I was at a dead end not being able to get finance to get my family a car. I'm on a visa so almost every place turned me down. I had a terrible experience with Fido Finance. flat-out refused to tell me the interest rate or repayments. I was told it wouldn't be "fair" to give a rate earlier in the process- a ridiculous sales tactic I've never encountered with professional brokers who are actually transparent.

It's now 5 days before I inspect the car. After I had to chase him, bailey claimed the delay was due to the seller not providing info. I checked with the seller directly, who proved via time-stamped messages and calls that bailey hadn't even contacted them until hours after he claimed he had. When bailey finally did speak to the seller, I was told that bailey was condescending and dismissive of them, despite the seller having everything ready as id pre-warned them.

I couldn't even compare Fido's offer because bailey refused to tell me what it was. I ended up going with another company that was professional, honest about timelines, and upfront with the numbers from day one.

To make matters worse, when I informed bailey that I had gone with another company, he tried to claim he was consulting with the same lender and would have had the same outcome. This is hard to believe, given that the other company gave me a confirmed rate during our very first phone call and had the seller paid within 48 hours. Bailey couldn't even give me a ballpark figure after 3 business days of having my documents. It’s clear he was either stalling or just couldn't match the service I found elsewhere.

It's actually quite ironic that their website claims they "move mountains to fund your loan within 24hrs" when my experience was the exact opposite.

Avoid Fido if you want a straightforward, quick turnaround.

with all the relevant info I was concerned about during the process. Fido finance obviously train their staff to get the BEST deal for their customers, not just go with the easiest route. They all say they will get you the best deal, but I found others will go the easiest way for them to seal the deal as quickly as possible that suits them! Kosta from Fido secured me the best option for ‘me’ and genuinely tailored it to ‘my’ needs, even having the lender REWRITE the contract with a slight change that suited me best. I was after an import car, so wasn’t the easiest customer to deal with I’m sure. Without even thinking I would apply for finance, from just a simple enquiry, to being approved and 100% ready to pay and purchase the car, Kosta had me ready to do so in just a couple of days, even with all my questions and phone calls, the whole process was surprisingly simple and smooth. Honestly, I don’t think I would have went ahead with it all if I dealt with anyone other than Kosta, he is an asset to Fido.

however it is important to know that the advertised lowest rate isn't available to everyone even if you believe you have an excellent credit rating. There was also the unexpected discovery that Fido are a fee for service business, which increased the loan amount unexpectedly. This in no way changed my personal experience with James as he did his job to an exceptional standard, however I don't feel that the information on the website is particularly transparent around this fact and could be made more obvious. My understanding, was that they were like most other brokerages, where it is free to the customer and the bank/lender institutions pay commissions. I still believe my overall experience with James as my finance broker was worth the 5 stars, despite these shortcomings of the current business.

Terrible service, with never getting back to you as promised and then only after one’s rings numerous times. The agent didn’t seem to care to much and never put much effort in. Took 5 working days to find out what anyone with loan expertise should have known in one day.

Okay service, poor rates. Search first and be mindful of trusting the marketing and sales tactics – The customer service side was great from my friendly broker and she was patient when I had to change vehicles. details with the competitor their rate would shoot up and it didn't... I even sent an email thanking him and Fido and he didn't even respond which says it all really. Fido were 2% more expensive on a used car loan and the competitor made it much much easier! The dealership were even 1.5% cheaper than Fido's lender so that says it all.

Make sure you do your due diligence and search around first as these reviews seem highly suspicious with a few commenting they're asked to review before the contract is signed.

Bad Experience – While my loan was approved, I note the following points: Fido ask for you to review them PRIOR to finalising your loan, hence the very high star rating. Fido DO NOT make 100% transparent all applicable monthly fees until you receive the final contract with a 'deadline' to sign.
