Logitech MX Ergo Wireless Trackball Mouse

Great product but not completely ergonomic – Overall it is a great device with great functionality, but the ergonomics are lacking. Beware that your arm will still be pronated using this trackball and so you may continue to have, or develop pain associated with "mouse arm". I'd never used a trackball before, but this was quite an intuitive change. The functionality of the product is great, and with the companion software you can customise a number of the buttons, etcetera. It comes with a USB dongle, but also connects via Bluetooth.

You can switch between two connected devices on the fly with the push of a button, and even copy and paste between them using the trackball as a small storage clipboard. Using the companion software is not essential to have it working, which is good.

I am a contractor and one client requires I use a computer they provide. So I use the trackball on both my personal computer and that client's provided computer. The client's IT department doesn't allow the companion software to be used, so I can't copy between devices and can't customoise the buttons etcetera, but the device works perfectly as a trackball mouse without the software, so it is not a significant issue.

It uses a rechargeable battery and just plugs into a micro USB cable. If needed you can use the device whilst plugged in, but if you find it has gone flat, just plug it in and take a 5min stretch or coffee break and it will have enough charge to last the day. Fully charged it says it can last a month or so, and for me, I have had it around 3.5 months or so now, and have fully charged it perhaps twice, and it has only run flat once on me so far.

Ergonomics: The ergonomics of the device are good, but could be much better. It uses a magnetic plate to adjust the angle of the device, and has 2 adjustments, flat or 32 degrees or so. It is good for the wrist and the twinges of RSI in the wrist I had are gone. I have found that prolonged use causes me pain in the forearm and tricep and even up into the muscle attachments from shoulder to neck. The issue I am finding is that that even with the trackball at the 32 degree adjustment, my mouse arm remains pronated. This means so-called "mouse arm" is still a thing. I am in the process of attaching it to a heavy block so I can tilt the trackball to around 75 or 80 degrees or so to have a more neutral 'handshake' position for my arm, but ideally the device should have that out of the box.

In case it is not apparent, the device can only be used in the right hand, there is no option to use it in the left hand.

Overall it is a great device with great functionality, but beware that your arm will still be pronated using this trackball and so you may continue to have, or develop pain associated with "mouse arm", which given this is marketed as an "ergonomic" device is quite a significant issue. If it wasn't marketed as "ergo" I would probably give this product 4 stars given the overall functionality with the ergonomic downside, but as it is branded as named as "ergo" I think the ergonomic issue is more significant given people a very likely buying it to address ergonomic issues, which was a major part of my decision to buy it as well.
