I also purchased this product to use with my first child just over a year ago, it seemed to work as advertised, and then suddenly stopped working approx 10 days ago, found out that it was no longer supported and a vast majority of the features that were available were no longer. older one was no longer in warranty, (sensor no longer working and despite bub less than 18 months old weighing less than the weight advertised and stamped on the sock) and had been superseded by the dream sock. Was advised to purchase the upgraded dream sock. It's rather convenient this stops working annually when a new sock or rebranded sock is introduced. Beware you cannot buy or get replaced any socks or sensors. This is an expensive purchase and should not stop working so quickly. Worse still, is the smart sock was still being sold for this price in 2025 despite being superseded by the dream sock. I’m pissed off. I'll be taking this to consumer affairs in Victoria, Australia.

I purchased the Owlet Smart Sock 3 from Baby Gallery before my son was born, expecting a premium product that would provide reassurance during his first year of life. Instead, I received a product that never functioned. The base station was faulty from the day it was purchased, meaning I was never able to use the device at all. Baby Gallery sold… Read more

me a faulty product and has refused to provide a refund, despite my rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Instead of resolving the matter promptly, I have spent months trying to obtain an appropriate remedy.

It took several months for Owlet to acknowledge in writing that the base station was faulty. During that time, I was required to repeatedly troubleshoot the device, provide multiple photographs and screenshots, and ultimately record and submit a video demonstrating the fault. Despite Owlet confirming that the base station is defective, they have continued to push for a replacement base station rather than respecting my request for a refund.

At this point, I have absolutely no confidence in this product. My son turns one next month, and I have been deprived of the opportunity to use the device during the very period it was purchased for. A replacement now is of little value when the product has been unusable throughout my son’s infancy.

This has been an unnecessarily lengthy and frustrating process for what should have been a straightforward consumer guarantee claim. In my experience, both the quality of the product and the handling of this matter by Baby Village and Owlet have fallen well below what I would expect from companies selling a premium infant safety product.

I cannot recommend the Owlet Smart Sock 3 or purchasing it through Baby Gallery. Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective purchasers to consider alternative products from companies that stand behind their products and comply with their obligations under the Australian Consumer Law.

Customer service is absolutely woeful. I was told to reach out to Owlet's Australian distributor by the direct Owlet company. I was told to speak to Owlet directly by the Australian distributor. The Smart Sock is a great idea and gave us peace of mind, but the sensor simply isn't durable enough. Since purchasing for our first child in 2021, we've… Read more

had to replace multiple sensors across several base stations due to failures.

The biggest issue is that replacement sensors cost around $205 plus postage, and they're no longer even available for the Smart Sock 3—despite the product still being sold in stores.

If Owlet is going to sell a product where the sensor doesn't reliably last the advertised 18 months, replacement sensors should be reasonably priced. Charging over half the cost of a brand-new unit for a replacement sensor is unreasonable. A price closer to $50 would be much fairer for what is clearly a consumable part.

It's disappointing because the product itself has value, but the poor durability, lack of replacement parts, and disappointing customer service make it difficult to recommend.

Base station got extremely hot and expanded, causing a fire hazard. Owlet customer service has been terrible and are refusing the replace the base station Show details

Follow-up  · Yes, I contacted customer service and they refused to replace the base station. The base station overheated to the point where it almost caught fire and is now completely unusable/dangerous. I discovered this because of how hot the base station had started to get and I could see it expanding.

We have been using the Owlet sock for my daughter since she was born and it has been mostly good. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Life-Saving Peace of Mind Our little one was very mucusy in the first few days after birth, and one night the Owlet alerted us that he was choking in his sleep. but in our experience it really comes down to setup. I made sure to connect it to the 2.4GHz network (split my router into 2.4 and 5GHz) and have had no issues. The sock also needs to be fitted snugly — if it’s loose, you’ll get inaccurate readings.

We absolutely love our Owlet and are honestly indebted to it for keeping our little one safe. For us, the peace of mind has been priceless.

The sock and data it records is great, I love how accurate it records and shows the side sleeping etc. However, it’s a complete shame the amount of alerts it gives. wear it around the house during the day because the sock needs to be in the one room with the base. I think they need to have an option like the eufy sock to lower the alert sounds and disable sounds for sock disconnected etc. it would make this so much more user friendly. It is honestly a shame because as I said the sock data itself is actually very good. I am now using the eufy sock which isn’t as great with the data but it works in any room and no false alarms randomly.

Such a waste of money! Sock constantly losses connection with the base, even when baby hasnt moved! Do not buy this sock - waste of money and does not last. We bought the extension pack for $534 to be used up to age 5 and the sensor has died less than 2 years later. Owlet’s solution is for us to pay MORE money and buy a new sensor for a not so small $189. Pathetic. Means we will have to likely replace the sensor twice over to even get to age 5. Complete false advertising, poor quality, does not last as far as I could throw it - a piece of junk Show details

Leaving a 1-star review because I can’t leave 0. This is, without exaggeration, the most disappointing and stressful product I have ever purchased in any category. product.

The device only operates on the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band. Despite dozens of setup attempts, reconnections, and troubleshooting steps, and even when the entire 2.4 GHz network was dedicated solely to this device, it disconnected repeatedly and unpredictably.

This happened even with the sock firmly secured to our baby’s foot, all other electronic devices in the room turned off (including the ceiling fan), and the base station placed approximately 1 metre away.

In an attempt to rule out every possible interference issue, we even placed the base station inside the bassinet, roughly 10 cm from the sock, which remained securely attached. The disconnections still continued.

Customer support has been entirely unhelpful. The only suggestions offered were generic scripts such as “wipe it down,” “make sure the sock is firmly attached,” or “reconnect the Wi-Fi,” all of which had already been tried multiple times.

Instead of providing peace of mind, this product has left us paranoid, angry, and afraid to leave our baby unattended while sleeping. For a device marketed around reassurance and safety, that is a catastrophic failure.

At this price point, a product like this should be rock solid. Ours has been anything but. It feels irresponsible that something so unreliable is sold to parents seeking reassurance during an already stressful time.

We regret this purchase completely and would strongly caution other parents to think very carefully before trusting this product.

The owlet base station was constantly disconnecting from the wifi, leaving us with no indication of our babies vitals. guidance on how to improve the connection, which involved complex instructions on messing with my router settings. That decreased the frequency of the issue, but did not fully resolve it. The owlet sock also frequently disconnects from the base station. This does cause an alarm and it happens multiple times a night. The base station is in the same room as the bassinet, about 2 metres away with a clear line of site, so there's no reason this should be happening. We ended up getting a movement sensor pad from a different brand. That pad has now gone off twice, saving our baby both times. The owlet is extremely unreliable. Do not trust it with your babies life.

The owlet may very well have saved our baby's life – The owlet may very well have saved our baby's life or prevented serious harm. We've been using it from when she was born, and she's 13 months now. We've had some false alarms, which happen a lot less so it seems it's become better at not going off just because of squirming around. In all that time there were only ever two real alarms, both when… Read more ·  1

she was 3 months old, within days of each other not long after being exposed to a nasty virus.

The first her oxygenation dropped below 70% and the alarm woke us so we could wake her and make sure she was breathing ok.

The second incident a couple nights later, the alarm went off because she stopped breathing, and oxygenation suddenly dropped well below 70%. We woke to the alarm and woke her up. Once woken she stabilized and we kept a close eye on her the rest of the night. She's never had another incident like that.

We have read that babies sometimes stop breathing for a time, and we've seen that, but those short spans aren't enough to have much impact on oxygenation, so these two incidents were something else.

We'll never know if it was a serious incident or not because we were alerted the moment her oxygen levels were dangerously low. Without the owlet, with us both asleep, we may have otherwise been facing permanent brain damage or worse.

So for all those false alarms and difficulty putting it on initially, we are still ever grateful we got the owlet, and we'll use it for as long as it still fits her.

I'd say if you have any hesitations or reasons to be more wary, this is a must have. We lost our first baby girl at birth due to failings of the London hospital services, and failure to properly monitor her deteriorating state and oxygen deprivation were the primary contributing factos. This second time around we did everything in our power to ensure our baby girl was safely brought into the world and to keep a close eye on her during those more vulnerable early months. We're so glad we found Owlet.

Honestly without the owlet I would not have known about her fever and sky rocketing heart rate and shudder to think how things could have turned out if i didn't get the alert. Probably saved her life. There have been no false alarms other than it falling off once. I am not sure why the rest of the reviews are so hung up on the app the sock works regardless if it's connected to wifi or not, the app is only if you want to see live readings. We've had our internet bomb out a few times but when it comes back the app has "caught up" on the readings history and you can clearly see it was still working at the time. It works on Bluetooth and the base only needs to be plugged in for it to work! This means I can take it to family or friends or on holiday etc and still know it is working when i put her to sleep. I don't bother with the app much at all sometimes I don't even open it for days.
