I have 3 indoor cats and have been buying the kitchen/bathroom litter for a few years now, it used to last a lot longer than it does now. I have 4 litter trays and go through 4 bags a week, where when I first started using it I would go through half of that, the odour control is not as good as it was either which is a shame. I clean out the clumps… Read more

every morning and every night, sometimes 3 times a day so the odour should really hold better than it does It would be interesting to know if they have changed the formula. I have started to look at other products.

I recently bought this and I was surprised that the mixture appears to have improved. It's now easier to lift out whereas it used to be like wet cement. The cats haven't tracked it at all. Also smells great. The cats have often chosen it over the tofu litter they grew up with. Show details ·  1

DO NOT RISK UR CATS HEALTH. This product causes vomiting and diahorea in cats. The scent is extremely overwhelming to they're sensitive noses. I purchased this as it was on special for half price. At first I loved the smell and didn't consider the possibility that the cat may not.. or may even try to eat it. My cat was sick within 2 days but I… Read more

didn't think it may be the litter at first so I tried giving different food..his sickness went on for 4 days until I considered it may be the litter. It was. My cat was fine when I bought different stuff.

I have been using vitapet kitchen and bathroom cat litter for over 5 years, my cat prefers its sandy texture and I love the smell absorbing qualities. But recently the quality of the product has changed, I used to purchase a bag every three weeks but lately I need to buy a packet weekly. The Urine is forming massive lumps (absorbing large amounts… Read more

of litter) as opposed to smaller lumps. Have you changed something, maybe the materials used? Not sure if anyone else is having this an issue.

Thought I would change from crystals to this. I mixed a small amount of crystals with this but OMG lasted one cat wee as even though it was in an enclosed litter tray the cat tossed most of it out through the opening so it was everywhere and with the litter being so light I do mean everywhere. Just Dreadful. Immediately back to crystals. Show details

Best I've found so far – This has been my litter of choice for years and I recommend to anyone who will listen. Super easy to scoop, no odour issues, affordable. (A friend used this litter in a shallow 'litter tray' from supermarket and the litter became muddy and made a big goopy mess - so obviously should be used with deeper larger litter boxes. The packet says 4cm… Read more ·  1

but would advise more like 6cm at a minimum).

Some tracking but we have a textured mat at the litter tray entrance, and a weekly vacuum keeps it under control.

The dust is annoying but not a big deal.

HOWEVER recently I've been worried after reading that bentonite clay dust can cause respiratory issues to cats and humans, and that it is sourced via strip mining. The dust isnt as bad in the fresh litter, perhaps that's why I'm supposed to be dumping it and starting fresh every '21 days'.

I'm also dubious about the ingredients being '100% bentonite clay' seeing as it has the lavender scent.

An unscented and dust-free version of this product would be 5 stars from me if I ignore the strip mining thing.

Absolutely Terrible! – Turns into hard muddy clay that sticks to absolutely everything, including your cats feet and therefore the rest of the house. I had to scrap and hose out the litter tray just to get it off. Used twice then chucked the rest in the bin. Show details

Perfect – We've tried so many kitty litters and this is the best by far. Clumps really well, lasts for ages, doesn't smell and we put a shaggy bath mat in front of the litter tray to prevent tracking. A little pricey so we stock up when it's on special. Show details ·  1

Poor odour control – Clumps well but there’s little to no odour control. It seems like all they’ve done is made it scented to mask odour rather than eliminate it. I can still smell the notes of cat crap underneath the lavender smell so all I’m doing is associating crap with lavender. Will never buy again.

The best cat litter by far – The odour control of this product is brilliant, and it clumps really well so it's much easier to scoop out just the dirty bits than with other types. Best to let it dry out and go solid than to try scooping while it's wet and muddy. The only problem is that my cat kicks it EVERYWHERE! I recommend a tray with high sides or an enclosed tray if your cat will tolerate it. Show details ·  1

This product is amazing!! – This product works so well and I would recommend this to any cat owner. The only thing is the bag is not strong enough and rips easy and makes a mess. Show details ·  1

Cat allergic – Unfortunately my Burmese cat was allergic to this litter. I bought it just before going away for a week and my neighbour was looking after my cat. Upon my return Josie had a hay fever type allergy, and had also developed blackheads on her chin. A few days later the blackheads developed into full-on acne. While cleaning up the litter there was… Read more

lots of dust produced. This may have been the issue. On the positive side, it was very absorbent of smells, after a full week of toileting.

No way would this last 21 days – We bought a bag of this as it came recommended to us as being great for odour control plus it said it can last up to 21 days. Within 2 days of getting our kitten, we quickly discovered that this was not the case. We have been scooping out the poo & wee but the smell still permeates the house. We are going to toss it out tomorrow and I would say it’s lucky to cope with 2 to 5 days, let alone 21 days. Will not be using this product again.  Show details

Great product but way too much dust – Clumps well and does not track too much but the large amount of dust lets this product down. Need a mask to clean out tray whilst watching clouds of dust settle over everything. Show details

We will NEVER use this cat litter again! – We have 2 senior fur babies and have tried many different cat litter products over the last 19.5 years we have had them. We decided to try VitaPet last week as our usual product was not available. Not a good decision! Within the first day of use we had the following experiences... 1/ The soiled parts of the litter did "clump" however it turned… Read more

into a clay/mud type substance.

2/ Because of this clay/mud substance, "muddy" foot prints were tracked all through the house and was hard to clean when the prints dried.

3/ The clay/mud sets really hard to the litter tray after a few hours and is quite hard to clean.

4/ The clay/mud sticks to the litter scooper when used and is also hard to clean.

One thing positive about this litter is that the deodorising feature works very well!

Over all not a good experience. For the price you pay, it is not worth the effort you need to maintain it.

Best cat litter 5 stars – Best cat litter and economical. Tried most out there on the market and this is by far the best. Easy to use, just scoop out daily and top up weekly. I have 2 cats so rotate the trays only use 1 bag a week so is very cost saving. Doesn’t stink like other so called premium litters. Noticed this week Woolworths have put price up from $10.50 to almost $12 umm why Show details

Best litter - and I tried a dozen! – This litter is amazing. I used to have a SCOOPFREE automatic litter box when I had just the one cat and that was like awesome - set and forget it for 2.5 weeks. I still have this for when I go away for a couple days. However, when I adopted my second cat the scoopfree tray was needing disposal in just one week and the cost ($25 a tray) was too… Read more

much.

After MONTHS of searching for a great and economical system - I'm talking a dozen litters trialled and tested - I found the semi automatic cat box which I will link below and the Vitapet Kitchen and Laundry litter.

The stuff is incredible. One bag will go a month - maybe 6 weeks - with two cats. No smell. And it works perfectly in the semi automatic sifter box. A full box clean only once every 4-6 weeks. Incredible. So happy with this litter! And only $9-12 a bag! I find less tracking than any litter I have used before! Cats took to it easily and have no issues with it.

Highly recommend this litter and the litter box below (I actually got mine from the reject shop):

Best Kitty Litter I have ever used – For many years I have been on the search for kitty litter that is easy to manage, removes odor, at a reasonable price point and one my cat likes. And after being recommended to try this one I am totally blown away. I used to have the clean out the tray once a week, hose it down, spray deodoriser on it and then refill. out the 'business'off the top and then top up when I have too. I end up only having to do the complete wash up every 6 to 8 months! Love it! They have a laundry version too which has a stronger sent but the kitchen bathroom one does hte job perfectly. Good news is I can get it at Woolies or Coles!
