 AI reviews summary

The overall sentiment for Officeworks is predominantly negative, driven by significant failures in online order fulfilment and a perceived decline in customer service infrastructure. While specific store-level staff members are occasionally praised for their individual helpfulness, these positive experiences are overshadowed by systemic issues, including unreliable stock data, automated phone systems that prevent contact with stores, and a "Price Beat Guarantee" that users claim is frequently bypassed with arbitrary excuses. Recurring reports of lost high-value items and difficult refund processes suggest a notable disconnect between the company’s digital promises and its operational reality.

Pros
  • Exceptional Individual Staff: Multiple reviewers highlighted specific team members (e.g., Kayla at Ballarat, Zoe at Robina, Rachel at Hornsby) who provided patient, professional, and attentive service.
  • Efficient In-Store Printing: When the equipment is functional, some users found the in-store self-service photo printing to be high quality, affordable, and easy to use.
  • Convenient Click & Collect (When Stocked): For simple, low-value items that are physically on the shelf, the click-and-collect process is described by some as fast and seamless.
  • Competitive Printing Rates: Professional bulk printing for items like flyers was noted for being significantly cheaper than specialized competitors while maintaining good quality.
Cons
  • Inaccessible Customer Support: A major point of frustration is the inability to speak to a human; local store numbers redirect to automated messages, and the 1300 help line often involves long wait times or overseas agents who reportedly struggle to resolve complex requests.
  • Unreliable Online Systems: The website frequently glitches during checkout, loses cart items, and displays inaccurate stock levels, leading users to travel to stores for items that are not actually available.
  • Failed Delivery and Fulfilment: Numerous reports detail "next-day" deliveries taking weeks, orders being cancelled without notice, and high-value electronics (laptops/iPads) being lost by couriers or sent to the wrong locations.
  • Restrictive Returns and Warranty: Users frequently complain about a refusal to accept returns on opened items (even if faulty) and a tendency to refer customers to manufacturers for repairs rather than offering replacements for "dead on arrival" products.
Verdict

Officeworks remains a viable option for basic stationery and simple in-store printing, provided the customer can verify stock in person. However, for high-value technology or time-sensitive online orders, the current feedback suggests a high risk of logistical failure and a lack of effective post-sale support.

1 Gareth  · disappointed how a damaged item was handled via there customer care team. Basically tough luck its damaged.
1 Aku  · Officeworks does not accept returns once the package is opened. Even if unused and in same condition as bought. Just be aware of this
5 Paul A  · Big thanks to Deanna from the South Melbourne store for helping me with a laptop charger issue that was stressing me out. She was extremely helpful!
1 Steve  · No phone help. I find this attitude towards customers very arrogant. So we are ordering more online with other stationery companies.
5 Jennifer M.  · No problem at all with my click & collect on line order. Went in to have a look around in store, came back out and it was waiting with the girl.
1 sean i.  · charged my 25.00 delivery on a pair of 50.00 speakers. didnt accept product on one pass. they will be my last call next time i want to order anything on line

I used to love going to Officeworks, so my comments relate to the last 2 years where they have lost their way big time! Over the last 2 years and on multiple occasions I have been unable to purchase high value items that are clearly ticketed on the shelf, or advised as being in stock, only to find at the checkout they dont have the item. Why waste… Read more

my time and in the end my dollars I used to happily give you. On one occasion they bounced me between stores to buy an iPad only to send me back to the original store I started at. Anyway I have decided enough is enough and I will spend my hard earned dollars online with Amazon, so I emailed them twice to ask for assistance to close my business account - well done Officeworks, no response in over 4 weeks. I will never set foot back into an Officeworks Store with such an appalling level of Customer Service!

Officeworks will not stock certain major brands of computer peripherals, instead pushing customers towards brands like Comsol. I have purchased two Comsol PC docks, and both have suffered the same failure. After 1-2 months of use the HDMI ports for additional monitors simply fail and will not work again. I strongly recommend consumers look for other outlets that stock mainstream brands.

Dishonest Manager – I bought a faulty Mac from them and took it back immediately. They looked like they would initiate a procedure to provide me with a new replacement. It turned out that they would only repair it or replace it with refurbished ones. I only found it out from the paperwork they wanted me to sign and when I asked them directly. Then they claimed the… Read more

refurbished ones were the same, still maintained by Apple, and had a warranty. But the price I paid wasn't for a refurbished Mac.

It also takes 2-3 weeks for them to repair. Their manager, [Name Removed] lied that purchasing from other merchants would result in the same process. However, this is not the case. I have talked with Apple. Apple offers new replacements for faulty items purchased from them within three weeks. Additionally, Apple matches prices if they are higher than those of Officework.

I guess all the Officework has the same procedure. But I would appreciate it if I was treated with honesty and respect.

I was less than impressed. Recently I bought a new $800 laptop. That is pretty special for me as I am on a Disability Support Pension and have to make my money stretch. As such, I do not buy a new laptop very often. When I got home I excitedly told my brother about my new laptop. He called me a goose and asked why I had bought a new laptop as my… Read more

current laptop is still ok from his view. I said I was looking to buy a faster laptop as my memory is shot after a number of brain surgeries. A slow laptop means I forget what I am going to write and what I am doing etc when the computer takes too long to type my information out, or the cursor freezes. When I took my current laptop in to show the Officeworks staff person, they suggested a certain laptop. I mentioned why I wanted a new laptop. Specifically, I was hoping to update my current laptop so when the weather warms up I can still use it without it freezing. In general, I need a laptop that is faster than my current laptop. The staff person was nice about things but based on my price limit I think he found a laptop that would meet that budget rather than my specified parameters? Ignorantly, without a support worker with me, I bought the laptop that we were looking at. Excitedly (as you do when you buy a new laptop), I snipped the blue wrapping/holding tape off the new box when I got home and had a quick look. I didn't even take the laptop out of its white inner packaging. On phoning my brother to share my news, he called me a goose and asked why I had bought a new laptop? I have now been told that I can save files to a hard drive to look at later and also use a cooling mat to help keep my laptop cooler in the hotter weather, none of which were mentioned to me at the point of sales. When I returned the laptop (the next day, based on what my brother had told me) I was refused a refund. That gutted me as $800 is a lot of money to be loosing on a purchase that I had made merely one day earlier. That is close to 2 months savings if I do nothing else! I was told the return has to be unopened and in its original packaging. Except for ironically opening the plastic sealed guarantee and loosely opening the box the laptop was sealed in (given there was no mention on the box itself of what was inside the box), the laptop was exactly as I bought it. I had not messed with anything so I asked to speak to the manager. The manageress presented herself and recited the same as what the sales person had about not being able to give me a refund, despite the product not meeting my needs. She suggested that I could forward sell my laptop on Marketplace. I could tell the manageress had no experience with either dementia or brain injuries. I left feeling gutted. Two days later I approached JB HiFi. They were amazing.. and have a return policy. I know where I will be telling my brain injury friends to be shopping in future. It will not be the Ipswich Officeworks store.

Ordered a laptop online. The next day Officeworks cancelled the order without any reason or notice. They claimed the refund was processed immediately when I called, but after two weeks the money is still not back in my account. I was forced to file a chargeback through my bank. Completely unacceptable. My funds have been locked for over two weeks, preventing me from buying the laptop elsewhere. Terrible customer service.

I ordered my two kids’ school booklist items from Officeworks online and chose home delivery. I received an email saying the order would arrive in two boxes. with a list of items too.

I called Officeworks, and they told me I had to collect the remaining items from a Pack & Send collection point. I went there today (16/01/2026 at 3:40 PM), and the staff member told me that if the delivery driver doesn’t have time, they just leave the items there because the next day they have more deliveries to do. I honestly didn’t know what to say.

I don’t want this to happen again. What should I do — should I avoid selecting home delivery?

I ordered a couple of years with OfficeWorks, but I used the click and collect.

I received email on waking. 'no returns on software'. No review. No customer service. No Justice. Simply ai careless throwing customers away. because they already had too much work, and refused to help or offer any alternative solution despite my urgent requirement.

This was extremely disappointing. If a store cannot meet the turnaround time advertised on the website, why is it being promoted as a 2-day pickup service? Advertising one timeframe and then refusing to provide it is misleading and creates false expectations for customers.

answer phones apparently and direct you to the website. So I emailed.... the reply we are currently experiencing high demands and cannot currently respond. Next the online service chat. Ai bot first then team member. Sorry that is from a third party supplier and we have no control. "Its your name on the website that sold the chair?" Yes but....Again complete deniability. Reported to consumer affairs at this point. Went to tracking page another delivery date change, but down the bottom it said cancel this order with a phone number. Rang the phone number and pretty sure the person was not located in Australia. I was very respectful, just wanted to cancel the order. The lady had a serious talking over the top attitude and would not let me speak. When I finally got a word in asking for a refund. I was told I could not cancel the order, that was with the warehouse. I explained the number was for order cancellations, her response ...so how did you get this number. Long story short, after trying to say that I wanted to cancel the order and get a refund I was told she can't do that. My frustration by this point was fuming. Contacted Consumer Affairs for the follow up and was told by them to do a charge back. So that's what i am currently in the process if doing. This whole experience has been a nightmare. You have a well known business selling products they dont have but are supplied and shipped by a 3rd party. They deny accountability. They offer no help, regardless that's it their name tied to the product.

Do yourself a favour, shop elsewhere, and I could have given a -5 score i would have.

worked. When I contacted Officeworks for assistance, neither the store staff nor the managers at the Canning Vale and Jandakot stores were able to provide clear guidance or explain the process properly. One of my major concerns is that I was required to provide my credit card details as part of the transaction. Money was then deducted from my card without my clear understanding or consent. Instead of a refund or explanation, I received Officeworks gift vouchers for the same amount. At no point was this process clearly explained by either Officeworks or MooreUp staff. My biggest issue is that Officeworks should not be promoting or partnering with third-party services if their own staff cannot explain how those services work. Customers should be given clear, transparent information before providing payment details or proceeding with a transaction. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. I would not recommend the MooreUp trade-in service based on my experience. Rating: 0/5.
