 AI reviews summary

The overall sentiment for GoGet is positive among first-time and casual users who value the service for its convenience, ease of booking, and variety of vehicles. Many customers highlight it as a cost-effective alternative to car ownership, particularly for short-term needs like moving furniture or running errands. However, a significant segment of long-term and business users reports a decline in service quality, citing severe frustrations with outsourced customer support, technical glitches, and aggressive fining practices.

Pros
Convenience and Accessibility: Users frequently praise the high density of "pods" in metropolitan areas and the ability to book and access a vehicle almost instantly via the app or smartcard.
Ease of Use: The "tap-and-go" system for unlocking cars and the straightforward booking process are consistently highlighted as superior to traditional car rentals.
Variety of Fleet: The availability of different vehicle types—specifically vans for moving and small hatchbacks for city trips—is a major draw for users needing specific utility.
Cost-Effectiveness: Many reviewers find the service significantly cheaper than owning a car or using ride-share services, especially with fuel and insurance included in the rates.
Cons
Poor Customer Support: A recurring and significant complaint involves unhelpful, rude, or difficult-to-reach customer service agents, with many users reporting abrupt chat terminations and long wait times.
Disputed Fines and Charges: There are numerous reports of users being unfairly fined for fuel levels or cleaning issues caused by previous drivers, as well as difficulties obtaining reimbursements for out-of-pocket fuel costs.
Vehicle Reliability and Cleanliness: Several reviewers encountered vehicles that were dirty, poorly maintained, or not at their designated location, leading to missed appointments and wasted time.
Rigid Application and Membership Issues: Users report a "black box" application process where memberships are rejected or suspended without clear evidence or recourse, particularly regarding ID verification and driving history.
Verdict

GoGet is an excellent, highly recommended solution for simple, short-term vehicle needs where convenience is the priority. However, users should be diligent in documenting vehicle condition and fuel levels with photos to protect themselves against automated fines and inconsistent customer support.

A small learning curve but then very convenient and straightforward to use. My only difficulty was the damage log in the glovebox. It only contains damage report numbers (like "#1724607") so there's no way of knowing when picking up the vehicle if any pre-existing damage has been recorded - so I had to spend time submitting a (probably unnecessary) damage report before starting my trip. Show details ·  2

It's great so simple to set up and get on the road. Contact centre staff are quick and efficient. The vehicles are in good locations and easy to get to and return. The only thing I'd like to see is being able to note your vehicle return early. Show details ·  1

The process worked well as a first time user. The location and access was very convenient which was the primary reason we booked go get. The van was excellent albeit a bit dirty on the roof. Show details ·  1

Quick and easy to use and good pricing. We were moving house and hiring the van for a few hours was much cheaper and stressless than going with a mainstream company. Payment handled well, the pickup and dropoff was painless and overall it was an enjoyable experience. Show details ·  1

Enjoyed driving the variety of GoGet cars. Hopefully, we get to drive every other model soon. I particularly, love the Picanto's - they are a lot of fun to zip around town, as is the van. One thing, I would note is the time/cost it took to fill up the tank. It was very easy to do, but it made my bill increase by another half hour (due to ten mins extension to my booking, admittedly, it took me another ten minutes to park the car carefullly). Show details ·  1

Getting the goget card that is required for getting into the vehicle was easy. I got mine from a local newsletter and linked it in my app. Getting in the vehicle was easy. Vehicle standard was great! Ending booking was easy. The designated vehicle parking was the best thing about the whole experience for me. Simple to get started and to end trip. Show details ·  1

This is an amazing service, easier to deal with than every other car hire service. I would suggest calling rather than using chat help as they didn't really listen to what I was saying. When issues with payment came about, the admin team dealt with it immediately and I was credited with no hassle. Was great for a trip to Bribie. Show details ·  1

I have been a regular GoGet user, sometimes booking vehicles for several days. I am very disappointed with the recent removal of pods in Lane Cove North, which has made access difficult for people with limited mobility. Previously, pods on Girraween Road and Willandra Street were accessible and convenient. A new pod on Willandra Street made… Read more

things even better—closer and easier to reach. Unfortunately, both have now disappeared.

The attached map shows the location of one removed pod (blue dot) and highlights the huge gap between this area and the remaining clusters, with only a few pods further away in Chatswood West. Nothing else is nearby, meaning users now have to take an Uber or rely on unreliable public transport just to reach a car.

GoGet customer service may say these pods were “not used that much,” but I’ve observed constant use, especially around Willandra Street, and with three new residential buildings now in the area, demand is only increasing.

The only remaining nearby pod at Mowbray Road and Centennial Avenue is almost always booked, showing that people in the area do need cars close by. Removing these pods has made the service far less practical, which seems counterintuitive given the growing population.

I strongly urge GoGet to reconsider pod placement in Lane Cove North. Restoring or adding pods closer to residential areas would make the service accessible, practical, and fair for all users, and ensure that a service people rely on continues to meet their needs.

I’m not reviewing Goget other products but in general the customer service improved although today I received answer from them and immediately the chat got closed by Goget as if they had no time to discuss or look for solutions. If I was them I’d at least ask the customer if they wanted help to find another vehicle…

That’s All…. ;)

I don't have a car and needed one urgently recently. I was able to locate a GoGet car close by, book it immediately for one hour, get the urgent job done and return the car to its pod. It was so easy and alleviated much of the stress. Show 2 replies

Follow-up  · The pick-up was easy. I knew there was a GoGet nearby, so I checked in the app that it was available, booked it for 1 hour and walked the very short distance to it, swiped my tag and the car was mine. It was clean, drove well and had sufficient petrol for my trip, which meant I didn't need to fill up. I simply returned it to the parking space I got it from within the hour.

Although I still own a car, I'm glad that I had joined GoGet; recently I went to an auction house and I needed to bring a large painting. Luckily for me there was a GoGet van near where my car was parked. I hired the van, left my car parked where it… Read more ·  2

was, went and picked up the painting, dropped it off at the auction house. Returned GoGet van. Much easier and cheaper than having to organise someone to do it for me. And I didn't have to wait for someone to get back to me. Well worth joining even if you still own a car. Considering petrol is included this compensates for the $0.50 per kilometre fee.

Follow-up  · Since my first use of hiring a GoGet van which was good, the latest booking was not as good. Things that GoGet and potential hirers should consider. Most GoGet cars and pods are in built-up areas; either close to the city or universities and hospitals. Because of these locations unmetered parking is scarce. When I had finished with my booking the… Read more

then the public who think it’s ok the park in a pod illegally. On top of that go get quite happily sling you fines and shrug their shoulders.

Follow-up  · GoGet appears uninterested in the core issue of lack of enforcement by Council to stop people parking in dedicated pods which then require goget users to find somewhere to leave the vehicle. It’s obvious that if there is scarce parking available people park there cars in dedicated Go get spaces. In summer hill ( nsw) the dedicated pod I needed is… Read more

Great value and great support setting up an account that needed to be used immediately. Admittedly, I was only a 2 minute walk from the car which made it easy but support was pretty amazing. Show details ·  1

Setting up an account was easy, and the verification process was quick. The only challenging part was getting a Smartcard, as you need to find a location that issues a physical card if you need to access a car quickly. Overall, I’m very happy with the service. My only suggestion would be to allow cars to be returned to different pods at the end of the rental, as this would make the service even more convenient. Show details ·  1

Go Get team is trying hard to maintain a good service, but some ugly people out there are damaging the vehicles and stealing petrol cards, affecting not just the business but others in the community that use this great service. Let's help GoGet, "if you see something say something" report people doing wrong things. Show details ·  1

Go Get is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I hired a car tonight from Logan IKEA, and the car had been broken into. Go Get booked me another car, and I had to travel half an hour to another location. I collected the car and drove for about 20 minutes before stopping it, only for the car not to start. I was told I would potentially have… Read more

to wait 2 hours (it was 8 p.m. at the time, and I am a female alone waiting by myself behind shops). When the mechanic came out and said there was a fault with the car, he doubted that it would start again, but Go Get assured me it would. Sure enough, I put fuel in the car, tried to start it, and it still would not start.

Go Get is a scam company that does not carry out quality checks on their vehicles. AVOID THIS COMPANY!

to call up which takes forever and then the support don't even know what you are talking about so they put you on hold or lie when they are not confident in amending your booking which ends up costing you time and money with no paper trail to back up the changes to your booking. They went from being local, Aussie Based or at least Managed to completely soulless outsourced faceless aloof conglomerate. The problem is they are such a monopoly now, i'm really excited for them to get replaced. I'm so sick of their crap . even now i have 4 outstanding discrepancies with them. They wont get back to me.
