Exactly the right bike for gravel roads – I bought my Smart Motion E-bike in May this year and my husband soon decided he had to have one too. Both of us were pretty unfit and I was recovering from chemotherapy but since having these we look forward to our “epic adventure day” where we do an all day ride somewhere. Our longest was from Atherton to Mareeba - 60km round trip. I cannot believe that I am able to do something that huge! I find that I am making trips on the bike almost everyday including some errands that I used to use the car for. Riding an e-bike is pure joy but you are still getting exercise. We live on the Tablelands in Far North Queensland where there are a lot of mountains, dirt roads and the famous rail trail and mountain bike trails. This is the perfect bike for the full length of the rail trail where you need fat tyres and some off road capability. Never had a tyre puncture yet and it surprises me given how poor the trail is near Rocky Creek. Would not recommend this bike for serious mountain bike tracks - my husband has done some of the easier trails no problem but it is a hybrid bike not a full-on mountain bike. We are planning multi-day tours staying at B&Bs where we can charge up each night. Absolutely perfect for this. If you keep your battery assist to levels one with occasional two - we have found that both bikes will comfortably do 60km on rough roads with some elevation (Atherton rail trail 60km return trip twice). In fact we still had quite a bit of battery left. However, the moment you put your assist on five - that battery drops so fast that you can lose it in ten minutes completely - use five for that final burst when you are almost home!
