Rachael at Registry Australia was amazing to deal with. Unlike the competitors... she is in Australia, was very bubbly and very efficient. She gave me a great rate on my business name renewal and made the phone call that I was not looking forward to very simple and quick. Somebody give this lady a pay rise. I'll be asking for Rachael for any further needs. Thanks heaps. Matt Smitham (Smitham & Son Mobile Brakes) Show reply

They send notices in the mail to you, and they specifically designed these notices to look like official government notices, to try to trick you. In reality in many cases you would already be registering annually yourself via other means, so Registry and their markup is not needed (eg register directly and you'll save a few hundred dollars).

Has been repeatedly sending me business name renewal letters (redundant service) despite having no consent to market to me. Have reported to the ACCC and ACMA based on breach of privacy and anti-spam laws. Have forwarded a report to the ACCC suggesting they investigate the results for Registry Australia PTY LTD on product review as the content of the positive reviews appears very, very fake

SCAM... because... Can you do it yourself? YES Do they tell you that they are providing a service for double the actual price of the product? NO Are they a Govt dept.? NO It wouldn't be a scam if they explained to you that they are charging additional for a service. It's shocking that these mob got 4.7 star on "Product Review". And there goes away my trust with "Product Review" as well...

After wasting a couple of hours this morning on the pitiful ASIC website, trying to add my 23 year old ABN to my 13 year old Business Name - and getting nowhere at all, I finally went to the recent business name registration notification email and found a phone number - one that was not a recorded info line, or the ASIC line that is supposed to… Read more ·  1

take to you to a human but in the same breath tells you they're too busy to take your call and you should call back later. The lovely Darcy, from Registry Australia, was the balm my frayed nerves and battered brain cells needed. In no time at all, she'd comprehended the problem and gave me the fix - just send them an email and the ABN would be added to my Business Name by the end of the day. That is the difference between so many of our government organisations, and the private sector entities authorised to handle the government department's service delivery. The private sector people are actually reachable, responsive, and they are cheeful and patient as they handle customers like me who come to them aggravated by the public service sector's total disinterest. If you're in this situation one day, give ASIC a very wide berth and just go straight to the people who will get the job done, and who actually sound like they'll enjoy resolving your problem. I know I will go to Registry Australia before I ever consider ASIC in future!

Complete scam. If it wasn't a scam, why would they send you a notice that mimics an official government authority telling you to pay a review fee for $495 (50% more than it costs to go to ASIC directly). Why would they print on the envelope a return address which is a PO Box at the Law Courts of Victoria? Everything is geared towards fooling the… Read more

recipient into thinking it's an official notice. Otherwise it would just be a regular commercial brochure.

Note also the plethora of positive reviews on this site which follow a very standard template (thanking a person they've named and then a generic description of the services provided which aren't specific enough for you to figure out that these are things you can do directly online with ASIC or domain providers; or they start with italics). Lots of fake positive reviews, it seems. They're doing a good job of flooding with reviews to hide the real reviews. Note also these fake reviews have random photos of pictures unrelated to the service - picture of a smiling man, a dog with drawn in eyebrows, a messy room.

Over a weekend I received an email from the Registry detailing an error with my account. The email contained very clear instructions on how to fix it, as well as the relevant URL links to help get to the appropriate page to make the necessary changes. The inclusion of these links plus the extreme helpfulness made me suspicious. After a thorough… Read more

check of the email details against information I acquired from independent sources I was left believing that this email was an extremely sophisticated scam. A telephone call to the Registry Support team verified the authenticity of the email, however the support person, Caysie T offered to remedy the error on my behalf thereby saving me time. Whilst the email was more instructive and helpful than any email I have received of this nature the member of the Registry’s support team, Caysie was next level, as well as being professional, kind and very courteous. If Caysie is representative of the staff employed by the Registry, then well done to the Registry, and thank you for the excellent support you provided me.

We received a notice from Registry Australia for our business name renewal, amount was $99 for 12 months or $189 for three years. I paid 12 months on April 1 2026. The transaction went to a company Business Name Renewal. In May we received a… Read more

reminder notice from Registry Australia indicating it was unpaid. My husband contacted them by phone and then had email confirmation that Business Name Renewal was a different company using Registry Australia letterhead and confirmed Business Name Renewal had not passed on our payment to ASIC for our renewal. I confirmed with ASIC and was advised Registry Australia was a third party vendor collecting on their behalf. We have lodged a dispute on the transaction with our bank providing documentation our payment never went to ASIC. When I looked at the ASIC website the fee for 1 year renewal was $45 and for 3 years $104. How can this be allowed, a third party charging more than double the fee for business registration. How can a business allow another to use their letterhead? Its a disgusting scam. I've now registered on the ASIC website to pay direct to them, none of this nonsense third party rip off. And ASIC, do better. Stop allowing this to happen!

Follow-up  · The notice was on their official letterhead. Both companies used the same letterhead. Registry Australia stated the don’t know how Business Name Renewal used it. The renewal notice looked exactly like my the same as the original notice but with a big red “OVERDUE” stamped on it. I went to Google to find the Ascic website. You need to create an account and log in to either pay online or request an jn oice for tax purposes.

I received an unsolicited postal notice from Registry Australia Pty Ltd / registry.com.au about my company annual review. I did not request their services, I have never appointed them to act for my company, and my company obligations are already handled by my existing accountant. In my opinion, the notice is deliberately invoice-like. It shows my… Read more

company name, review date, a $475 “Review Fee”, reference number, card payment logos, phone payment instructions, a QR code to “pay now”. The “third-party / independent of ASIC / not a bill” wording is placed in a small footer at the very bottom, after all the payment-focused information. Including a disclaimer in the footer does not change the overall impression. And there's no instructions on how to “opt-out”. A busy small business owner could very easily mistake this for something official or necessary and pay before realising it is an optional third-party service. I consider this a misleading and predatory style of marketing. I would strongly warn other business owners to check directly with ASIC or their existing accountant/registered agent if you receive an invoice from them.

Not technically a scam but totally unethical what they are doing!! I receive these letters multiple times a year and they are clearly created to trick people into believing they are from government. They do this with both business name renewals and company reviews. Use the ASIC website directly and save yourself the money. For example, they… Read more

charge around $99 for a business name renewal when ASIC charges about $45 directly. Such a shame, so many new business owners would be falling for this.

I spoke with Stella this morning and she was absolutely terrific. She answered every question thoroughly and clearly, and came across as very natural, polite and genuinely helpful. She’s exactly the kind of person I would want answering calls and enquiries for my own company. An invaluable young person and, in my experience, very rare to come across. A real asset to the business.
