution! – Be weary of this company. They will deny your application even with an excellent credit score. Very unsettling after providing all your personal details and creating an account and password and only receiving automated responses to my queries. Upsetting for an Australian company, but only have to read the reviews. Major room for improvement. Stick with Zip or Afterpay!
Worst buy now pay later in Australia – What an appalling "company" I use that term loosely, they have no customer support and attempt to take money out of your account any time they please and not on the date you nominate therefore incurring late fees to raise revenue, be warned, very dodgy indeed.
Terrible – Only help service is through email which takes far too long. Also decline you with vague reasoning despite having other BNPL services active.
Don't bother – Dont bother, got rejected immediately after application with no provided reason, I have great credit and stable income, contacted customer support, based on the recent reviews here, don't think they'll be much help, just hope it doesn't affect my credit score.
This terrible. Very unprofessional – Do not recommend at all. They do not provide any clarity as to why you have been rejected. They revert to regurgitating a script of information they have prepared and use on group of different customers. They have their own system of accepting certain people they want and it is quiet evident as they have denied many people with good credit. Other than that just unprofessional and lazy bot like responses.
Don't waste your time! – I have a good credit score, applied for layby, got rejected with no reason as to why and then it dragged my credit score down by 31 points. Very unhappy.
Terrible is an understatement! – Do not use this company under any circumstances! They do not have a phone number only email and they DO NOT RESPOND. I paid for my first purchase with Laybuy boost and they took the extra amount (above my limit) from my card and never paid the merchant and also didn’t create any order number in my Laybuy account so it’s like it never happened.… Read more
Trying to get the $340 back through my bank but I can’t prove that the merchant wasn’t paid. Worst of all I still owe the merchant for the service and it’s been over a month now! I have sent many emails and just get one back after 7 days saying they are soooo busy and will get to me eventually. Not even remotely good enough.
Dont even Bother – been waiting for 2 months for my item to arrive cancelled order, layby do not make it easy to refund and no person to directly contact at layby ,and even harder if the merchant you buy from are IDIOTS ,so much trouble and effort for so little convenience

Awful, awful company – My Laybuy account - which I had used ONCE, now regrettably - was hacked by God knows who. The fraudsters were able to buy a gift card with a large around attached and get money out of my card linked to the account. First of all, Laybuy do not have two-factor authentication - the first I found out was a ‘congratulations on your purchase email.’ … Read more
As soon as I discovered the fraud, I cancelled my card, leaving me without access to money for a period of time. That was annoying.
I then contacted Laybuy only to be told they would be able to refund my money. I told the representative (I have dealt with at lest six of them) that they wouldn’t be able to refund money on a cancelled card. No, no, they said. We can do it.
Long story short, 18 days later, they have no refunded my money, and have also not shut my account (as I instructed). Nobody has called me directly. I have sent at least 18 messages, perhaps more, over the course of 18 days. They do not appear to have a presence onshore.
Utterly comical. Of the buy-now-pay-later companies these guys are dead last. Completely shambolic. They do not care about customers and their conduct has been immoral. Presently the case is with AFCA.
Dodgy credit checks – Laybuy runs extra credit checks on existing customers without letting you know, and these credit enquires have a real negative impact your credit score. When contacted, they refuse to do anything about it.
Declined acc and put a mark on my credit report!!! – I highly recommend that no one even applies for this service. They refused me an account and put a black mark on my credit report. ABSOLUTE JOKE!! Afterpay is much more efficient and professional. Avoid LAYBUY if you can!
Crooks!!! – They took my details all until I got to the license part. I never gave them my license details and just exited the application but somehow they proceeded with the application, declined me and put a mark on my credit report! Contacted their horrible customer service and they don't even read what you say to them! That's even if they respond! Delete my information and the mark you put on my credit report you crooks!
zero out of five! – Left standing at a shop for over an hour because payment wouldn't go through. Added my card twice so I know number was correct, definitely had the funds in my bank and had a limit of $1200. No contact number for laybuy (as they don't care about "us"). Sent four messages to laybuy desperately trying to get through to customer service, cried, and… Read more
then the store worker offered to pay for me out of his own account!!! Have had a response now and yes it is a problem on laybuy's end. So now I have to pay back the shopkeeper asap when I actually don't have the money next week and will probably struggle to afford groceries. Was a job already completed and was irreversible. Shocking. I hope they get afterpay.
Good product – Good product, I like the app and the paywave option is great. It just needs a higher credit limits and optional repayment frequencies. As they get more accepted stores, they will be superior to Afterpay before you know it.
Tidy app easy to use – Easy to use and intuitive. Bought some new t-shirts in JD sports. Splits nicely into six payments. Brand looking on point. Purple Heart style looks good to attract younger target market.
Thieves, nothing less – This seems to be a common practice for these types of companies.. I have also had this happen with Humm and Openpay. I can create an account just fine, add a card, all good. I go to order something, I get an error message saying the order has failed, or there are insufficient funds, yet low and behold money is gone from my account. In the 8 TIMES… Read more
this has now happened across Laybuy, Openpay and Humm, I haven't seen a penny in refunds. And every time it's a different excuse. The latest was them claiming that I got the CVC for my card wrong which is impossible because how can they take money off a card with an incorrect CVC??? I am absolutely done with these companies and will never use them again.
Bad service, no help and clunky – Went to Join Laybuy and the app kept shutting down, tried to join on my phone through the website and a similar thing happened again. Once I got through and started joining I wasn't approved and then couldn't contact anyone to discuss. Waste of time.
Great Easy to use no fuss – Great interest free company no real issues easy to use app and simple signup, have no issues so far :) cons: no way to move an upcoming pay date if needed would be a welcome option.
great easy to shop easily on the budget – easy to sign up and use and 6 easy equal payments, list of retailers is growing, online and instore accessible, love to able grab the sales for needs and presents.
