Philips Series 5000 DE5205/70

Don't Waste Your Money – The Customer Satisfaction response from Philips when I complained about this product which was still under warranty in fact brand new, is nothing short of appallingly pathetic. Don't waste your money in buying this product - there are other options. Sure this product does what it's supposed to do, it removes moisture from the atmosphere (in my daughter's room - she has a disability and wanted to improve the air quality) BUT it is almost impossible to be in the same room when the unit is working because it creates so much heat. Before turning it on the room temperature was 24 degrees Celsius, after only one minute the temperature had risen to 26 degrees and after 2 hours of use it had risen to a ridiculous 33 degrees - way too hot to be comfortable. As my daughter cannot drive I requested Philips to collect the unit for dispatch to an Authorised Repairer but Philips refused meaning I had to carry a 14 Kg item to and from the Repairer and I am well over 70. The repairer said that the high temperature was normal and within specifications. I asked Philips to refund my daughter's money but they have refused, their justification being that the unit meets all of the requirements of the ANZ Standards (whatever they might be). Nowhere in any of the advertising literature, nor on the Philips product website nor in the Owner's Manual is there any reference to the unit producing the kind of temperatures that have been recorded. In my opinion this product is not fit-for-purpose. I intend complaining to the State Dept. of Consumer Affairs and Fair Trading and may seek legal advice. There are numerous other complaints on the internet about this product producing excessive heat - check out this product review website:- https://www.appliancesonline.com.au/review/philips-de5205-70-series-5000-2-in-1-air-dehumidifier/
