They changed their age bracket to exclude my age after ticket purchasing without sending any communication. Discovered the age bracket change at the venue when checking in. When I disputed it to the man in charge, he was very impatient by urging me to check in first and contact them later. However, there was no way to find the man again shortly… Read more

after the event ended. Emailed them a week later to explain the situation and try to reach a solution. No response at all. Followed up two weeks later. Still no response at all. Reported them to consumer affairs with evidence - the age bracket on my ticket and the age bracket on photo copy of their website.

The experience itself was underwhelming. The man in charge made no announcement or explanations. Many people around didn’t know if the event was formally started or not. Also, they had the whole floor booked with at least 40+ table numbers (didn’t check all tables so could easily be much more than that), where participants rotated across table 1-18, 2-19, etc. Hence it was very very loud and kinda chaotic.

Not recommended.

These guys are unethical, scammers is probably a better word. I RSVP’d through Meetup, paid for a ticket through Ticket Tailor for 7 June 2025. About 1.5 hours before the event was due to start I received notification from them through their Meetup Event that the time had changed from 5-7pm to 7-9pm and that the venue had changed from Noble Hops… Read more

in Redfern to the Pumphouse in Darling Harbour. I contacted the organiser Darcy and the two hosts, to request a refund as I was unable to attend at the new time and venue. No response from any of them. A few minutes after the whole event was cancelled and deleted from the Meetup Page and my RSVP was rescheduled to 18 July 2025. I received a response from Darcy refusing to refund. Darcy said that the event went ahead at the original time and venue. The notifications sent through Meetup were fake and purely sent to deter more people from signing up as the event was full. Darcy seems to think that it is my fault that I believed the notifications and didn’t attend the event. He claims I was a no show so I won’t get a refund. I’m wondering how many other have been scammed by this guy. Such a shame that Meetup and Ticket Tailor and the event venues do business with operators like this.

Shocking ! The caliber of dates was pretty sub par however that’s not their fault. What WAS there fault was the following : Event time different than advertised and changed last minute (I made it but my friend and others couldn’t) Complete mess and disorganised Emails not replied to Recent events showing misinformation again re dates and times (eg X date on first page, click on it and then another date ) so very confusing

Zero out of 5 stars. An absolute mess of a night. The hosts had no control over the event. Check in was on paper and a huge queue on arrival. They were still checking people in 40 mins late. Noone knew when we had actually started, then staff walked around and hoped they were loudly enough telling people to move. The event wasn't explained. Noone… Read more

knew where they were supposed to move to next. I met 5 guys and people just started leaving because the event was so badly organised. I requested a refund due to the fact they hadn't supplied their advertised services. They failed on many counts. The owner said to refer to the refund policy which said no refunds ever. He actually thinks his refund policy has priority over the law. He also tried to gain empathy from me because he had hosts sick and made out he was such a great guy for coming up with some hosts so the event could still go ahead. As stated above the event didn't actually go ahead. Customers turned up, but it definitely wasn't a speed dating event.

I have not heard anything further about the refund, so made an official complaint to NSW Fair Trading. During this process I could find no legal entity for this business. I sure hope one exists, since the owner will be in some big trouble.

BEWARE of money sucking poor events company – Should have read the reviews before being booking. They have no phone number and respond to email after 1 week. The day prior to the event, my grandfather passed away and I had to travel to him as he is in a different country. I messaged / emailed them to ask if I could do another date in the future due to circumstances, even sharing funeral… Read more

notice. I understood refund would not be possible. These scams have no empathy and could not even change the date for me. As you can see their events never run equally men / female ratio and they blame me for not attending due to an unfortunate emergency. Do yourself a favour and book else where where they actually care about you.

Don’t bother. Better companies out there – Tried to email my grievance but they do not respond. Great turn out of people… but I got stuck with 5 men in a row who were well into their 60s…. In a row!!! They were clearly over the age of 47 well and truely. I get people will lie about their age…. You could at least spread them out so that it’s fair. I paid for 12 dates and half of them were… Read more

over the age limit… so this is not worth the money. Won’t do it again… maybe I would have if they bothers to respond to my email… but they are obviously just out to make money.

You have to try it once! – A very fun experience! Will going again given the opportunity! My first time and came away wanting more. Darcy who organised the event was extraordinarily attentive, upbeat and kept the show moving (thanks Darcy!) The venue and location was good and every single person I met both men and women were open, excited and chatty. 5 stars from me. Did… Read more

I find anyone I liked? Yes I did, were they right for me right now? No but that’s ok… you’re not going to score 10/10 in anything on the first try. The experience was great!

A Positive Experience – Great Host(Darcy) and assistants. They were very well organised and I felt completely comfortable and it is a much safer alternative to the bars or clubs. We are forced to mix which is much easier for me! Will be back for sure some time in the new year given the fact that I have to travel a fair bit which is worth it even though I did not get any… Read more

Thanks so much Darcy and to your assistants. Keep up the Great work. Both are very approachable.

Well organised – I had great experience with this company. They are well organised from start to finish and you get to talk to at least 10 ladies. At 8am sharp the next day I got my matches too which is awesome.

Shambolic and archaic organisation – Waited half an hour to be checked in (on paper!). Wasn’t told when it began. Time badly managed. Music was pumped by venue when halfway through to level making conversation impossible. Shambolic!

Speed dating social – Went to the speed dating event at crows nest hotel. Have to say it was badly run with limited directions from organisers. More men than women as some ladies didn't turn up. Would not recommend this organisation.

Terrible customer service – Terrible company, asked to reschedule to different date not even ask for a refund, just gave excuses I don't know how they function as a company when they don't bother finding a resolution to a simple request. Don't bother using them and they don't give refunds anyway.

Terribly organised and terrible show out – Firstly it was at a tiny dingy bar that had almost no drink options, secondly it was so poorly organised the men kept getting re-directed and missing tables etc. Lastly, the crowd of men were extremely disappointing.

Good but needs stricter rules especially with no shows – I went to the Sydney 30-42 event in October. Good it was in smaller numbers and shorter age group. After being unimpressed with another emerging company, I tried this event for a change. Convenient Location (Hustle and Flow bar). Slightly better-quality guests with this one. Good price. However, there were a number of no shows which did affect… Read more

the host arrangement of guests and gets chaotic. Rules need to be set for no shows and cancellations going forward so it's fair on the hosts and guests too. Also include that information when tickets become available for these events going forward.

Disorganised and suspicious. Possibly a [Content Removed] – They go by the name of Speed Dating Brisbane, Social Speed Dating in Australia in their website, then changes to Speed Dating Social in eventbrite. Their email was originally melbournesocialsevents@gmail.com, which now looks like belongs to someone called "[Name Removed]". the review in google, and then realised they did not even have an actual google business site to leave a review on!).

I attended their likely first event in Brisbane on 28/6. The event was a bit if a mess. My main complaint is that for some reason the host did not allocate me my date with a lady tonight! This was not a matched event, and we were meant to just rotate around meeting all the women that night. I have attended speed dates before with uneven numbers, and was happy to sit out on rounds where someone did not attend, but not getting an allocated date for a lady who was present is not what I paid for and also unusual! His reasoning made no sense. He then asked me to approach her after the event finishes, while she continued to talk with the last guy! While that is “a” solution, what did I pay you guys for then if I am organising my own dates? Just seemed like a very inexperience host who messed up the allocations.

All in all a very negative experience, and it is a massive red flag when a business runs under multiple different names and boasts fake reviews on their website!
