hardwood floor but not as good as sleeping on a thick carpeted floor. I'm a side-sleeper who usually sleeps on a cloud-like soft-medium mattress (Madison Waldorf). Side-sleeping with a pillow between your lower legs is the best sleep position, according to doctors and studies, for your digestion, breathing and spinal alignment. This koala Sofa Bed has basically zero give for your shoulders and hips so I'm just sore this whole trip, as I can only sleep on my side. This would actually be a great bed for someone who likes a firm/hard mattress but I feel like most people in the west don't so this should have a big warning about how firm/hard it is. My wife tried it one night also and absolutely hated it too, commenting on how much it hurt her body sleeping on it. I definitely wouldn't buy it or recommend it to anyone unless they like a firm/hard mattress.

feel of the upgraded fabric so I'd say yes it's worth the extra money to upgrade. As per other reviews, yes there is a bit of slope forward but not to the point where you're going to slide off the sofa. I've found I can even remove the back pillow and just sit right back against the backrest and it's still comfortable and it removes the feeling of the slope all together as you have extra room to sit deeper. As a bed, it's very easy to set up and super comfortable with no springs or uncomfortable metal struts like the good ol' days. I do find the mattress topper gets pretty warm in summer though, so I generally opt not to use it. It's not an everyday couch for the whole family - even Koala will tell you that - but if you're looking for a versatile piece of furniture that ticks more than one box, then I'd recommend it.

Final Update: I'm pleased to say that Koala reached out after my review and carefully reconsidered my situation. They acknowledged that my enquiry could have been handled better and, as a gesture of goodwill, offered to provide the replacement covers in the colour of my choice at no cost. The quality of the sofa itself seems great, but our experience with customer service has been extremely disappointing. When the sofa arrived, we realized the fabric color we had selected online didn't suit our room as we had expected. Since Koala sells replacement cover sets for this exact sofa separately on their website, we contacted customer service to ask if we could simply exchange the covers.

To our surprise, we were told this isn't possible. Instead, the only option offered was to return the entire sofa to the warehouse and purchase a completely new one with the desired fabric.

This makes no sense from a customer or environmental perspective. If replacement covers are already available for purchase, why can't customers exchange unused covers instead of transporting an entire sofa back and forth? It creates unnecessary cost, inconvenience, and waste for everyone involved.

We weren't asking for a refund or a different sofa—just a practical way to swap the fabric. It's a very disappointing policy that falls well short of the level of customer service we expected from Koala. Hopefully Koala reviews this policy, as it seems unnecessarily inflexible and environmentally wasteful. I would happily update this review if Koala introduces a more sensible solution or resolves our situation.

Update: After posting this review, Koala responded publicly and asked me to provide my order details so they could look into the matter. I promptly supplied all the requested information, hoping they would review the situation and offer a practical solution. Unfortunately, after that initial response, I never heard from them again.

This lack of follow-through has been even more disappointing than the original policy itself. Taking the time to respond publicly but then failing to continue the conversation or provide any meaningful resolution gives the impression that the response was more about managing the public review than genuinely helping a customer.

The sofa itself appears to be well made, but customer service is ultimately measured by how issues are handled after a purchase. Sadly, my experience has left me feeling let down, and I cannot recommend Koala based on the level of after-sales support I received.

Bought the single size for the nursery room. It's a great size, the equivalent of a king single. Long enough for me to sleep on and I'm over 6ft. Also large enough to really lounge in. Highly recommend. Show details

are thinking about buying one go and find somewhere to try it first I spent a lot of money and I should’ve just bought bed and mattress for guests. I had done so much research I still cannot believe how the koala came up as the best I’m baffled!

Comfy as a bed, looks smart, uncomfy as a sofa – Looks great, good to sleep on but quite uncomfortable to sit on. Too deep and to high to be a comfy sofa. My legs are long, so don't know how average folk sit comfortably on it. Recommend for a spare room, but not for a living room for lounging.

Okay sofa but the comfort and the fabric quality is not the best and assembly was a little bit of a pain (putting the fabric over).

Easy to put together, functional with the option to flip and use as coffee table top. It fits 1-2 blankets inside. It is a bit smaller than hoped for squishy to fit two pairs of feet but fine!

Couch itself is good. took years before finally getting one because I was worried I wouldn’t like it, but it is actually quite good. Bit expensive but it’s comfy and I love the colour and feel of the cover. I was worried about it sliding forward a lot like of people have said of the older generations but this one doesn’t do it too much.
