For years we'd used those cheap little steak knives you see around discount stores which do the job okay, but definitely have limitations. Eventually it was time to upgrade to something ergonomically comfortable, practical, dishwasher suitable, sharp, and wouldn't look out of place with guests over... After quite some time looking, I settled on the STANLEY ROGERS IMPERIAL Steak knives. Bought two sets of 6. That was July 2021 And we got them on sale for $38 a set from Peters of Kensington. Super bargain! These knives are fabulous. Nicely weighted, and a shape that naturally fits the hand. Skinny handles are not ideal. Whereas these are wider, but hollow, so they the fit the hand well, but they aren't too heavy. 25 year guarantee. And YES, they are sharp. We wash them in the dishwasher. Like all SS cutlery, occasionally you'll get a brown spot stain from the dishwasher. Just handwash it off. These still look great after regular use for 5 years. In July 2026, I decided to buy another set, again on sale (albeit now $50 at Harris Scarfe), for when we have larger groups of people. These are DEFINITLEY the best steak knives anyone in our extended families own. The photos are two knives purchased in 2021 (one used more than the other), alongside a new one purchased July 2026. The new knife has the protective tip on it, for identification.
Purchased in at Peter's of Kensington Online store for $38.
Dont waste your money on these steak knives – Purchased these late last year and decided to use 2 steak knives from the set recently. They leave your fingers with black/greyish stains after use, even after hand washing or cleaning in the dishwasher. The box states they are stainless steel as well make on the serated knife section has scractched however the handle does not appear to be stainless steel and has marked easily. The can leave your teatowel discoloured and even when you think you have washed and dried these properly they shows stains the following day. Very disappointing. Previously had a good set of Stanley Rogers cutlery set which worked well for over 30 years and decided to update the steak knives. Absolute waste of money. Purchased on sale.
Purchased in at Myer Online Store for $49.

Reasonable quality but still lightly rust on surface when washed in dishwasher – I bought 4x six piece sets on Catch of the Day, thinking they'd make excellent Christmas gifts as well as keeping a set ourselves. We've previously bought a set of the pistol grip knives (also stainless steel) and found those excellent quality. These sadly are not as good and washing in the dishwasher results in slight surface rust appearing. I've only used my set a few times and need to clean the rust off the surface with Jif or similar light abrasive cleaner....not really impressed as the packaging tells me what high quality stainless steel this is and that it is designed in Germany (a closer look tells me it's made in China).
