First time I tried Jed’s 4 coffee beans 1kg bag at Coles on sale for $28. A great tasting coffee. Yes, it is a dark roast, but it’s not bitter. Instead it has a ‘deep’ flavour that lingers on your palette. The caramel notes are there, but it’s subtle. These days I find some brews have too many other flavours, and you soon lose interest in it. Jed’s 4 has an authentic coffee taste, at a humble price. Show details

Yuk, just yuk. Not recommended, bought as were on special at Coles. Not a fan of wasting things so will be having very awful coffee until the 1 kg bag is finished. Show details

Worst coffee I've ever tried. And that's the Jeds mild roast no.3, not the darker x version. writing a review here as there's no where to warn others about no.3. This coffee cannot be dialled in. It is burnt, thin and pithy. It might as well be packaged Vittoria coffee but so much worse. This is not a flavour problem, I've been in coffee long… Read more

enough to appreciate different styles and flavours.

Jeds if you're reading this, you should be disgracefully ashamed of yourself for charging $50 a bag at Coles for this rubbish. Maybe you are proud? But if you are honest you know what you are doing.

Anyway they are owned by a corporate, and this is probably an acquired brand gone to sh+t. Should have know when I read that on the packet after purchase.

I’ve had a breville espresso machine for 8 years, and have never had trouble dialing in the grind/dose for any beans I’ve tried…until now. I don’t know how it’s possible but these beans can behave in completely contrary ways. They can be not fine enough to hold the pressurized water (the grinder is set to the very extreme of fineness of grind, yet… Read more

still end up over extracted with a grittiness the comes from such finely ground beans. Any reduction of grind fineness immediately leads to the water simply gushing through the portafilter leaving watery brown dirty water. . This shouldn’t be possible, yet these terrible beans achieve this rare distinction. This Breville Barista Pro with its 30 grind settings plus additional 10 internal burr grind settings is defeated. There is no setting within those extremely broad parameters that can make these beans palatable. Yuk!

UNDRINKABLE - Worst beans I've bought in the 20+ years that I've had coffee machines. Even on the finest grind, packed as tight as possible I can't get Crema. The flavour is horrible and bitter. I want my money back. Show details

I was so happy when I found this at Coles. I think it's a product you shouldn't buy unless you like dark roast. If you like Japanese charcoal roasted coffee beans or the discontinued Starbucks dark roast that used to be sold at Coles, you'll love this. I use a filter to brew it. It's not as bitter as it looks.

For 50 years we have always ground coffee beans and made our coffee in the traditional stovetop way with a Bialetti. We also ‘blend’ our beans from around 5 different brands. But since discovering Jed’s Extreme beans they have become the main ingredient that have added such strength of flavour to the blend. All our friends just love our coffee too. Thanks a lot Jed!! Show details

Amazing coffee for some, but not for everyone – Great taste for those that enjoy an intense coffee, though many people writing reviews on it appear to have confused "extreme" intensity, expecting anything other than exactly that... If you prefer to have coffee with milk/sugar, or enjoy something mild for a black coffee, best buy a lesser blend. If you prefer your coffee strong and black, or… Read more

for the bean's taste to penetrate that of the milk and sugar, this is a fantastic choice.

You will love it or hate it, but don't buy an "extreme" tasting coffee and post a review complaining about it being extreme. It's not burnt, it's not poor quality, it's just not something you enjoyed.

Maybe robusta lovers will like it?? – I’m assuming the “extreme” is coming from using robusta rather than arabica beans although it doesn’t state anything on the bag. I didn’t think of checking the packaging before purchase as generally Australian beans tend to be arabica. After 1 cup, will be throwing the rest of the 1kg bag of beans in the bin. A huge waste of money. Show details

Bitter! – I bought a bag of Jeds extra strong. The beans are black and shiny. The taste is awfully bitter. I'm actually laughing now after reading these reviews. I've cleaned, descaled, bought new filters for my machine to try to combat the problem. Must be the beans!

jed's – jed's. shall i compare thee to a summer's day? yes. dark roast with strong intense flavour (sound's like my Othello). not for the weak-hearted (sounds like my whole ouvre). literature's my big thing. also your roast (extreme's my preference) which i drink everyday. brian "shakespeare" potiki

Not as strong as I expected if the X is going to turn you off for Xtreme – So I brought these purely because they were on sale and I got double flybuy points for the purchase. I don’t know what I was expecting, but they are very smooth, not as strong as I was expecting considering the darkness of the bean itself. As someone else has stated they’re the best beans that Coles sell. If I’m honest $36 a bag is excessive, so… Read more

I will be buying these whenever they’re on sale, and I’ll buy a couple of bags to get me through.

So I will purchase again.

Very very bitter and just unpalatable – I like strong coffee , bought a pack of Jed’s extreme and a pack of very strong. Both were virtually undrinkable due to the burnt tasting bitterness Show details

Boom! Strong, tasty, loving it – Finally found that smack in the face caffeine hit we’ve been looking for! Saw this for the first time and it was on special,so decided to try. It’s probably a bit expensive for us at normal price so will keep an eye out for it on special again. Show details

Best coffee at Coles – We grind our own beans at home. Often buying most expensive brands at Coles, but this was on sale and gave it a try. So glad I did. Best tasting beans I've had for a while. Will certainly buy from now on! Show details

Worst coffee ever – For the first time in nearly 50 years of brewing, I’ve thrown out coffee. Burnt beans, bitter and they create so much static in my grinder, none of it ends up in my portafilter. It sprays out everywhere. Never been so disappointed in coffee beans. Show details

the most bitter and burnt coffee I've ever had – I was out of my normal coffee, and I happen to see Jeds coffee on the shelf at the supermarket. I thought I would try something different, so I bought a kilo bag. As soon as I opened the bag, I knew I made a mistake. The coffee smelled badly burnt. It tasted even worse than it smelt. If I could give this coffee zero stars, I would I don’t understand how people can drink this coffee. Show details

The Awful Bitter Truth – Most awful and bitter coffee I've tasted - could barely stomach the taste of burnt beans - no, not even the beans but tasted like burnt bean husks and I am an avid espresso drinker. Just brings me back to the immutable truth that Illy is really the only coffee. Don't know why other roasters bother. Show details

Only if you like burnt coffee beans – There is a strong coffee and there is a bag full of burnt beans. This one is one of the later. While the beans are physically of good quality they are dark brown just a few shades short of black. I ended up buying a bag of regular strong coffee and mixing them (the single brown bean in the photo), I know, I drink it for the planet.
