WEST/HOUSE 155L VERTICAL FREEZE - DONT BUY WESTINGHOUSE 155L Vertical Freezer- NEVER AGAIN. This freezer is truly impressive… if you’re studying how appliances fail. The “built‑in defrost system” apparently translates to “I’ll just switch myself OFF and hope nobody notices.” Inspirational STUFF. And of course, let’s not forget the bonus feature: the freezer has ruined hundreds of dollars’ worth of food that I’ve had to throw out. But don’t worry — apparently that’s not the freezer’s fault, and definitely not Westinghouse’s fault. Just more money out of my pocket.

At this rate, if I multiply the losses by four, I’ve basically paid for this “amazing” freezer all over again. What a bargain.

Harvey Norman kindly handed me the Westinghouse customer service number — straight to a call centre in the Philippines, where spelling my three‑letter name became a full‑length feature film. After the fifth attempt, I realised I’d be narrating my entire autobiography at this pace, so I hung up after asking to speak to her supervisor. "WHY?" she asked. I replied, "I don't intend spelling my whole conversation to you."

Back to Harvey Norman I went, asking for an Australian contact. They tried, bless them, and sent a request through. Then — plot twist — another call from the Philippines. No interest in the model, no interest in the issue, no interest in anything. Just a cheerful “It’s 2 Years out of warranty, so $175 for a technician!” plus repair expense

Of course. Because nothing screams “premium over $1000 appliance” like paying extra to make it do the one job it was designed for.

Honestly, a bargain‑bin brand would’ve given me better value — at least then the failure would match the price.

Dreadful product. Dreadful customer service. Absolute RIP‑OFF.

WESTINGHOUSE is permanently off my list.

Title: Good cooling, but poor layout with only 4 drawers makes food hard to find Review: I have owned this Westinghouse upright freezer for three weeks now. While it performs its core job of keeping things cold, the internal layout is frustratingly impractical for daily use. What works well: • Cooling: The freezing capability is strong and reliably keeps all food properly frozen. What could be improved: • Poor Internal Layout: The configuration consists of only four drawers and one shelf. The one shelf is not of much use a drawer would be more practical. there are only four drawers instead of six, you are forced to stack food high on top of each other. This makes it incredibly hard to find or organize frozen goods without everything burying each other. • USELESS DOOR ALARM: : The built-in door alarm is completely ineffective. It is nothing like a Fridge alarm that you can hear from the next room. You have to be right next to it TO HEAR IT and it only beeps about every 30 - 60 seconds. IF YOU ADVERTISE WITH AN ALARM MAKE IT A REAL ALARM Final Verdict: It freezes food well, but the lack of drawers and the quiet alarm mean it falls short on user-friendliness. I wouldn't recommend it if you like an organized freezer

Follow-up  · Very Quiet and drawers easy to remove. Energy efficiency excellent

Not robust – My 30 year old freezer finally stopped working after years of consistent service I don't think I ever really appreciated what it did. That said it was replaced but in these modern times I know the Westinghouse won't last anywhere near as long. The covers for each shelf are flimsy, the bottom level box is not easy to get in & out. And the alarm is so quiet (which for me is not really a problem) and nothing like the alarm on my fridge freezer.

Purchased in for $1,034.

Freezes food well, but... door alarm is useless – This freezer was bought to use as 'overflow' storage for the family and has done it's job well so far with one exception. The open-door alarm is essentially useless, if door not closed after 1 minute it makes only 2 short easily missed low volume aural beeps with the display warning remaining hidden behind the partially open door. Discovered this after door left slightly open overnight inadvertently... what a waste of now thawed food & $.
