Regretful purchase Auto and ECO modes = poor cleaning performance, and wet dishes. Intensive, Hi-Temp, and Steam modes = good cleaning performance, but after several washes the upper spray arm warps from the heat and no longer can spin due to contact with the upper rack, so needs to be removed and bent back straight by placing heavy weights on it… Read more

In the store we were so excited about this purchasing this appliance and were happy to spend the extra money on a higher end model - thinking it would be a game changing appliance for our busy family. While it promised a lot, it delivered a little. Wash cycles upwards of 3 hours, and despite the steam option, it wouldn't clean soft peanut butter… Read more

off spoons. Less than 8 months after purchase, it got worse. The machine started cutting out mid-wash and after we tried a number of basic troubleshooting options (clearing the drain, cleaning the filter, unplugging from the wall - leaving for a few minutes and plugging in again), nothing changed. No error codes, no warnings, the app was useless.

I reported the fault with the retailer in July and the experience since then has been extremely disappointing. After lodging the issue, I was told the repair had been assigned to an authorised service centre — but despite multiple follow‑ups, the repairer never received the required part. They advised me directly that the part was on backorder and that LG wasn’t responding to their attempts to secure it, suggesting I contact LG myself to try to get things moving.

When I contacted LG, I was told the part had been ordered weeks earlier but still had no ETA. Days later, LG advised the part wouldn’t be available until mid‑September — more than seven weeks after the fault was first reported. Only after pushing back did LG offer a replacement or refund, but even that approval has been slow and still remains unresolved.

We purchased a new appliance expecting reliability and support. Instead, we’ve been left without a functioning dishwasher for nearly two months, with poor communication, long delays, and no sense of urgency from anyone involved. This has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve had with a major brand. Never again buying LG!

We finally upgraded our 10 year old Bosch dishwasher to a new unit. We were at first going to buy another, but have had a good run with some other LG appliances so we bought a LG unit. all relevant information and was denied as this is apparently not a manufacturing defect. I work in the automotive industry and am well aware of a poor plastic when I see one. Considering the Bosch lasted over 10 years and we never had any issues with the plastic, I find this very poor on behalf of LG. At the end of the day it’s a push and release tag inside a machine that gets hundreds of heat cycles through it and obviously is not made to last… not happy!

To begin with, this dishwasher was fantastic. It cleaned exceptionally well, was quiet, and every function worked exactly as it should... while it was under warranty. Then, just a few months after the warranty expired, at around 15 months of ownership, the problems began. The dishwasher started displaying an AE error, indicating a leak had… Read more

activated the flood sensor in the base of the machine. I removed the kick plate and found water in the flood sensor tray. I thought perhaps it was just a one-off incident.

Then it happened again a month later.

Three weeks after that, it happened yet again.

At that point I decided to investigate further. What I found was completely unacceptable. The bottom door seal was literally disintegrating at the slightest touch. Whatever material it was originally made from, whether rubber or silicone, had completely broken down. Running my finger along the seal left black residue on my hand, and pieces simply crumbled away (see photos). The seal had the consistency of plasticine rather than a durable gasket. It had lost all structural integrity. I have just been repeating the draining of the sensor to keep it going.

To say I was disappointed would be a massive understatement. This isn't normal wear and tear. It's a critical component that appears to have deteriorated prematurely, allowing water to escape and repeatedly trigger the leak sensor.

People often say modern appliances aren't built to last, but failing barely three months after the warranty expires is simply unacceptable. A dishwasher is a major household appliance that should provide many years of reliable service, not just enough to make it past the warranty period.

If you're looking for a dishwasher that performs well for the first 12 months, then this LG model may suit you. However, if you're expecting a quality appliance that's built to last, I cannot recommend it. Based on my experience, I won't be purchasing another LG dishwasher.

the middle and catches on the taller cutlery in the cutlery tray even though their height does not impede on the upper spin arm. Cutlery tray develops holes in the bottom plastic mesh in the middle compartments under the handle and need to be careful no handles are placed downwards as they can fall through and stop the lower wash arm from spinning. Plastic mesh on bottom of the tray looks flimsy. Dishwasher leaked from new on the Intensive cycle. The leak was fixed under warranty. There are no power consumption figures of each cycle. The Intensive and Eco cycles are close to 3 hours except turbo cycle at 1hr. A 2hr mid temp cycle would be ok. Cannot seem to connect to wifi to download an extra cycle anymore. Hooked it up once to view the cycles on offer and the extra cycles didn’t appeal but now it will not connect anymore. The cutlery tray is designed so can place taller cooking utensils and lay them at an angle to fit under the upper wash arm height but still need to be sure they do not hit the low hanging centre knob from the upper wash arm. There is no tray to place sharp knives on in top. Usually slide them in from front behind the glasses.

Have had this dishwasher slightly over 3 years. It is OK. Not as good as I had hoped it would be, and honestly not as good as the ancient and cheap Bosch it replaced. more dishes, and you have nicely spread cutlery to get properly cleaned. And then there's the main issue - in LESS than 2 years the cutlery basket has cracked, and before the 3 year mark the bottom dropped out of the main 2 areas of the basket, leaving only little spots to put all my cutlery, which means handwashing most nights - and I bought a dishwasher to wash this stuff for me! I approached LG about it, they asked for pics, and then ignored me. Didn't even bother to respond, or even advise me where I could purchase a new basket. I have nearly everything LG in my house, but I can assure you, from this lack of decency in service, I will NOT buy any more LG ever again.

It has all the bells and whistles but at its core, it is cheaply designed and built. Firstly the steam is a big problem, it degrades the dishwasher seals and plastic which will cause internal leaks, leading to error codes. LG spare part that has done exact same as first in less than 1yr so now need to buy another as knives fall though and stop the lower rotator from spinning. For reference the basket in my first LG dishwasher last the entire life of the machine. The touch panel on the front bugs out all the time and starts flashing and beeping and have to turn off power at wall to reset. And the machine makes horrid thumping noises during a certain part of the cycle. Apart from that it seemed on par with my first one for how it cleans dishes and how loud it runs, except when thumping noise is happens and when a knife pokes through the bottom of basket and jams the spray bar. Would have thought newer model would have been improved but has gone way backwards. I'd take the old model with proper buttons and and basket thats not made of recycled plastic bags any day. No more LG In My Home. Bring back the old model this is junk.

my "clean" dishes. This gunk is incredibly difficult to remove and even stains your skin when you touch the racks. I took this to the tribunal (ACL claim), but LG successfully fought it by producing a generic service report claiming "harsh chemicals" caused the damage. This is a complete deflection of responsibility for a clear manufacturing defect. The proof that their "chemical" excuse is nonsense is on the outside of the machine. The "Start" button on the control panel has bubbled and peeled away completely. Unless dishwashing tablets are now airborne and attacking the exterior of the unit, this is undeniably a failure of poor-quality materials. Bing Lee and LG have left me with a machine that is unsanitary and falling apart. If you value your health and your money, stay away from LG dishwashers. They would rather spend effort on legal loopholes than building a product that lasts. Pros: None. Cons: Leaves black residue on plates, control panel peels off, terrible manufacturer support.

Unit failed at 2.5 years using one wash a day. AE error, which is a known error for this machine. Water leak internally, but we cannot see water anywhere except in the base of machine? So machine will not run, just drain pumps and hums continuously.… Read more

We are on our 3rd cutlery basket, the bottom falls out as knives put a hole in the base after 12 months. These are not warranty items and is a known failure here also see other reviews. This machine is still sold today yet the basket is a known issue. The repair which technician is confident to fix the leak is $450 to install and replace the solenoid valve, which is a $45 part, but it was diagnose then 2nd visit needed now part is ordered. Removing machine covers not easy in our tight kitchen. Technician thinks solenoid will fix the machine. Machine must be pulled out of cabinet, which is very difficult. Next time it fails we will buy a cheap Westinghouse for $600, we have one in our 2nd house and it has been rock solid for 8 years running daily. We have tried various dishwashers over the years, Bosch, Smeg and all get faults at about 3 years in our experience. With this LG the glasses are not always clean, powder mild streaks, and yes we use rinse aid and branded tablets. We have soft water. Look up reviews elsewhere for this machine, poor. Warranty is 2 years. I did look at Hisense with a 3 year warranty but it also has poor reviews. Westinghouse from now on. Expensive is not better, and technician said he does not have many calls on Westinghouse. We paid about $1000 for this machine 2.5 years ago. The App is not really any good as it does nothing to be honest. You cannot control the machine from the app. LG has been a very frustrating experience. Expensive definately not better in our experience with dishwashers, most seem to fail at 3 years, so from now on a brand for us, that is cheap, then we can throw it away if it fails out of warranty, as the service call and parts cost is huge.

Follow-up  · Bought a Westinghouse. $900 with a 5 year warranty. The repair final quote was $610 for the LG. It is not worth it. The 10 year LG motor warranty tries to give you false confidence. Now I insist on the 5 year warranty parts and Labour and only Westinghouse dishwashers give me that. LG dishwasher never again.

internals of the machine. Most of the cycle is very quiet, the noisiest times are when water is emptying into the drain under the sink.

The Quadwash with two drawers and a cutlery basket is excellent for lightly soiled full loads. The capacity is better than the old 14 place unit once you get used to how to optimise loading. We mainly use the 38 min cycle, obtained by holding the turbo selector for about 3 seconds and turning off the extra dry. This cycle is economical with electricity and water. Everything comes out sparkling clean and mostly dry. The machine remembers your selection for next time. If using the 38 minute cycle it is best to use powder not tablets as the tablets can leave a residue on the crockery. This is expained in the manual. We are using Shine powder and rinse aid with excellent results. For more intense washing we use the turbo 59 min cycle with no extra dry for which tablets are desirable for extra cleaning. This cycle uses significantly more water and a bit more power.

Both cycles wash dishes very well and dry reasonably well. We put a tea towel above the machine and empty like items onto it before placing them into cupboards or drawers. As recommended in the manual the bottom basket should be emptied first. Mugs need to be placed bottom down to absorb water which is still welled on some of the mugs. The cutlery basket can be emptied by tipping out the contents but it is advisable to hold the flaps down against the basket to stop the cutlery tangling should the flaps fall open. We have removed the folding glass stem shelves and added a shortened folding shelf from the old washer which can support and separate sharp knives as there was no really good spot for them. This would be a good accessory for LG to supply with the machine.

The dishwasher was easy to instal after the hole in the back of the cupboard was made larger to acco modate the water inlet hose. The filter is easy to check and when necessary, clean.

We load the top tray starting from the front as too much of the weight at the back makes it harder to smoothly push the drawer back all the way over the water inlet, unless a small downward pressure is used on the front of the basket while closing.

Hopefully it is reliable for a long time.

Follow-up  · We are still extremely happy with the 2 year old dishwasher. The performance and reliability have been flawless. We exclusively use the Express wash with no extra dry. The stated electrical consumption is 0.61kWh. Water consumption is 12.4L per load which is a bit higher than the Eco Cycle at 9.9L. If the time doesn't default to 38 minutes we know we need to top up the rinse aid.

Consumer warning: I replaced a 25-year-old Dishlex dishwasher with a new LG model, and it has been a clear downgrade in real-world use. Installation and delivery were flawless, and the unit is quiet. them before loading, and in some cases scrub them again after the cycle. That defeats the entire purpose of a dishwasher — so much for water saving. In practice, I am using more water overall trying to get dishes clean than I did with my old unit. The efficiency claims do not match real-world results. Drying is also inconsistent, with items frequently coming out wet even on hotter cycles. The interior space feels reduced and less practical than older designs, and the lack of an interior light makes loading and unloading more awkward. I should have considered a higher-end machine, but I assumed that after 25 years even a basic modern dishwasher would do a thorough job. At this point, it feels like I may as well go back to washing by hand. Overall, this feels like a step backwards in core functionality. Buyers should be aware that newer does not necessarily mean better in everyday use.

unusable. We provided multiple videos (even the technician sent one). LG dismissed the issue with ridiculous excuses like “we used two fingers to push the tray.”

Nearly a year later, and according to LG and The Good Guys (Mile End), there is suddenly “no fault found.” LG now wants another video, while this model has conveniently been discontinued. The Good Guys offer nothing except delays, finger-pointing, and yet another pointless service call. Under Australian Consumer Law, a product must be fit for purpose. A dishwasher that can’t slide a tray without jamming is not fit for purpose — full stop.

This experience has destroyed our trust. We will never purchase from LG or The Good Guys again — and recommend others don’t either.
