This is a great small axe with an orange handle. Great for smaller jobs eg I garden a lot so this has been a wonderful addition to the tool kit. It’s not heavy - I’m a female and can’t lift much normally so think this would be fine to use universally. Found it to be really helpful and it also feels like good quality sturdy wood. I have been provided this product and asked to give my honest opinion.
Great for medium kindling. Definitely usable for camping. Manageable weight too. Size is exactly right, not too big or too tiny. Manageable for small hands like mine. While this is not a heavy duty splitting axe, it’s very good for medium firewood and branches. I received this product for my honest review. Show details
recently received the Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe with Hickory Handle as a gift for a fair and honest review. Having recently moved to an acerage property this came in extremely handy! After purchasing the axe from Bunnings, I set to work cutting through piles of tree branches on my property. I found this axe very lightweight and easy to handle -… Read more
it has a comfortable grip and made cutting up the (many) fallen branches much easier. I also feel that it was sharp enough for the job as well. It is more aesthetically pleasing than the other axes we have as well. Under supervision, my family members were also able to manage using this axe easily. I would recommend if you are after an axe for small jobs and general backyard jobs. This product was given to me for the purpose of a fair and honest review.

Wow! This Axe cuts like knife in butter. My husband loved it! He used a very old axe before and he was always struggling but with this one he could chop the firewood so easily and quickly. Now it is the part of our camping gear!
Great little axe for the smaller jobs around home. It’s a nice size, easy to handle and doesn’t feel too heavy or bulky. We’ve used it for splitting smaller pieces of wood and it gets through them easily. Really handy to have around. Show details
The Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe Hickory Handle is a great all-round axe. It's lightweight without sacrificing strength, cuts well, and has proven to be very durable. The hickory handle provides a comfortable grip, making it a reliable choice for a variety of chopping tasks.
I haven't used an axe in years, but was pleasantly surprised that this axe was very easy to use and not too heavy. The grip felt secure and it was easy to cut down firewood to a usable size. It's nice and compact, so will take it the next time we go bush camping. Paired great with the log splitter to get through a pile of oak logs easily. I received this product for my honest review.
Living in the Blue Mountains, there’s always something to do around the house and yard, and I can see this axe getting plenty of use. It’s a great size for cutting up smaller branches, clearing fallen timber and chopping firewood for the fire pit. The sharp carbon steel head makes light work of smaller jobs, and it feels like it’s built to last. I’m also a keen camper and go to the Bathurst 1000 for a week, so it will definitely be coming along with me.
As a woman, I found this to be a great size to use. It is lighter and smaller and great regular use. It is fantastic quality, smooth, sleek, great quality and really solid. Will last forever! This product was given to me for the purpose of a fair and honest review. Show details

I recently tested out this axe, primarily using it to split small firewood for our home fireplace. Overall, I came away highly impressed by the tool's performance and feel. The standout feature of this axe is how easy it is to handle. I’ve tried similar axes from other brands in the past, and they can sometimes feel unbalanced or unwieldy. In… Read more
contrast, the 2.25lb head on this Atlas Trade axe pairs really well with the traditional hickory handle. The wood has a classic feel that provides a secure grip, and the overall balance immediately gave me confidence in my swings. While I only used it for relatively short bursts of wood splitting, it made quick work of the pile without being overly heavy.
That being said, the protective sheath let me down. It's quite small and falls off the axe head far too easily. I almost lost it the first time I used the axe. It would be a welcome improvement if it strapped tightly or stuck securely to the blade so it wasn't a constant drop risk.

I was given the Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe for free in exchange for trying it out and sharing my honest opinion. I’ve been using it for general yard work, cutting smaller branches and chopping up smaller pieces of firewood, and it’s been a really handy little axe. The 2.25lb head gives it enough weight to get a good bite without feeling overly… Read more
heavy, while the hickory handle feels comfortable and provides a solid grip when swinging. The smaller size also makes it much easier to control than a full-sized axe, particularly when working in tighter areas.
One of the biggest positives for me is the balance. It feels easy to swing accurately, and the relatively compact design makes it a good option for jobs where a larger axe would be overkill.
The main downside is that the 2.25lb head is obviously not designed for big logs or heavy-duty splitting. When I tried it on larger pieces of hardwood, I found myself needing considerably more effort compared with a heavier splitting axe.
Overall, I think this is a well-balanced, practical axe for smaller jobs. It’s lightweight enough to carry around easily but still has enough weight behind it to be useful. If you’re after something for general yard work, camping or smaller firewood, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.
I’ve been really impressed with the Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe. I’ve been using it around the property for chopping smaller logs, branches and firewood, and I’ve found it to be a really practical size for these types of jobs. feel too heavy or cumbersome. I particularly like the balance of the axe because it gives you good control through the swing, which makes it easier to work with for longer periods.
The 28-inch hickory handle is one of my favourite features. It feels solid and comfortable in my hands, and the length gives you a good combination of reach, control and swinging power. The hickory also gives the axe a traditional, quality feel that you don’t always get with cheaper tools.
I found it particularly useful for breaking down smaller and medium-sized pieces of firewood, cutting branches and preparing kindling. It’s also a handy size for taking camping because it isn’t as bulky as a full-size splitting axe.
The construction feels strong and well made, and the axe has a really nice balance between being lightweight enough to handle comfortably while still having enough weight behind it to do the job properly.
If I had to mention a negative, I would say this isn’t the axe I’d choose for very large or extremely tough logs. For those jobs, I’d want a heavier splitting axe or maul. But that’s really about choosing the right tool for the job rather than a fault with this axe.
Overall, I think the Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe is a well-made, well-balanced and versatile axe that’s particularly suited to firewood, smaller splitting jobs, branches, kindling, camping and general property work. It feels like a tool that’s built to be used rather than just sitting in the shed.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good-quality, manageable axe for everyday outdoor jobs.

Average quality - does the job but definitely many better products on the market. Not enough weight to be useful for anything bigger than small logs being split for kindling. If this is all you want it for it does the job. I received this product for my honest review. Show details
The Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe Hickory Handle has good weight to it which made it easy to use. The size and length was also comfortable. Was able to use it on our camping trip recently and made getting the job done alot easier I have been provided this product and asked to give my honest opinion.
The hickory handle was comfortable to hold and had a high quality feel. It had the right handle length for those smaller jobs. The Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe was small enough to manoeuvre around and cut through some overgrown plant roots. The drop forged carbon steel head sliced through the roots easily. It performed really well, splitting all the logs we needed for our camp fire. Easy to use, anyone over 18 will be able to use this. It's sturdy, easy to hold and swing, easy to sharpen, a pleasure to use I have been provided this product and asked to give my honest opinion.
I've only had this axe for a short period of time and didn't have anything major to chop with it so i pulled out some firewood logs and ripped into some of the longer ones. The axe swung and handled well, the blade was nice and sharp and I felt chopped into the logs well. There was no head wobble once in the logs and getting it out and the handle… Read more
suited my hands well (average male adults). It would have been nice if the axe came with a little blade/head protector for inbetween uses. Note: I was provided with this product to provide my honest opinion/review.
The handle and head of the axe feels very solid and sturdy. A few hacks on a fig tree trunk easily cut through the trunk. Note fig tree wood is quite soft compared to other trees. The handle has grooves for suggested hand placement, but there is no rubber wrapping to help absorb any shock from chopping wood, so your hand and arms can feel quite… Read more
numb if you are doing a lot of chopping. Overall the design and colour choices look great, however there were some splotchy paint spots and areas where the wood connects to the carbon steel head has rough wood bits sticking out from both the bottom and top of the carbon steel head.

I tried out the Atlas trade axe a few times, it was very comfortable to hold and handle. I felt like it wasn't quite as sharp as I had expected it to be and struggled to get through a small log that only about 2" thick. The Atlas Trade 2.25lb Boy Axe Hickory felt premium in my hands and did not feel cheap of flimsy. Also very affordable. Easy enough to swing and I found the blade shaper then I anticipated. I received this product for my honest review.
I found it very agile and easy to use. As its not super heavy, it is ideal for people of varying height and strength levels to use. It looks good, its clean, and it just works. This is perfect for small chores around the garden yard, easy to use and sharpen as we go. It should be good for smaller works, but not for larger log splitting etc. For its price point, it offers impressive performance and represents outstanding value for weekend adventurers.
