Higgins once valued its subcontractors and prided itself on fairness. Today, it is clear that profit has taken priority over integrity, safety, and quality. Subcontractors are routinely underpaid compared to what clients are charged, regardless of the skill, equipment, and risk involved in the work. Fair pricing is rarely offered without a fight, and subcontractors are expected to absorb the consequences of misquoting by an inexperienced sales team.

Management’s communication is virtually non-existent unless it’s to shift blame. Safety protocols exist in name only; cutting corners to meet unrealistic sales promises is common. Scopes of work are often incomplete or non-existent, leaving subcontractors vulnerable when inevitable disputes arise. Higgins consistently shields itself by pushing responsibility onto those doing the actual work.

In South Australia, subcontractors are promised steady work and urged to commit fully — only to be cast aside without warning or explanation when convenient. After years of loyalty and countless successful projects, I have been ghosted by Higgins Coatings with zero professional courtesy.

This company is no longer what it once was. Subcontractors considering work with Higgins South Australia should be fully aware of what they are getting into.

We contracted Higgens to carry out a building wash at Mariners Reach, Gympie Tce, Noosaville. Higgens had carried out the complete repaint of our complex two years ago with wonderful results which we have reviewed earlier. that we should also allow for a paint touch up following the wash to which we thankfully agreed.

The wash down was carried out thoroughly and with precision and included both inside and outside of our boundary walls as well as all pathways and building areas.

Our building, including surrounds, is now looking sparkling clean and a tribute to the professional work and thoughtful and detailed supervision by the contractor.

Our experience with the Higgens North Sunshine Coast team is very positive and we would recommend them without hesitation to any local Body Corp looking for repaint and building clean.

Bunch of cowboys – Most useless workers/subcontractors of all time. Are extremely slow, damage property and leave a mess behind every time

Whittles Body Corp Management is NOT HIGGINS CLIENT!!!!! – Can't ring complaints. the dodgy ( imo) Body Corp Company Higgins got the job from took me to Human Rights, Brisbane 14!12/2023 seeking financial compensation, saying I called him a "[Content Removed]" LIAR, liar pants on fire!!!!!!! . Then he took me to QCAT, again allow 3 hours. Same old, same old " [Content Removed]" lies. This was on 19th April 2024 at 1.30pm. Stated $10,000 is the price he puts on sleepless nights.

Blind Freddie can see this behaviour is to take the heat off the illegal vote under Qld Body Corp law to get our building a paint job that wasn't necessary for at least 3 years. Also [Name Removed] was written in Higgins work book as their" client." He isn't!!!! Cascades Body Corp are Higgins clients. Now [Name Removed] has Invoiced me $220 to cover a email of LIES he wrote me last year accusing me of trying to reverse my car over a Higgins Employee!!!!!!!! 5 +months being harassed through the courts with the LIES OF [Name Removed].

I will never pay an invoice for an lying email. I have tried to contact you. Whittles and their Insurance have blocked phone and emails.. It is not a good look for your company to align themselves with LIARS, who are after money from old ladies , who actually stupidly OWN A APARTMENT IN QLD. Man - up and get a human to answer your phone.

Unprofessional – Painful experience, slow, messy and rude. They can't wait to get out the door, and you can't wait for them to leave.

Committee to select the right company. From the initial process of discussing the scope of works, the paints selection etc with the sales manager, to the implementation, the supervisor and painting team were professional and courteous at all times, liaising with the residents and the Committee as works progressed. With a walk around at the end to review the works we were very satisfied with the quality of the works and would highly recommend Higgins services.

according schedule, very attentive to the traffic and no damage or unnecessary disturbance. I appreciated regular quality checks with the residents and follow up on any issues/questions etc. We are all very happy with the final product and the company. All of the people from the company from the sales, project manager, designer to the great team of painters were pleasure to deal with. Appalling service – Our Body Corporate engaged Higgins to carry out substantial works within the apartments common area which we were upgrading at a cost of $100,000 in total. correspondence, including using bully boy tactics with our female building manager, continuing by declaring it was a great job when clearly it was not in the residents opinion. The workers and subcontractors are polite but the management are impossible to deal with.

Without exaggeration - the worst painting I've seen – After reviewing a few quotes to repaint our complex, Higgins came in as the most expensive but we thought we would go for them given their size and assurance and confidence we were offered during the beginning. with paint splattered all along the floor and walls of properties. There is paint of people's fly screen windows and doors. The pool also has paint on it which was multiple meters away from what needed painting. The painters also without notice hopped into people's gardens and ripped up plants to access areas. Additionally only one coat was applied rather than the two specified.

We have began seeking legal action. I would recommend you try and avoid Higgins.

Worst possible outcome – Higgins Coatings were contracted to re-paint the exterior of our residential complex. They started with the wrong equipment for access to sections of the property, they didn't negotiate access with owners and tenants beforehand, and throughout the project they were poorly organised and often turned up unannounced. the surface preparation was hit and (mostly) miss, they applied a single coat where two coats were contracted, and at times they painted in unsuitable conditions. There was high staff turnover (unhappy sub-contractors), they damaged property (e.g. plants, balconies), didn't always use drop sheets, and took much longer than specified in the contract. Overall, their performance was a far cry from the the slick presentation made before we signed up. The price quoted for the painting appeared 'cheap', which ought to serve as a warning. We could not have imagined a worse outcome. Ignore the tri-certification they trumpet, and any grandiose claims in any quotation - in practice they count for nothing.

Never Ever Use This Company – Shoddy workmanship all over our complex. The work described in quote was non existent. Won't fix their shoddy errors, left all their rubbish.

AVOID! Do not use. They are awful – Every few years we have the facades and some internal and external assets around the apartment complex repainted, and we tried Higgins for the first time this year. Their business engagement team is smooth and won us over, however, the painting job is awful. Awful. We have never seen such sloppy painting, so many lies told, so many short cuts… Read more

and so many surfaces having paint flicked on them. They do not mask, the do not use drop sheets. So many residents had their plants and personal outdoor belongings damaged. They do not use safe working procedures. Painters were climbing balconies up to four stories!!! I was shocked witnessing the painting. When the project manager was confronted about painting mistakes or damage to property that residents had witnessed a web of lies and denial would follow. The round about in the middle of our circular driveway was also damaged by painters vehicles.

We will not be using Higgins in the future, and I would encourage others to listen to reviews about them online and avoid.

Avoid Higgins at all cost – Virtually no preparation, painted over flaking paint rust and dust, minor repairs as quoted for not carried out, replaced rotting gutter with a patch of different profile guttering. refusing to fix the problems. An inadequate discount of $350 for work not having to be carried out eg. replacing 20 mt. of fascia [and paint], and paint 4 external doors. I was told that interest will be charge if the balance owing was not paid in 12 hours. I would avoid Higgins no matter how cheap the quote or how good the promises may seam. My terrible review rating is similar to others be warned.

Would happily recommend – We needed a company with the resources to finish sections of the building exterior in a short time frame and also demonstrate that they could comply with our workplace health and safety requirements. Higgins Coatings – Do not use them. They were engaged by the body corporate to perform maintenance and painting to a unit complex. They painted straight over rusted metal with no preparation. They painted external surfaces after it had just been raining whilst surfaces were wet. They did not use drop sheets and painting is extremely messy.

Do not use – Higgins coatings was employed to paint a block of apartments of which one we own. Very poor patchy finish. They did not prepare surfaces that needed it but just painted over the top. I cannot recommend them. I do not recommend them. Choose an alternative painting company as they will cost more in long run.

Messy unprofessional – They are so unprofessional They lie telling you they put 2 coats on and they put one They paint over rust instead of treating it correctly They make up excuses for dodgy work instead of fixing them Don't use drop sheets And make a mess leave paint all over windows and glass Work unsafely Don't be folled by Higgins they will do half a job and end up costing you money Don't use higgins Messy one coat paint over rust lies
