most of the year when its above 30deg it works ok. Not that you really need much hot water during those 6 months of the year. Around mid may every single year. Every morning I hear "There is no hot water again". Every night "There is no hot water again" From my wife and two young kids.
For all the emails and phone calls I have made to try and rectify the problem. The only attempt to do so was to send a plumber out to reset some thermostatic something or rather in the software which did nothing at all.
The only way I have to ensure there is any hot water, is to go out twice a day and make sure it is forced into the on position in either hybrid or hybrid 1 mode.
The 15 year old Saxon this unit replaced probably didnt even get looked at twice in 15 years. Yet here I am baby sitting this POS appliance twice every single day to ensure the missus and kids can have a hot shower when they want one.
All these pics are after the system has run all day long consuming between 6-10kw/h. Considering the old system used around 9kwh per day and we were told this new system would be around 2.5kwh.....
The company that did the installation did a stellar job I might add, Could not fault their workmanship and they tried to assist as much as they could when we started having issues. But Im not going to continue wasting their time trying to rectify an issue with the product itself. The only real option we have going forward is to move to an IStore or go back to a traditional HWS.

department and several weeks of delays before a new unit was installed under warranty. I had asked for my money back instead, but that apparently was not possible. Twelve months on (almost to the week) and the second unit has failed and requires replacing. My understanding is the the WWK series are discontinued and being replaced by the SPH-0 series. I asked if I could pay to have the new series installed but was told that was not possible and so now here we are waiting for a week without hot water for a discontinued hot water unit that will most likely fail again. I would never recommend Stiebel Eltron, the poor quality of the system is just one aspect, but a company culture that is not customer focussed is the real nail in the coffin.

it has been phenomenal. Supplying hot water for a large family usually pushes systems to their limits, but the 420L capacity handles peak morning and evening routines without breaking a sweat. It heats up quickly, runs quietly, and having a high-grade 2205 stainless steel cylinder means no sacrificial anodes to replace or ongoing tank maintenance to worry about. The R290 refrigerant and low power draw also make it a breeze to run off our solar during the day. A massive thank you to Tye Clark and the team at Same Day Hot Water. Tye made the entire process seamless—his communication was clear, honest, and prompt, turning around a fast quote and having the installation booked for the very next day. He went well above and beyond to look after us and get the job done properly. If you have a large family or want a premium, zero-maintenance heat pump, the Omni X 420L is top-tier, and I cannot recommend Tye and Same Day Hot Water highly enough

which Rheem don't seem to manage well. On mine the welding on the heater flange is VERY poor, causing it to fail and leak just on the 7 year warranty (I don't think 7 years is awesome for a tank with wires connected to it - I've had gas ones that have done 4 times that). So it's not inherently terrible - if you get one that was made by the good welder it would be great, but how would you know?

Envirosun HP Plus Heat Pump

with the recommendation of the installer and relied on their good reputation that this heat pump would be suitable. It is not suitable for our needs despite the fact that it should do what we need it to when we need it to do so. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 young children. Generally, the adults shower in the morning and the kids shower in the evening. When the install was complete we were handed the details to download the app and adapt the heat pump settings to suit our family. We need the heat pump to heat during the day when electricity is both cheapest and solar is highest 9am-4pm, and then a top up heat is required overnight. We programmed the heat pump to come on at 1am-5am so that we are using the off peak electricity rates and guarantee a morning hot shower. We programmed the heat pump to do exactly that. For the most part this worked HOWEVER, it did not work consistently and you should not have to check the water temperature before every shower. Some mornings there would be no hot water and some evenings there would be no hot water. We called the installer and after a $254 visit (this is within 6 weeks of install) they told us that because I had set the timer to "random times" this was not considered a heat pump fault. They reset the heat pump to eco mode and that was that. Eco mode means the heat pump is heating during the day which is of course ideal until you have 2 showers happening at 5-7pm. We need that 2nd overnight top up heat cycle. So i reset the time to suit our needs as it suggests we should do in the instructions. Again, it worked for the most part but would randomly not reheat. Having received the bill for the first visit I was very reluctant to be charged again and the installer recommended I speak directly with the Envirosun company. We spoke to a man at the company and he was really helpful in troubleshooting what was going on and totally understood why we need the 2 heating cycles. None of his troubleshooting or suggestions fixed the problem and our own troubleshooting determined that power cuts no matter how short, were interrupting the settings so a reset was required each time we have a power cut. We now know that power cuts require a reset however the problem continued even without power cuts. 20 degree showers at 630am and 28degree showers at 5pm. The heat pump is now set to AUTO which means it inevitably ends up heating during peak hour in the mornings and evenings. After extensive research, this is EXACTLY what i wanted to avoid. The AUTO function of course means that we have hot water but it is not taking advantage of the warmer midday times and that becomes a big problem in winter when we are trying to reduce our electricity bill. Absolutely would not recommend this heat pump at all. We were going to go for the top of the range but just could not justify the cost as is was more than double what we paid for this heat pump. Sadly, you absolutely get what you paid for on this model and we would not suggest going down this route. The 3rd party app is not great and gives no heat pump performance data, just the water temperature. We would go back to instant gas hot water in a heart beat and the cost savings for water heating are just not there. This was not a good decision in retrospect and we are extremely disappointed. We live in Adelaide.

Australian environment. This unit has failed twice - the first within the warranty period (a faulty seal and heating element) and the second just outside (but still covered by consumer law) being a faulty sensor.
The good news is the service department is responsive and they have a local plumber who can get to the unit quickly. But make sure you have those contact details handy. The first time this unit failed, it took three days for my plumber and the plumbing wholesaler to track down how to get repairs under way.
Note that my unit is now five years old. I hope that the current generation has addressed the quality issues.

After a follow-up call to customer service they contacted service department to determine when service could be be arranged and was told the service could be arranged tomorrow. morning to heat and an hour in the evening before we normally have showers. Rest of the day we dont need hot water do it dosnt need to work.
Found out after 6months of use that it draws 3kw an hour in the antibacterial cycle once a week if settings are below 62 degrees celcius to prevent salmonella etc. Ok, fair enough we are on tank water so that is not a bad thing. Bad thing was it almost always tended to start thus cycle for up to 3hrs using 3kw an hour during peak time at night. We have a 15kw solar setup initially making on average 80kw a day, but with no way to run this antibacterial setting during the day when we are making 13+ kw an hour was not saving us cash. Instead it almost always started at the peak hour time.
Read about the non negotiable setting time bypass if we set the heater temp up to 65C, that it wont run the antibacterial cycle weekly. But it still does run the cycle monthly.
Fair enough, but it is still running this cycle anywhere from late afternoon to middle of the night. Now we have had a 50kwh battery installed this means the thermann is robbing us of around 9kw of battery 95 percent of the time when the sun has gone out with no way to control this.
This has irked me now to write this, as we are now trying to live off grid. With winter innthe bush a heater is necessary using quite abit of battery. One EV car & cooking etc at night runs the battery fairly low as it is, let alone a hotwater heater with a mind of its own robbing us of that extra 9kw of battery leaving us with bugger all to warm the house up in the frosty mornings.
So does this heater work? YES
Is this heater app adjustable? YES
Does this heater allow you to run that all important antibacterial cycle when the sun is in full bloom? NO.
Bad design from something as simple as an app option to do this.
I still cant figure out why it only runs this cycle mostly after the sun has gone out. If there is a powercut, the thermann will be the first thing to be switched off at the meter box as we dont need something stealing our power when we need it most without our permission.
Thermann fix this flaw please, and i’ll give you the 5 stars. Otherwise we wont be going with another one with such a bad energy wasting flaw you cannot control.

reliability, but unfortunately that has not been my experience.
After looking into the issue, I have found that many other customers have reported premature component failures as well. A hot water system is a significant investment, and I would expect it to last far longer than four years before experiencing major problems.
Rheem has built its brand on quality, but based on my experience, the product has fallen well short of those expectations. I hope Rheem takes these concerns seriously and improves the reliability of its products moving forward.
Update 10/06/2026:
I contacted your Customer Service team last Friday regarding my hot water system issue. During the conversation, I was advised that the call-out fee for a Rheem service technician would be approximately $300, which did not include any further investigation, labour, or replacement parts. As my hot water system is only four years old and only the cylinder remains under warranty, I would have been required to cover these additional costs myself. Unfortunately, this was beyond my budget, and I had no option but to decline the service.
As a result, I engaged a local plumber who was able to restore the hot water system and get it operating again. However, he was unable to identify the underlying cause of the fault, explaining that his investigation was limited to the scope of his expertise and the information available at the time.
In the meantime, I have also raised my concerns through ProductReview. Unfortunately, the outcome remains unchanged: the costs associated with having the unit investigated by Rheem are significant, cannot be determined in advance, and ultimately fall entirely on the customer. It appears that Rheem accepts no responsibility beyond the two-year warranty period for the components most likely to fail.
The hot water system is only four years old, and the need for a detailed investigation to determine the cause of the failure raises serious concerns about its reliability. A reasonable consumer would expect a quality hot water system to provide many more years of dependable service before experiencing a significant fault of this nature.
It is therefore extremely disappointing that a product marketed as a quality, reliable system has failed so prematurely, while the customer is left to bear the cost and uncertainty of diagnosing the problem. My experience has left me with very little confidence in the durability of Rheem products or in the level of support provided once the initial warranty period has expired.
