Amazing line! – I have now caught all of my metre plus Jewfish using line rated between 20 and 40 lbs. The reliability of this line is second to none! Great Knott reliability and abrasion resistance. The best mono..BUT – I have a love hate relationship with this line. Its one of the best mono lines for handling and low memory however I find if there's been the slightest stress in the line it will often break or come undone when tying knots..the 4.5kg was really bad..thicker seems a bit better but the knot issues I have with this line doesn't happen with other brands.  Show details

Strong and thin mono – This is a great line for its thickness. Easy to carry, and seems to resist abrasion. If there was a flouro colour to make the line more visible at night, I would use it exclusively. Will, no such luck. However, it is still my go - to mono for general use.

Lost fish – Last fishing trip got some new 50 kg braid but tieing new braid to new braid the knots where holding but the braid keeped on snapping 2inchs before knot never had this problem before. Don't know if the product different but I have always used platapus braid very disappointed at time could of lost the big.

Best Mono line and Australian Made – I have used Platypus line for over 30 years. Their Platinum range (I use the 40lb) is the best line for bringing in the big fish. Knots hold fast and not cut into itself and the abrasion resistance makes me think the line is coated with Teflon! Yes the line stretches as it is designed to absorb shock correctly and return to its previous non-stretch status. If you are after sardines, this is NOT the line for you. Platypus make other line like their "lo stretch" series for experienced anglers only. Fish friendly Circle hooks are simply LETHAL with Platinum line and highly recommended with the elastic properties of this line.

Platinum isn't excessive in the lighter weights I've used. These being the 8lb, 12lb, and 15lb breaking strains. I have used these Platypus Platinum in both saltwater and freshwater applications with pleasing results.

The really measure for me of line quality is knot strength and abrasion resistance. Some cheap lines feel really tough when you yank on a length but will cut itself like a knife though butter when a knot is tied. In regards to knot strength Platypus Platinum scores well with little loss of strength using uni-knots to attach the line to either terminal tackle or to other weight lines.

The colour is light blue and is attractive on the spool. For its underwater visabiltiy you'll have to ask the fish. Good quality, uniform, suppple and strong with excellent knot strength Nothing really to report.

Excellent – Platypus lines are well known for their quality and platinum line is something that you can trust to use. OK – Not a bad fishing line to use as a leader. I would use it as a main line for fish under 8kg. When it is on special - stock up! I like the clear colour it comes in. The stretch factor. It stretches too much to use it as a main line in bigger rigs (more than 15kg). It's price is too much because it is marketed as "platinum". They thnk they can charge more cos of what it is called I think.

Good – I have tried many fishing lines over the past 40 years and this has to be one of the best. It's a little more expensive but then you only get what you pay for. This line is very soft but has a high knot strength as long as it's moistened before tightening the knot. It dosent coil or kink after a long time tighly wound on the spool. None coiling soft and flexible
