I’ve been using the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Day & Night machine for 6 months, and while it worked well at first, it has recently started dispensing 20 ml LESS water than it should. I’ve gone through all their requested troubleshooting steps, taken video evidence, and measured using a precise measuring jug — NOT a bottle, as their tolerance… Read more
only applies to bottle markings. According to their own official terms, the machine itself has a tolerance of +/-5%; mine is dispensing well beyond that range, making it faulty.
Their customer service has been disappointing. Instead of honoring their manufacturer warranty, they’ve tried to deflect responsibility by claiming a combined 10% tolerance (5% for the machine, 5% for the bottle), which contradicts their official documentation because I provided them with a video of the pour done with a measuring cup. They also kept telling me that it was safe to use that measurement of water to feed my baby. (Highly concerning to suggest I give my baby 20ml less water with their formula). The reality is that this is a machine fault, and as a consumer, I am entitled to a replacement or repair.
For a machine this expensive and vital for making safe feeds for an infant, I expected far better quality and customer support. I’m very disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this product until Tommee Tippee improves both its reliability and its warranty service.
Helpful for First-Time Moms! This product has truly made our lives easier, especially when it comes to preparing milk for my baby. It makes it so much more convenient to have warm, sterilized water ready for her feeds. My baby prefers freshly prepared warm milk and doesn’t like it cold, so this has been a game changer for us. One thing to note… Read more
is that during hot weather, the machine sometimes shows a “temperature too high” warning. To work around this, I keep it in a room with controlled temperature and use some ice to cool it down when needed.
The smallest water measurement it allows is 120ml, which was a bit too much when my baby was only a month old and drinking less than that. I had to fill the 120ml and pour out the excess to keep the right temperature.
The machine does make a sound during milk preparation, but it’s not very loud, so it doesn’t bother us.
I do wish the water container was larger—I find myself refilling it quite often.
Overall, this product has been a big help for me as a first-time mom who struggled with boiling water and storing milk, which my baby didn’t like. Definitely worth it!
Don’t waste your money. Does not work when you need it to. As others have said, it relies on the temperature around it to be incredibly cold and not the slightest bit warm. I live in qld and have not been able to use it, I’ve put it in a room that’s constantly on 20 degrees and even with ice cold water in it the temp is still too high. Useless product. Show details
Unreliable, terrible design – Unreliable. Machine is okay, WHEN it works. - Won't work if ambient temperature is over 30 degrees. Basically useless in the summer time. Was too hot during spring also. There goes 6 months without being able to use the machine. "Tank temp too high" is the error. - Made from cheap plastic unlike some of their other products. First one arrived… Read more
broken in multiple places.
- Forget using it for newborn feeds. It doesn't make bottles below 120ml
Our daughter was born in winter. We didn't get full functionality due to minimum bottles being 120ml. Having to mess around and pour water out to make a bottle was frustrating. Moving into spring, it was too hot and the machine won't work. Putting cold water from the fridge leaves us waiting a few minutes before we can use it. What's the point? Easy, turned complicated. We've just hit summer and even with cold water from the fridge, it doesn't work.
Waste of money, find another brand.
Negative, poor customer service – I purchased the Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Machine only to find out it cannot prepare bottles smaller than 120ml. Nowhere on the manual was this clearly stated, which is incredibly misleading. When I reached out to customer service for help, I was directed to an obscure FAQ page where this information was buried. They refused to offer a refund… Read more
despite the lack of transparency. Overall, a terrible experience. Save yourself the frustration and avoid buying from this company.
Makes life so much easier – I was hesitant to purchase this initially as I was wondering whether it would be superfluous. I was wrong and I love how convenient it makes preparing feeds for my son. The machine is easy to use and maintain. It's convenient not having to boil and cool water for bottles, you simply pop the bottle on the stand, select the size and it makes the… Read more
perfect temperature bottle every time.
I really like the soft glow of the light, just enough to see what you're doing at night, and stays on long enough too.
My only qualm is it doesn't make bottles any less than 120mL. And I wish I had purchased black instead of white, but that's simply personal preference.
Worst product ever, manufacturers defects – Worst product ever. Machine was broken out of factor Also bought the TT portable. Which broke after 1x weeks usage Worst brand reliability ever Customer service was DISGUSTING, DAN from TT banned me on Insta because I left honest reviews on their socials, THEY HATE NEGATIVE HONEST FEEDBACK, WHICH QUESTIONS THEIR BRAND EVEN MORE Have escalated COMPLAINTS with TT UK parent company DO NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR PRODUCTS Show details
Wouldn’t waste my money – It’s great… until it high temps for no reason for almost an hour. Even put pure cold water in the tank & still didn’t work. Do not waste of your money on this garbage
Absolutely useless 90% of the time – I was so excited to have this machine but it’s been the biggest waste of money. 1. It doesn’t dispense a small enough amount for newborns so you have to either make a larger bottle and put the other half in the fridge to heat up at the next feed or tip half the water out before adding the formula. 2. The water amount options are pathetic. Unless… Read more
you happen to have a baby that agrees with a formula that matches up with the options on this machine you’re still tipping water out, for as long as your making bottles.
3. Even if the machine and formula do have the same amount of mls it either dispenses to much or not enough. I wonder how many babies are left dehydrated or on the verge of water toxicity because people trust this machine and add formula 1st and didn’t notice the mls were off?
4. Now I’ve been putting up with all these other things trying to make do with this machine but I live in Australia and today got upto 36 degrees celcius. The machine wouldn’t work because the cold tap water is too hot ( above 25 degrees). Are you kidding me? It’s not even summer yet. Am I seriously supposed to now keep the water in the fridge (or play temperature chicken with melting ice cubes), pour it into the machine at each feed and expect my baby to wait until it’s filtered through the cold water to turn it into warm water that I then need to pour some out of before adding the formula?
If you’re thinking about buying this machine and don’t live tommee tippee’s dream world save yourself the frustration and just boil the kettle.

An Easier way – With our first child we used tommee tippee perfect prep as I was away on a ship often. To make life easier on home front. As for reliability it kept over heating and having a thermal cut out, which made things harder. Then with 2nd child plug it in then it had over temp warning I could smell burning plastic and game over. To our discovery it's… Read more
way quicker to use a microwave, same amount of steps but way quicker 13sec heat time 100ml, 150ml (17sec), 200ml (21 sec). Different results microwave depending. Way quicker than the perfect prep. Also microwave helps to kill any bacteria or viruses. So if you already have a microwave you can save money and time.
Not good for a newborn – Although a great idea, they need to change the settings. As noted from another review, the minimum settings is 120ml, which is too high for a new born, so you have to cancel the water dispenser when it reaches the required volume, then the ratio of hot water to cold water isn't correct. Terrible product and terrible customer service! – Tommee tippee had a great reputation for outstanding customer service, now because they’re big they only care about one thing ($). My perfect prep machine randomly stopped working after 12 months of light use, the machine wouldn’t switch on. I contacted the company and they said “because the machine is out of warranty by 1 month, you will need to… Read more
contact your local electrician or engineer to get it fixed!” How DISGUSTING and rude. My breast pump broke down in 2020 and even though it was out of warranty they still replaced it. I will never shop with tommee tippee again, you have just lost yourself a valuable / loyal customer.
Absolute lifesaver – It's easy to use, easy to clean. Decanter it regularly and you'll never have an issue. I put formula in after the hot shot is done because I find it goes clumpy if I don't but other than that I've got no complaints about this machine. I paid $30 for mine second hand and just bought a new filter for it because they are expensive to buy brand new.… Read more
My friend liked it so much that I purchased one for her also second hand for $50, they are absolutely genius.
Find out how Tommee Tippee Perfect Prep Day & Night White compares to other Bottle Warmers & Sterilisers
Know better, choose better.
Hot Shot Sprays – When the machine dispenses the hot shot, it sprays the hot water, which some times sprays out side the bottle and onto your hands. Also, the minimum settings is 120ml, which is too high for a new born, so you have to cancel the water dispenser when it reaches the required volume, then the ratio of hot water to cold water isn't correct. They refuse to replace a faulty products under warranty – I have the perfect prep day & night , been using it for around 6months (since June 2021) now it stops working and keeps flashing red light with sign “tank temp high”. At first I thought because of the hot weather effected the machine, but it even happened at night time with room’s temperature 18degrees so I emailed them to ask their advice and… Read more
hopefully they will cover under warranty as it had been a week I couldn’t use it . The purpose of the machine is make my parenting life is easier when there is no support from anyone, so I do rely on the machine a lot for convenience purpose. But this is [Name Removed] from Tommee Tippee responded:
1) run the tap for at least 10 seconds to make sure it’s nice and cold before adding to the tank - I always filled the tank with chilled cooked water 2) keep the unit out of direct sunlight - in my email I mentioned the room is dark as its nursery room, and the machine nowhere near sunlight. 3)regularly top up with cold tap water rather than letting water stand in the tank - who have the time for that for every single time making a bottle??? So what is the point for me to buy a machine? 4) keep a cold jug of water in the fridge ready to use - again , unreasonable advise , I can filled it cold but it will still get to normal temp during summer . 5)add a few ice cubes into the water hopper. - it’s unhygienic as icecubes are in freezer and freezer are full of raw meats and other things. Bad advice, really!!! And she refuse to replace under warranty and keep saying the machine is safe to use???? It’s not working !!!!! How can I use ? It’s stressful enough to have a young child on my own; spend money to make my life easier but now I am stress dealing with Tommee Tippee’s customer service. I will never buy anything else from Tommee Tippee if this is how they deal with warranty.
The way they wasting my time to avoid the warranty is horrendous. How can the year products manufacturers have anything to do with the warranty of the products since the day I bought it , don’t talk about when I actually start to use it . I can’t believe that’s their policy and how they deal with warranty & customers who support their business
Absolute life saver ! – I have used this twice now, the older previous model that I had was faulty after a deep clean it stopped working and had it replaced with this newer series. It makes the bottle at perfect temperature and it’s super easy to use. So convenient for all formula feeding babies!!
Very noise for night time feeds – Purchased for making bottles at night Pros: - being sleep deprived, its hard enough for parents to get the bottle temperature right and this machine allows you to do that every time - adjustable stand for most bottles on the market - handy LED screen with the steps on them to explain what’s going on - very easy to clean this machine - easy… Read more
replaceable filter which can be purchased at most baby stores or pharmacies. - turns off by itself
Cons: - doesn’t have an options for anything below 120mls (which is what u need for the first 6weeks with a newborn) - 5 steps for the machine to make a bottle ( pressing the button 5 x which at night is very noisy) and feels a little overkill (eg: step 4 “place bottle on stand”) - nosie level at nighttime for the “hot shot” option is really loud. Sounds like a coffee machine.
Overall this is a great machine but I wish it had an option to turn down the noise of the beeping for the steps. Also I understand this is machine that is heating up room temperature water and will make noise regardless but if this can be quieter this machine would be every mother’s dream.
Solved my formula problem – I love this bottle maker so much. My baby is on prescription elemental formula for allergies (Neocate) which is grainy and cannot be mixed with cold water alone as it blocks teats. Previously in the middle of the night I’d have to somehow keep her quiet whilst boiling the kettle and miraculously avoid waking my older child with her cries. Needless… Read more
to say she was woken many times! With the prep machine the neocate mixes perfectly and I can make it without waking the household. I haven’t had a blocked bottle since using it. It felt very unnecessary and extravagant buying this machine but now I couldn’t do without it, it is definitely my favourite baby purchase and I miss it when I am out of the house.
I did read a review at one point stating that it wasn’t suitable for elemental formula. I am not sure what the problem was for that reviewer as I have found it to be wonderful.
Lifesaver for first time mum – I purchased this machine on a whim as there wasnt any Australian reviews and I am so glad I did. I am a first time mum and this machine has eliminated the worry and inconvenience of boiling water. My baby has been formula fed since birth so this machine has truly made our life easier. We started using Tommee Tippee bottles but baby suffered really… Read more
bad colic so we used Dr Brown's, no issues at all with bottle fitting/filling. We have been using the machine for 3 months now and haven't had to change the filter yet but these are about $18 and available at Big W or Baby Bunting. It lights up perfectly in the dark. You also just use tap water to fill up the water tank. The machine is a little noisy but doesn't bother our baby; it sounds just like our Nespresso coffee machine. For perfectly warm sterile water in under 2 minutes, this is a must.
Handy product to have for every parent – Simple to use product as it needs to be especially for when you are holding a screaming hungry baby. It gets the correct water temperature every time and takes the hassle of figuring it out yourself. As well, it provides with filtered water through a specifically designed filter. One filter lasted me around 3.5 months of regular use. Thankly,… Read more
it recognized the Dr Brown bottles that I use.
It only lost a star on the noise level. It's loud enough to wake up a baby and worse when a baby has colic or bad case of wind. Also, the loss of star contributed to high price that Ive paid for a loud machine that only dispense warm filtered water.
