I wish I had switched to GoDaddy earlier. The support team was incredible — they helped me set up everything in just one day, including my website and email. unbelievable. It’s like living in a dark room for two decades and suddenly moving into a place with windows, sunlight, and fresh air.

The pricing is great, the service is almost instant, and the AI tools make everything simple. I really want to credit the team for their amazing support — they made the whole transition smooth and stress‑free.
Highly recommended.
★☆☆☆☆ I would not recommend GoDaddy based on my experience transferring a .co.nz domain. After the transfer completed, the domain instead showed an expiry… Read more
date of 22 September 2026, meaning I effectively received only around three months before another renewal was required.
I contacted GoDaddy support and provided evidence showing what I had purchased. Rather than addressing the fact that GoDaddy had sold and confirmed a one-year term, support repeatedly referred me back to the previous registrar and .nz registry rules.
I explained that my complaint was not about why the registry had a particular expiry date. My complaint was that GoDaddy had represented and charged me for a one-year term that was not ultimately provided.
I asked them either to honour the term stated in their confirmation or provide an appropriate refund for the portion not supplied.
GoDaddy support ultimately advised that their response was final and that they did not consider escalation necessary. I subsequently requested formal escalation in writing and received no further response.
The amount involved is relatively small, but that isn't the point. As a business owner, I need to be able to rely on what a supplier states at checkout and in its written confirmation, and I expect a reasonable escalation process when something goes wrong.
I have retained the original purchase confirmation and support correspondence documenting this experience.
As a result, I am moving my own services away from GoDaddy and will no longer recommend them to my clients.
Avoid your future self the expense and pain extracting yourself from GoDaddy - I have been locked into their sales and revenue web for 19 years and I am finally free! What started as an attractive price and decent service in 2007 quickly turned into a sales, upsell, promote and ramp expensive service. Their email was turned to MS Exchanged and a… Read more
whole host of standard email facilities were turned off, ensuring you had to extend your contracted subscriptions. Their webhosting and domain hosting quickly became the most expensive in the industry. When trying to move they make it very complex and hide their move and delete features, requiring repeated support chats to unlock and move. Over 19 years of loyal and ramping costs for a very basic subscription, I was never ever offered any retention bonus for my on time payments and ongoing custom. They just want to sell you more, push extra domains, hook you with low or no fee starters that auto-renew at full high cost for ever more.
I have spent around AU$8000 over 19 years and I am finally free - it took me 3 weeks to rebuild my websites on wordpress.com, move my domains there too and move my email to the incredibly simple and cheap purely mail. I am so relieved - I am writing this terrible review in the hope that at least one other person sees it before committing to this simply terrible company. Avoid at all costs.
For 5 email accounts, 1 basic website and 2 domains my annual cost had risen to nearly AU$800!!
Now on wordpress.com and purely mail for my 2 websites, 2 domains and 5 emails which allow redirection and forwarding additional ones at NO cost unlike GoDaddy, I am paying less than AU$100 per annum, and I have locked in that pricing for 3 years!! In three years’ time the indicated full price if I stay with these two providers will still be less than AU$200 per annum. I can barely imagine what the price would have been had I stayed with GoDaddy. Their webhosting is 3-4 times the price, their email is 25 times the price and their domains are twice the price. Oh and when you finally cancel their overpriced services don't expect any partial refund. I am so relieved to be free at last - goodbye and good riddance!!!!

Terrible features and poor support – Everything previously raised by other customers 100% legit. My main purpose of getting godaddy was to open an ecommerce site to link with facebook page. I do not recommend using GoDaddy's website design service, particularly if you are based in Australia. to deliver the website development service I had paid for. Following my initial email, [Name Removed] contacted me by phone, not to discuss my refund request, but to offer to build the website with GoDaddy's AI platform, Airo, over the phone. This was never the service I purchased. I paid for a professionally designed website built by human developers from scratch, not for AI-assisted self-build support. [Name Removed] arranged a second phone call for the following Tuesday. He did call as promised; however, due to an unexpected family emergency, I had just returned home and was not in a position to continue the conversation. Regardless, this does not change the fact that my request has always been for a full refund—not assistance using AI. It has now been 11 business days since my initial refund request and a further 5 business days since my follow-up email. During this entire period, GoDaddy has not provided a single written response acknowledging my refund request, explaining the refund process, or advising when my money will be returned. The only communication I have received has been two phone calls attempting to persuade me to continue with a service that I have already made clear I no longer wish to proceed with. What is particularly disappointing is that communication was prompt and efficient when payment was being taken. However, once I exercised my right to request a refund due to the lack of progress, communication effectively ceased. Failing to respond in writing to a legitimate refund request while continuing to promote an alternative service is unacceptable and falls well below the standard of customer service I expected. I remain firm in my position that I no longer wish to proceed with GoDaddy's website design service. I expect my refund request to be processed without further delay and to receive written confirmation advising when the refund will be initiated.

I tried to update my payment details and make payment over the phone for a service that was expiring and they couldn't get a MasterCard to work. They told me it was an issue with my bank, even though I have no issues paying for anything else. I spent 40 minutes on the phone and then the person on the other end of the phone asked if there was anything he could help me with. No, you haven't helped me with anything and now I'm extremely frustrated! There is no world that I live in that will have me recommend using GoDaddy. How GoDaddy remains to have any customers is beyond me.

it, I kept receiving renewal emails, payment attempts, and pressure to “renew now.”
When I contacted support, I was given conflicting information by multiple agents. One claimed the product had expired and wasn’t renewing, another insisted I had accepted an offer, and another told me to delete the product myself through a complicated process. No one could clearly explain why I was receiving renewal emails or why GoDaddy was attempting to debit my card.
I asked for the unwanted product to be cancelled and removed — support refused to do it and pushed me to follow a link and “delete it myself.” When I requested a refund for recent charges, I was told it was “outside policy,” even though the renewal emails made it appear the charge was related to the email service.
The entire experience felt misleading, confusing, and dismissive. I was left with a domain I paid for but no working email, and no meaningful assistance from support.
There are plenty of reputable companies out there — GoDaddy is not one of them.

This was originally a very different review. (Original one star review below.) contacted by Chad, he stepped through the problem with me and immediately went about rectifying the situation. Within ten to fifteen minutes he had gone above and beyond to not only sort out the problem, but also recognized the time I had been with Godaddy, thanking me for that loyalty.
As always, I give any company, or person a chance to rectify a situation where there is clearly been errors on their side. This was a perfect example of how things can be quickly cleared up and how relationships can be restored.... Trust is earned, not given.
Well done, Chad, and well done Godaddy. :)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- One star review: So, I just finished a 12 hours of trying to sort out a huge Godaddy mess.... and it didn't get done. Not nearly.
I had earlier contacted Godaddy about my Microsoft email 365 email plan, noticing it was increasing in price, and like most free thinking people in the world I questioned this and wanted to see if I could get a better plan. I was told that this would be possible if I locked into a longer plan (2 years) and that the discount would be really good, which it was, so I said yes.
What I wasn't told though, was that I would lose access to my desktop Outlook, and that Microsoft was phasing this out on the lower plans... Basically buy the big plan, or you'll lose access.
I only found this out after trying to sort out why my PC Outlook wasn't working for over half a day, where I then finally contacted GD support again, only to be told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.
So, now I have a 2 year plan, which is basically useless to me, and was offered no solution, or refund to the mess that GD rep had caused by his sheer deceptiveness.
It seems Zoho will be soon receiving my future business, and I will be looking for another site to host all my other pieces... Haven't been treated that unprofessional for a veeeery long time. Shame really. I have been with GD for a long, long time, and had a good relationship... Not any more. And I certainly won't be telling others to use them like I have. I will tell them to 'run like hell, and as fast as they can'.... Way to ruin a validation Godaddy, and all so that someone can crank up their commissions.
I really hope you look into this. You certainly don't need these reps on your pay sheet.
GoDaddy has improved a lot over the years. They used to struggle, but upgrades like moving from HDD to SSD have made a real difference in performance. GoDaddy uses dark patterns and murky billing practices to manipulate its customers. problems and for soooo much cheaper than GoDaddy. Liquid Web also had excellent customer service and loads more value offered for the money I spent. Regarding email, GoDaddy sent me a renewal notice for an empty account I had deleted. I mistakenly thought it was for my main business email. They happily took $235 from me, for nothing. No added value. Just a money grab. The emails didn’t clearly specify what it was for. I was busy and needed the email I thought I was paying for. When I figured out what happened they would not refund my money. I would call these “gotcha” business practices. No ethics here. No compassion. No desire to offer value for the money you spend. GoDaddy does a lot of services but doesn’t do them well.
A small billing issue that cost GoDaddy a customer After my recent experience with GoDaddy, I have moved my domains to another provider. all three years in advance.
To be fair, GoDaddy did send renewal reminder emails, although these are easily lost amongst the considerable amount of promotional emails I receive from them. I raised the issue promptly after noticing the charge and made what I thought was a very reasonable request: I was happy to pay for one year's renewal and simply wanted the additional two years refunded.
What followed was an extraordinary amount of time spent on live chat, an escalation to a supervisor, a lengthy telephone discussion, and, eventually, a referral to another team. One helpful representative did offer me an additional year of hosting, which I declined because I wasn't looking for freebies — I simply wanted the unwanted two years refunded.
GoDaddy ultimately refused, relying on its refund policy and terms and conditions. I subsequently wrote again raising my concerns and asking them to reconsider. I received no response.
The amount of money involved was relatively small. What disappointed me was the complete lack of commercial flexibility and the amount of time required to deal with something that could have been resolved very easily.
After reading other reviews here, I can see that complaints concerning automatic renewals, refunds and frustrating customer service are certainly not unique to my experience.
As a result, I have now transferred my two Australian domains to another provider at no cost and will move my remaining domain as well. I had also been considering purchasing three additional domains through GoDaddy. Those will now go elsewhere.
Sometimes, rigidly enforcing a policy costs considerably more than exercising a little common sense and looking after a customer.
If I could give zero stars I would. Recently tried to cancel and secure a refund for two domains that were auto renewed without permission. Fortunately, the domain was still available, so I contacted customer support to explain the situation. After around 45 minutes of back-and-forth discussion, the support team acknowledged that I should have been notified. They were also unable to explain why the lease agreement had ended or why no warning had been provided.
I was then placed on hold for another 45 minutes while they communicated with their Advanced Customer Support team via text. Predictably, the call disconnected. Despite confirming my phone number at the beginning of the call specifically so they could call me back if this happened, nobody contacted me.
After waiting another hour, I called again and had to explain the entire situation from the beginning. This time, the representative refused to acknowledge any issue on GoDaddy’s side and simply told me that, if I still wanted the domain, I would need to pay the full purchase price again—despite already having paid approximately $1,000 through the lease agreement.
No meaningful support, no explanation, no attempt to credit the payments already made and no effort to resolve the issue fairly.
Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend avoiding GoDaddy’s lease-to-own service. The lack of communication, accountability and effective customer support has been appalling.

waiting again and now with less than a day until expiry, I contacted them by phone. Apparently I had to email documents to them (mind you, none of the details have changed and all the information they requested was basically an ABN Lookup printout). I asked why I hadn't been told this before? No solid answer. I emailed the documents (no confirmation of receipt). Jumped on a chat, they couldn't confirm they had received them but I was told multiple times that it would be done within 24 hours. I asked for it to be escalated to a supervisor and they did not do that with the effect of, the supervisor will only tell you what I've told you. You guessed it - a day later, still unable to renew. I jumped on the chat again. Apparently when you email the information, it can take up to 24-72 hours?!? I copied my previous conversation and then we 'spoke to the team' and it would be done 'in a couple of hours'. And of course you can't move the domain in its current state (as you can't get the domain key). I have repeatedly been told false and misleading information by multiple 'Godaddy Guides' about how long it will take and what is needed, no escalation, no call back or follow up, no email communication - nothing. In this day and age - this kind of lack of customer support and service (given the premium they charge for their domains) is disappointing at best and outright disgraceful at worst.
