The Ecosa Cooling Pillow is highly regarded for its ergonomic support and customisable design, with many users reporting significant relief from chronic neck, shoulder, and back pain. While the cooling feature is praised by hot sleepers for providing a "freshly flipped" sensation, its effectiveness varies depending on the use of pillowcases and ambient temperature. The pillow’s adjustable height system is a standout feature, though some concerns regarding long-term durability and fabric pilling have been raised.
Pros
- Customisable Height: The inclusion of removable inserts allows users to precisely adjust the loft to suit their shoulder width and sleeping position (side, back, or front).
- Effective Pain Relief: Numerous reviewers with cervical disc issues, spinal fusions, or general stiffness report a substantial reduction in morning neck pain and migraines.
- Supportive Ergonomics: The contoured memory foam maintains its shape well, providing a balance of firmness and "squishy" comfort that keeps the spine aligned.
- Cool-to-Touch Sensation: The cooling side effectively disperses heat for many, reducing night sweats and the need to constantly flip the pillow.
Cons
- Surface Durability Issues: Multiple users reported the fabric cover began pilling or fraying within a short period, particularly when used without a pillowcase or with facial hair.
- Diminished Cooling with Covers: The cooling effect is notably less effective once a standard pillowcase is added, leading some to suggest using specific silk or bamboo covers.
- Variable Cooling Longevity: While initially cold, some find the pillow eventually warms up to body temperature if they do not change positions during the night.
- Premium Price Point: A segment of users feels the pillow is expensive compared to standard cooling foam alternatives or other Ecosa products.
Verdict
The Ecosa Cooling Pillow is an excellent choice for individuals seeking relief from neck pain through highly adjustable, ergonomic support. While the cooling technology is a significant benefit for hot sleepers, users should be prepared to use specific pillowcase materials to maintain the effect and monitor the cover for potential pilling.
I am one of those people who have spent hundreds of dollars on pillows trying to get comfortable. Having a free trial made me feel confident to give the Ecosa pillow a go. I am really happy with the pillow. The contour is soft but supportive. Happy to recommend this pillow. Show reply
You really can feel a difference with this cooling pillow, however you can’t use a pillow protector with it, unfortunately. This is my second escape pillow and I love the shape and how versatile it is. Highly recommend. Show details · 1

The cooling pillow for menopause – I had the Ecosa original pillow and it was great for relieving pain in my neck and shoulders as I have bad injuries to both areas however I am in menopause and have been for 10+ years now with night sweats and even though I washed the cover weekly and I had a silk pillowcase also washed weekly the sweat had gone through to the pillo. to buy another and to my surprise you had the cooling pillow I absolutely love it has helped so much but I do hope that you would also sell the covers separately as I feel this would be beneficial to a lot of your customers and also o love the smoother texture of the actual pillow love love love it thank you.
The cooling aspect is great but after two days the pillow starts to fray and becomes really uncomfortable to sleep on. I suspect it's because my beard is rubbing on the material -surely pillow should be able to handle people with beards...

In-depth reviews
I've been contemplating this review for a few weeks. The things I like about the Ecosa Cooling Pillow are the soft memory foam, which doesn't make my ear sore as a side sleeper, and especially the height pads. They're easily the best feature. I'm not even sure they're memory foam, they feel more like regular foam. I actually used them in a cheap… Read more
memory foam pillow and, comparing that setup to the Ecosa now, I can't say there's a massive difference.
As for the "cooling" claim, it's misleading. The pillow doesn't cool you down, it's just less hot than regular memory foam. I also dislike the marketing around the perpetual discounts. Seeing a constant "sale" from $210 to $168 does nothing for me.
A video of it rolled up made it seem travel-friendly, especially with the height pads for different beds. The bundle setup (pillow, multiple height pads, and travel accessories) adds to that appeal.
The biggest downside is how long it's taken to get comfortable. It took me around five weeks to find a good sleeping position, despite the endless Instagram ads promising the best night's sleep. None of my previous pillows took this much adjustment.
I also dislike the lower side of the pillow. It feels poorly designed for sleeping, though it could work as a wedge when lying in bed using a device. I use the higher side, but unlike most neck-style pillows where the other side has a slight lower contour, this one is almost flat. The higher side also feels a bit too high for comfortable long use.
Another issue is the overall size. Even with only the 3 cm height pad installed, it’s a tight fit in a standard pillowcase. When compressed, the pillow feels firmer than intended. I can’t imagine how it would fit with the larger height options installed. I did try 4 cm, and it confirmed my point, but it was too uncomfortable.
I'm still within the trial period and undecided. The height pads are the main reason I'm leaning toward keeping it, but seeing the non-cooling version advertised as the best-seller also makes me question whether I chose the wrong one and whether I'd be better off with that instead.

I’ve bought so many "cooling" pillows in the past that feel cold for five minutes and then turn into a heating pad by midnight. This one is completely different. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and here is what actually makes it worth the money: - It stays cool: The cooling side actually works. It does a great job of dispersing heat so… Read more · 1
you aren't constantly flipping the pillow over looking for a cold spot in the middle of the night.
- You can change the height: This is a massive plus. Usually, buying a memory foam pillow is a gamble because you don't know if it'll be too high or too flat. Being able to adjust the height meant I could tweak it until it perfectly fit how I sleep.
- Great support: It has a really nice, supportive feel. It shapes to your neck and head nicely, giving you that comfortable, weightless feeling without waking up with a stiff neck.
- No weird smell: A lot of foam pillows smell like a chemical factory when you open them, but this one was fine right out of the box.
It’s definitely on the pricier side, but if you’re a hot sleeper who is tired of wasting money on pillows that don't fit quite right, this one is absolutely worth it.
If you have neck issues this may be good for you - it has been good for me. I have struggled for a long time with finding a pillow that fits the contour of my neck in a way that is comfortable and supportive. Since using this pillow I have almost no neck pain when I used to get it every other day. The pillow has 2 raised edges with one being… Read more · 1
shorter than the other so you are given options. The pillow also comes with inserts that you can slide into the back to raise the pillow further.
I used it without a cover to get the cooling effect but I did not notice it much but that may because I have very thick hear. When I didn't use a cover I noticed the material fray very slightly so I would recommend a cover.
The material is soft without losing support. I used to have to squish my pillows around to get a shape that works but this does it flawlessly.
I was offered a discount off my next purchase for submitting this review; however, everything I've said is completely honest and I'll probably put the discount towards buying a second of these pillows.

It was time to replace our old Ecosa pillows and I was thrilled to see the new cooling pillows as an option. I’m very pleased the profile and softness hasn’t changed and the added cooling feature is really beneficial for both my husband and I who are hot sleepers. Congratulations on another wonderful product Ecosa. Show details · 2

Pillow arrived very quickly. It fits my side sleeping style very well, I love the cooling aspect add on as I tend to get very hot during my sleep. Unfortunately I can’t rate it 5 stars as a product due to after 2 days of use, the pillow case started fraying and strands of threads are all over. Currently reached out to support team and seeing if this is a known issue?
Team has reached back to me and after trimming off the balls of fibres, it is a little better.
And if I was to want a replacement pillow case, it will be a 2 month wait, hence making me just keep my existing defect one.
Thanks

The Ecosa cooling pillow is a hands down winner. I purchased two of them a month ago and my wife and I love them. They are adjustable to suit your personal preference and they really do feel cool to sleep on. My wife wants to ditch all of our old pillows and replace them with the Ecosa cooling pillow. The pillows themselves are comfortable and I like how you can adjust the height of them with the inserts. Once you have a pillow case on the cooling effect is not really noticeable. Without the pillow case they are nice and cool, but not very aesthetic. Show reply
I’ve found the pillow to be very comfortable. I’m no longer waking with a sore neck and shoulders. I find it somewhat cooling, but nothing extraordinary. Overall I am very happy with it. I really love the pillow. Show reply

Good product, cooling is noticable, but not perm. Would not suggesting upgrading from the standard version to this, but would opt for this version over the standard version if you're new to the brand. Show details · 1

Happy with the purchase - Ecosa Cooling Pillow. It has a nice balance of firmness and comfort - supportive enough to keep my head and neck feeling well aligned, that results in comfortable sleep. comfortably now. It also doesn’t go flat easily, which makes it feel reliable night after night. Overall, it’s made a real difference to my sleep and I’d happily recommend it.
P.S. - I am still switching the height from time to time - 2mm to 3mm to 5mm. a great feature to have it. Thanks!
Ive been using the pillow for about a month now. The pillow seems to be losing its curve a bit but its still working. I had severe back neck and shoulder pain and was taking voltaren for some relief. night was instant relief. I did have to get used to not sleeping in funny positions, but once i was lying properly it was even better. When i had any questions the customer care team was very helpful and responsive.
I bought this to see if it would stop me waking up with a stiff and sore neck. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and IT WORKS! I’ve even slept for over six hours without waking which is brilliant. Show details · 1
This is the best pillow I’ve had in 63 years!! I’ve struggled to be comfortable with all sorts of expensive and cheap pillows over the years. I feel like I’ve hit the jackpot with this one. It is so supportive whilst remaining soft and comfortable. I have had a spinal fusion and neck fractures. Since purchasing this pillow, I drift off to sleep much easier. Very thankful.
