Already owned a mopping robot but felt that just dragging a damp mopping plate around the floor was not a great way to mop. The instructions had said the plate vibrated to give it the necessary bite to clean but I never saw this occurring. Almost a month of ownership before I found out the instructions were actually referring to a more advanced… Read more

model ...but they never made the distinction between models covered by the (very scant) instructions. So when I came across an Ecovacs T50 Omni on sale for less than half price, I decided I would give it a go. This model has twin rotating mopheads (more of that later) which I had since found out to be more effective than dragging around a wet static pad.

SETTING UP: Unpacking and physically setting up the vacuum presented no particular problems ...except for the supplied instructions. There is a “leaflet” rather than a manual supplied in the box, and the expectation is that (apart from the basics), you look at the information supplied on Ecovacs website or in the Ecovacs app. If you don’t already have the Ecovacs app, you need to download this first, create an account, pair the vacuum to your WiFi and then allow the vacuum to “map” your house. Compared with previous robot vacuums, I must commend Ecovacs for streamlining the process and having it done in quick time. Some tips here include removing “temporary” obstructions such as random child/dog toys, putting up chairs and generally removing anything that is “temporarily” there. Another tip is closing blinds on sliding glass doors and windows that extend to floor level. The first time I tried the mapping the vacuum “looked” through the glass and attempted to map the outside entertainment area where it will never go. In my case, took about 30minutes to complete the map but it will still require you to go into the app and add virtual barriers between rooms as well as naming them. This will make it a lot easier to specifically target set rooms when the vacuum is sent out to work.

VACUUMING: The vacuum process is operated from the phone app or from linking to Alexa/Google. My wife and I always find it easier to access the app to control the unit and we have the app on both our phones as well as both our tablets to do this. You can also turn on a voice control called Yiko (pronounced "yeeko") whereby you can vocally direct operations for the robot. Tip. There is a lit three pointed star on the front of the vacuum. If the lights are white, voice control is off. If the lights are yellow, voice control is turned on. As well as cleaning individual rooms, the app also allows for “Scenario Cleaning” where you can create cleaning routines to do particular rooms. You can also set the water flow rate for mopping as well as select levels of vacuuming suction ...such as Quiet Mode, Standard, Strong and Max. Cleaning speed too can be adjusted between “Standard”, Depp Cleaning and Quick as well as designating a single or double pass.

MOPPING: There are two spinning mops at the rear. They are velcroed onto the pads which are in turn held onto the vacuum with strong magnets. This makes it easy to replace when the mop pads become worn (Ecovacs recommends after 150 hours of operation). You can detach the cloth mops from the mop pad and put them in the washing machine but that is not frequently required as the machine washes and drys the mops (to prevent smells) after each clean. On the top of the docking station are two large (detachable) water tanks. One contains the fresh water for mopping while the other contains the dirty “gray” water retrieved from the mops. Tip. Add a third of a cup of white vinegar to the retrieved gray water tank as it can smell between emptying. I found it only requires emptying every week or so. While you can use plain water for mopping, Ecovacs recommends adding their cleaning concentrate to the water. It's fairly economical with only two capfuls per tank load. I notice the more “advanced” models have a separate bottle that automatically add the concentrate but feels its just as easy to add the capfuls when you refill the clean water tank every week or so than to have the extra expense and complexity of a separate bottle?

FUNCTIONALITY: The robot is able to do both hard floors and carpets/mats in one operation. It sensors are smart enough to detect carpet/mats and retract the mop heads away automatically until it returns to hard floors. Has always worked flawlessly for us. To assist with vacuuming into tight corners, the spinning brush mounted on the front automatically extends the brush out further on an arm to reach into the corner. Likewise, one of the mop heads will also extend into a corner for more complete cleaning. For tough vacuuming jobs (such as cleaning pet hair from carpets), the “Max” setting works fairly well although some hair from our golden retriever can defy removal. In all fairness, a standard electrical vacuum cleaner would require a couple of passes to lift it too. We have vinyl plank floors and both my wife and I were impressed after a few days of mopping just how shiny and clean they were. It’s really just maintenance now every couple of days to keep them that way. There is, however, one annoying issue we encounter sometimes. We have a coffee table which has legs splayed at approximately 45°. Sometimes, the machine will attempt to climb one of these legs (Ecovacs states the machine will climb obstacles up to 2cm in height) and in doing so lifts its drive wheels off the floor. At this point it will call out for assistance (I haven’t mentioned how talkative it is) and ask to be put back on the floor. Our previous Ecovacs vacuum did the same thing with this table with the difference being after you rescued it, it constantly said it was lost and then had to physically put back on the docking station thus cancelling the job. To the credit of the T50 Omni, it will roam around the area saying it is “recalculating”, find its location and resume duty. We have never experienced a time when it got lost and had to be put back on the station manually. The robot is particularly chatty and fully announces constantly what it is doing at each stage of the various operations it is performing ...although you can adjust voice volume or turn it off completely. Of all the robot vacuum we have previously had, this one has the best battery longevity and only returns to the docking station mid job if you have it set to maximum suction and attempt to clean more than half the house. I feel standard suction will see it clean a medium size house in one go. Even when away from home, you can follow the cleaning progress in the app where a constantly updating “snail trail” shows not only its current location on your rooms map but also where it has been. Spare parts are reasonably priced and cheaper "knock offs" are available from 3rd party sellers. The internal dust bag is single use and will need replacing periodically. All “maintenance” parts have set hours for working until they need replacing or cleaning. The app alerts you to this with sufficient time to order the part in. Ecovacs “gamifies” adjusting settings in the app by awarding you points for doing certain things. Once accumulated, these points can then be used to receive discounts on maintenance parts. Warranty is two years when purchased from an authorised Ecovacs dealer

WHAT I LIKED - * Well set out app that shows realtime updates on cleaning progress along with keeping track on when various parts need to be cleaned or replaced * Does a great job vacuuming and particularly mopping of hard floors

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE - *Poorly detailed instructions where you have to resort to digging through the app (or Youtube videos) to find how to do or set something. * Getting stuck (sometimes) on that coffee table leg

TIPS SUMMARY * When mapping, remove temporary obstructions and block glass at ground level so the robot will not map outside. * White lights on front mean voice control off. Yellow lights means voice control turned on * Put 1/3 white vinegar in the "tray" water tank to prevent smells *

SUMMARY: Both my wife and I have been impressed (particularly my wife) with the performance and functionality of this cleaner. For daily maintenance, the vacuum works well while we have both found the mopping to be particularly impressive. It’s not particularly loud in operation and can be scheduled for regular cleaning jobs. The things I didn’t like are fairly minor overall and so I am happy to give this one a five star rating based on its use.

I purchased the vacuum around 12 months ago, the first 8 or so months went well. Then the problems started. Initially the vacuum started not making it back to the base station under low states of charge. I contacted Ecovacs and was asked to run through a bunch of different procedures that failed to rectify the issue. I sent the vacuum in for… Read more

repairs (by sheer luck I had kept the original box). I was surprised by the quick turn around (around 7 days) Ecovacs replaced the battery and sent it back.

After setting the vacuum up again I was met with the same issue. At this point I asked for a replacement. Ecovacs requested a second chance to repair the vacuum, which I obliged. I was told it would be sent for expedited repair, it took 2 weeks.

After the second repair the vacuum was sent back to me in a different box and was wet.

Again I set the vacuum up, this time I was presented with a different issue, well to be honest I don't know if the first issue was resolved because the vacuum wouldn't clean instead it just wandered aimlessly. I set up the vacuum multiple times remapped the house multiple times just to have it continue to wander aimlessly.

Again I contacted Ecovacs at this point I was told to clean the sensors and reset the vacuum. I did so with the same issues presenting.

At this point I asked for a full refund or a new replacement with full warranty. I was offered a refurbished vacuum with the balance of my existing warranty. Given the issues I had with my unit I was not willing to accept a refurbished unit especially one without a full warranty. At this point Ecovacs offered me a new unit again with the balance of my existing warranty.

Given the issues I had with my vacuum, anything less than a full warranty is unacceptable. So I asked for a full refund as Ecovacs were unwilling to provide me with a full warranty.

At this point Ecovacs offered me a 50% refund as a "gesture of good will". I advised Ecovacs that this was unacceptable and that under Australian Consumer Law I was entitled to remedy of my choosing, which was a full refund of the original purchase price.

Ecovacs got back to me and offered a 70% refund of the purchase price stating that they were taking into consideration that it was no longer a new machine and had provided a nearly a year of service and the value of the product had changed with the release of newer models.

Again this is unacceptable. I have lodged a complaint with consumer affairs. I'd suggest you avoid Ecovacs if you expect them to honor your consumer rights.

Bought the T50 Pro Omni directly from ecovacs.com.au and it was faulty from the start. The battery wouldn't complete a cleaning cycle, it returned to the dock but shut down without charging, it couldn't map my home, and the mop station wouldn't drain — leaving stagnant water that turned foul. An accessory listed in the manual was also missing. I… Read more

requested a refund under Australian Consumer Law, as the product clearly wasn't of acceptable quality. Ecovacs agreed to collect the unit, then failed to attend two scheduled collections. Each time I'd left my security gate open for long stretches, putting my animals at risk. They then tried to redirect me to a repair centre despite my clear refund request. I've had to lodge a bank chargeback to recover my money. Faulty hardware can happen to anyone. What earns the one star is the refusal to simply honour a refund and collect the unit. I wouldn't recommend buying direct from Ecovacs.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have sent this vacuum off TWICE for repair and it has come back twice with the same issue not fixed plus another issue. I have been back and forth with ecovacs and they are not listening or understanding, I have gone to Gold services and the Good guys 3 times now as I want a refund ASAP. I bought it in November 2025 and it has been unused since April 2026. Terrible customer services from everyone involved. Show details

the good people at EcoVacs have gone above and beyond to ensure I am satisfied with my service and product. I now have the correct machine and it is working perfectly . I cannot speak highly enough about the superb level of customer care I have received. And the quality of the machine is top notch. Very happy customer. Show details

Follow-up  · No noise issues, cleans carpet well (I have dog hair and it clears it perfectly). My previous issue was the mop didn’t retract properly when it got to the carpet. But all is resolved now. Excellent customer service.

Combined mop and vacuum is a great feature but i havent been as happy with the performance of this produce compared to my IRobot i7 and Bravaa Jet M6. seem to be getting mopped. Also in the corners there are marks on the floor where the mops are spinning leaving round marks . The vacuum is supposed to recognize and avoid objects including electrical cords. This hasn’t been my experience. I am finding it has tried to eat socks and leads and then the cleaning is aborted. The app is clunky and difficult to navigate. I do love that i don’t have to clean and replace the mops each time a job is done and the drying feature odd also good. No more smelly mops. I am glaf i didn’t pay full price i got this for half price. Would I buy again- probably not

Do not waste your money! Mapping is an absolute disaster, constant issues with water tray, battery never lasts a full vacuum and wash, dust bag full notifications when it's not, wifi connection outdated. So much for me upgrading! Only had this one for 4 months and I'm literally throwing it away and buying a different brand. The only flooring I have is timber and tiles and it can't even cope with that. Show details

Honestly, so far I am impressed. This is exactly what I needed. We have about 350sqm of house and with animals leaving fluff and fur everywhere the ecovacs covers it all while I am at work, saving me hours of cleaning and ensuring I come home to a nice clean floor. Set up was super easy (and fun) it has Done about 5 or 6 runs haven't had to change the bag yet. Can definitely recommend!! Show details ·  1

I purchased this in mid October. Used on tile floors and on small carpeted bedroom. Within a month it started going in circles with an error. I contacted Ecovacs in Australia. They didn't offer a replacement but asked me to send it back for repair. I have now been without a vacuum for nearly a month. Absolutely disgusting product and customer service. I needed to replace my very old robot vacuum which had finally given up the ghost. After a weekend of weighing pros and cons I decided to purchase an ECOVAC. I finally settled upon the Deebot-T50-Pro-Omni because is has 15000pa suction power and was… Read more ·  1

a similar price to the Deebot X5 Pro Omni which only has 12800pa suction power (both were on sale at a well known chain of stores). Who doesn’t want more suction power in a vacuum? The battery run time is up to 4 and ¾ hours according to the site. Once I got it home, the setup was easy including connecting to the home WIFI, as was downloading the app and registering the product. The app is relatively easy to use. First things first, mapping the house once the battery was fully charged, it came with a 75% charged battery, so it didn’t take too long to reach 100%. I had no idea whether it would just map or vacuum while mapping. Happily, it just mapped. It recognised carpets as opposed to hard floors, in my case tiles. Working out how to name the rooms was a little challenging. Frankly the ECOVAC site could provide a lot more assistance around where to go in the app to do this. I let it fully recharge again, then set it to vacuum only on the ‘standard’ setting. It did a 73 m2 area which took 1 hour & 46 minutes had around 60% battery remaining. It does automatically pop back to the 'station' to empty its dust bin into the dust bag. It will audibly tell you that it is returning to do just that. I can't believe how quiet it is, seriously so much quieter than my old robot vacuum. The next day it vacuumed the remaining area of 54 m2 in 1 hour & 42 minutes, this area had more furniture for it to navigate. I let it fully recharge again and tried the mopping function. Not so great, I have a huge area of tiles. If you have only a small area of hard flooring, you may feel it is a worthwhile function for you. It also automatically pop's back to wash the pads. However I really bought it for the vacuum, it is, after all, sold as a vacuum. The height is 5.33mm enabling it to get under furniture my previous robot was too high for. Overall, I am thrilled with its vacuuming performance on both surface types! I recommend this product.

Follow-up  · Pet Hair - I don't have pets, therefore I am unable to comment. Debris - Particles on the hard surfaces are collected easily, however I don't have a lot of mess such as food, sand etc on my floors. There is no issue with it removing debris from carpets either. Room Naming - The room naming was easy. When viewing your map, simply tap on the… Read more

Okay, I wasn’t expecting to love a robot vacuum this much, but this one has honestly been a game changer in our house. Plus I can control it all from my phone, which is perfect when I’m out doing school drop-off or just trying to survive the afternoon. The OMNI station does all the gross jobs too—empties the bin, washes and dries the mop, and even refills detergent. I barely have to think about it. It’s honestly one of those things I didn’t know I needed… until I had it. Total win. This also has a slim design of only 81mm I loved watching the machine map its way through my house and underneath things I didn’t think it could like chairs around my dining table and under bookshelves. It has great suction too and features zero tangle2.0 meaning the brush does not get tangled in things like hair etc. the mop is amazing too Using an AI camera to detect stains, it adjusts water flow and mopping patterns using a dual-crossing motion over targeted areas and automatically re-mopping for thorough stain removal!
