Outdoor Setting. Sap sap sap and more sap.!!! – Bought outdoor setting 2nd hand from close friends. Been in storage in garsge. only 1chair had any sign of sap. once exposed to external use and sun the sap has oozed from every piece. minimal on table but repeatedly from 8 chairs. Timber obviously still green and not properly kiln dried in China before use in manufacture! only remedy is to… Read more

leave in weather as sun and heat draw out the sap, and r recsand.

Have found better to wash/ scour aggressively with Acetone ( with appropriate skin protection worn ) to remove sap bubbles rather than sanding.

Acetonecreadily avail from hardware stores in paint depts.

eventually all sap hopefully will come out, then a good sand and oil coat ( Teak oil).

Unfortunate supplier no longer in business, as this would be a clear breach of product quality and a returnable item.

Highly recommend avoid this Brand if it happens to turn up under a new retailer!

GARBAGE – Just bought and put together a Finlay and Smith BBQ softtop gazebo. What a piece of garbage. The instructions are pathetic. Nothing is square, when put together the four legs measure 73 inches (1854mm) at the top and 70 inches (1778mm) at the bottom. What ever you buy make sure it is not one of these.

love the design, practicality & strength of material – We have thoroughly enjoyed our BBQ table & chairs setting which is very comfortable, roomy & looks great on our patio. Our complaint is that the sap keeps leaking from the wood & staining our covers or clothes. We have sanded the chairs back & have re-oiled it with furniture & decking oil, water based, in the hope that this will resolve the situation. If there is a easier & better solution we'd love to hear about it.

Worst – Has not stopped leaking sap since we bought it a year ago. No wonder Masters is going bust. Avoid this brand at all costs. Not worth the hassle of dealing with it.

Sap leaking from the timber – Our set of Finlay & Smith outdoor furniture (table and benches) had been leaking sap since we bought them a few years ago. Initially we went back to Master, they told us to wait and the sap would stop eventually - we are still waiting.
