Product Failed Early, Warranty Refused, and Disappointing Customer Support I would not recommend the SPACETALK kids’ watch based on my experience and I wish that there was an option for 0 or minus ratings. I purchased the watch from JB Hi-Fi, and within only a few months of normal use it began to fail. I returned the device for assessment under… Read more
warranty, but SPACETALK or JB HIFI refused to repair or replace it, claiming the watch had suffered water damage.
This was extremely disappointing given that the watch is marketed as water resistant (IP67). To the best of my knowledge, the watch was never exposed to water beyond normal day-to-day use by a child. I believe the product did not perform as advertised, and I strongly disagree with the warranty decision.
What made the experience even more frustrating was the customer support. Every interaction felt like I was communicating with a bot rather than a person genuinely trying to understand the situation. Regardless of the questions or concerns I raised, I repeatedly received the same generic responses referring to the watch’s IP67 laboratory testing, with little acknowledgement of the actual circumstances of my case. It felt as though the goal was to repeat a scripted explanation rather than investigate the issue.
I also felt there was a strong emphasis on closing my support request as quickly as possible instead of working towards a fair resolution. At no point did I feel that my concerns were being properly considered or that there was any willingness to look beyond the standard response.
For a product that stopped working within such a short period of normal use, I expected the company to stand behind its product. Instead, I was left with a watch that no longer works, a rejected warranty claim, and a very disappointing customer service experience. They are now asking for another $99.00 to refurbish it.
I am currently exploring my rights under Australian Consumer Law regarding products that fail within a short period of normal use. Based on my experience, I would encourage prospective buyers to carefully consider alternative brands with a stronger reputation for product reliability and after-sales support.
Functionally, the watch is good. Maybe a little on the slow side. Unfortunately, less than one month after starting to use the watch, the sim stopped working. This was a result of sweat ingress causing corrosion in the SIM enclosure. When contacting the support services we were swiftly told (basically) that the claimed IP67 rating was in lab… Read more
conditions and real world conditions may not be representative. I asked for a full refund. Refund was denied due to it being outside the 30-day return period. The real shame is that we bought this watch after being so impressed by the one we bought for our other child. The first watch failed in a similar way about a week after I’d ordered the second one. At least I didn’t pay the full years subscription up front on the first one!

Failing to honor warranty, then try to upsell for a refurbd device doesnt sit right. I've lodged a complaint with them, to get it escalated and hopefully a better outcome.
Follow-up · Update: After a significant amount of time (several weeks), via email, a replacement watch was sent at no cost. Coincidentally, the first proactive response from Spacetalk was later the same day after I posted the review here. My opinion is that the watch failed due to not meeting the quality standards it was sold on- IP68 water resistance. At the… Read more

DO NOT BUY!! Purchased this watch for my son late January 2025 along with a yearly plan at a cost of $500+ (watch and plan), two weeks later "no sim" appears. I opened the case and found the sim and contacts on the watch had corroded. Contacted SpaceTalk and was told to send the product to repairer (at my own cost). Watch was returned "repaired"… Read more
the report stated that the bottom casing which includes the internal hardware had been replaced. 2 days later the sound on the watch stops working, can not hear sound at all including voice when actively on a call. The watch would ring which you can see on the screen but no sound is played and when the call is answered there is not sound (voice) from either party. I emailed customer support on 4th March 2025 and received a response 2 days later asking for a video of the issue, I sent this straight away and to this day have not received a response. During the 2 day wait for a response the watch developed a new fault where the watch turns on and off repeatedly until eventually the battery dies. I emailed SpaceTalk about this fault as well and still have not received a response. A further email has been sent to them on the 11th March 2025 and I still have not received a response.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. I wish I had of done my research prior to purchasing this watch through SpaceTalks website.
When attempting to set up the watch customer service replied straight away, as soon as there are problems they disappear. The next step is reporting this scam of a company to the ACCC.

First watch failed after exposure to light water (much less than what the IP67 rating suggests), and after receiving no support from Spacetalk we made the (wrong) decision to purchase another. and a range of connection and location issues along the way. These include - huge lags on current location (not good when you're trying to determine where your child is); watch sometimes failing to turn on; atrocious (read: non-existent) customer service; sluggish and inaccurate watchface controls; clunky, cheap build quality; mediocre battery life...Spacetalk has caused us countless hours of stress and frustrution, not to mention sunk costs, with our only option to cut our losses and move to a better platform.

Unreliable product and the worst customer service. DO NOT BUY as you will be chasing them without any resolution to the problem. The watch has been in one of their repair centre for 4 months now and the customer support personnel have no clue whatsoever. The product is not robust and I regret not checking the product review here. Another frustrated customer here and I just wanted to let others know to save their money. Show details
Do not purchase! Spacetalk used to allow you to add trusted contacts to watch to allow communication with trusted contacts; landline, mobile, or other watch. outbound calls, no SOS function, no tracking availability. Support website advised unpairing and reset, then days later sent email advising not to unpair... Spacetalk is in breach of Australian Consumer Guarantee. Under the Australian Consumer Law, goods must: Be fit for purpose as originally sold Match the description and features advertised at the time of purchase Not undergo manufacturer-driven changes that remove or limit core functionality Because the forced update removed a core communication feature that the watch originally had, the product now: No longer performs as described, Is no longer fit for purpose, and Is substantially different from what was paid for. This constitutes a major failure under the ACL.
If you have a spacetalk watch, please contact the ACCC. Put in a complaint.
If I could give a 0 star I would. I tried to register the sim for service (spent $165 on the 365 day plan) and it seems to not be working at all. Kept telling me there's an error after the step where I am verified. I tried doing this on the website too and it gets to the stage where it asks for my card details and then will not let me continue.… Read more
This was supposed to be a gift my son's birthday next week and it seems all I am getting is frustration. It should not be this hard to set up a smart watch!
I returned the watch to JB HI-FI for a full refund and "contacted" Space Talk for a refund of the SIM card which was $164.99. I say "contacted" as their AI Chatbot / 'Livechat' doesn't work and keep you in a constant loop saying its connecting you to a human operator (which it doesn't). No response via email and phone number is either disconnected or asks you to leave a message.
I went and purchased a different brand watch altogether as I need it sorted before my son's birthday.
I’ve not activated the sim or even been able to use their product/service and Spacetalk have completely ignored all my attempts to contact them. I have asked for a refund on paypal, and waiting on a response.
Absolutely appalling! I am a bit baffled that JB HI-FI still sell this product, given the lack of support and not friendly to use.

water damage. This outcome was extremely disappointing given that the watch is marketed as water resistant. To the best of my knowledge, the watch was not exposed to water beyond normal day-to-day use by a child. As a result, I feel the product did not perform as advertised and I strongly disagree with the warranty decision. What makes this even more frustrating is that the watch failed so soon after purchase, yet the company declined to stand behind its product. The warranty process was difficult, the customer service was disappointing, and my concerns were not adequately addressed. In my view, this is not the level of quality or support consumers should expect when purchasing a children’s smartwatch. We purchased a Spacetalk Adventurer 2 4G watch in December 2025 for $209. Less than six months later, the watch stopped registering the SIM card. daily activities, including playing tennis in light rain. The watch was never submerged in water. We were then offered a refurbished replacement watch for $180, with no guarantee that the same issue would not occur again. We politely declined, as we do not see the value in spending more money on a product that appears unable to withstand normal everyday use by a child. Adding to our disappointment, we had also prepaid for a full year of data service for the watch, meaning we have incurred further costs on a device that has become unusable after less than six months. This experience has been extremely disappointing given the watch's intended purpose as a children's device and the relatively short period of use before failure.

Don't waste your money! Not only has the watch stopped working, the spacetalk customer service has been very disappointing with no resolution reached in 3 months!. 1 metre of water for 30 minutes - this is a lie! We have been trying for over 3 months to get a replacement watch, but spacetalk has continued to refuse, and are trying to make us pay for assessment/repair. The company have said:
"As part of our warranty terms, water damage—even from splashes, rain, or perspiration—is not covered, as our watches are water-resistant (IP67) but not fully waterproof".
So beware - THE WATCH CAN BECOME WATER DAMAGED FROM SPLASHES, RAIN OR PERSPIRATION.
Another frustration is that over 3 months of our purchased 12 month SIM plan has been wasted, which has been a second waste of our money. I have tried leaving reviews directly on the spacetalk website, but somehow they don't seem to show up...... interesting.

been helpful. They keep us in a loop of delaying us and asking questions and not resolving the issue properly and they keep suggesting it could be due to water (this is not the problem and this is also what I have read in countless online reviews, is their stock standard response when people's watches do not work. The watch is not fit for purpose, clearly has a fault, and needs to be replaced. The customer service seems to be hopeless and we cannot get a reasonable outcome. We want a replacement watch or a refund.

Do not buy this product!! This company has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, as well as the product not being fit for purpose. location tracking, and eventually the microphone failing altogether.
I contacted customer service in November 2025, and five months later the issues are still unresolved. Support is handled entirely by AI chatbots that do not understand the problems and seem focused on closing cases if you do not respond within hours. Requests to speak with a human have gone nowhere, as support is limited to chat and email only.
The final issue raised was the microphone not working. I was told that “liquid damage” had occurred, based solely on a photo I provided, and the company accused my child of submerging the watch. The watch has only been used normally, and after reading many similar reviews, this appears to be a standard response used to avoid responsibility for manufacturing faults and instead charge for repairs.
If a watch cannot withstand normal everyday use and weather conditions, it is not fit for purpose. I would not recommend this product and in particular, this company to anyone.
Customer Service is lacking. Takes them a long time to reply. My issue has been ongoing for 3 days now. We live in a remote location so our only choice for phone service is Telstra. paying an $80 fee. Can't transfer plans from the old watch. The screens are definitely now crack/smash proof. The battery in this new one lasts less than 24hours. With our old adventurer we found the app/tracking actually drops out quite often. When you can't get it to refresh it makes tracking the child difficult. I'd recommend avoiding the whole system.

charged me via an auto-renew and I then asked to cancel the plan at the end of the period and they cancelled it straight away and then couldn't reactivate the number. The customer service and experience is terrible. They saw no issues with the longevity of the bands, and made an absolute mess of porting over and then cancelling the number. Attempted to tell me that any cancellation was non-refundable until I became 'frustrated' and then best they said they could do was provide refund but then left in limbo as child had no mobile. Had to try to resolve the issue via chat function (as no readily available customer service number on their Web FAQs) and was waiting an minimum of 15-20 minutes for a response to each sentence!
Watches don't work or charge, after sales service is terrible. 4 months after we sent it in (at our expense and only 4 months old) we received a new watch At the same time ST have charged my account $165 without consent for what I assume is an annual SIM when I had already paid an annual fee with over 6 months remaining. I think it is one of the worst products I have ever bought. Stay away from it! Unfortunately, I was in the shop without having the chance to read the reviews, and I fell into the trap. less than half and that's only after 6 hours of the watch being mostly in idle (since I had disconnected all its functions except for the calls 2. Misleading and confusing subscription. Despite the subscription saying around $10 per month, we were charged $17 per month. 3. The app is trash, and I am very lenient. Almost every single feature of the app on my phone, where I paired my kid's watch, was either crashing or saying that some error occurred. I am not exaggerating, almost every single feature. 4. The new app is... worse than the previous. They have updated their app (I presume because the old one was malfunctioning), and then all the contacts were lost, the watch was unable to pair with the app, and the menu was confusing. Honestly, I don't know what they were thinking. 5. No customer support. If you want to contact someone and speak to a real person, well... good luck! There is no such option, and you will end up talking to an AI chatbot. At least, the chatbot managed to guide me on how to cancel the subscription because that was the next thing I did after a lot of frustration.
If you want to buy your kid a watch, go and grab a cheap one from China for one-fifth of the price and get something that works. Is not perfect, but at least better than this overpriced failure.
The latest update has rendered our childs watch basically useless.
