The Aquatech Heat Pump is generally well-received by consumers seeking an energy-efficient alternative to traditional gas or electric hot water systems. Users frequently highlight its ability to integrate with solar setups for low-cost operation, consistent hot water delivery, and a compact design. While minor inconveniences regarding the mobile app and occasional connectivity quirks are noted by a subset of reviewers, the overall sentiment remains positive, supported by competitive pricing and responsive technical assistance.
Got my Aquatech heat pump installed recently and I'm really happy with it so far. Very quiet and heats up quickly, Love the smart app. Installation team was professional and quick. great product and value for money. Recommended! Show details
Our new Aquatech Dynamic X8 water heater is great. Plenty of hot water for our household, even on early winter mornings. It seems to provide slightly less pressure than our old gas water heater, but I have heard a similar comment from many people who have swapped to heat pump units. Very happy with the unit. Works perfectly as advertised, but lacks a built in wall mount to prevent tipping. My installer had to use a generic strap brace to secure it, which ended up scuffing the outer shell of the tank. Great performance, but minor design flaw.

Extremely happy with the AquatechX8 heat pump hot water service. I recently had the Aquatech Dynamic X8 heat pump hot water service installed and I couldn’t be happier with the whole experience. From the initial consultation through to the installation, everything was explained clearly and the process was handled professionally. Competitively… Read more
priced, The new heat pump is working beautifully, and I’m really pleased with how quiet and efficient it is. It’s great knowing I’ve made an energy-efficient choice for my home, and I’m already seeing the savings on my energy bill. The app is easy to navigate, l have it on timer so it’s on during the day to make the most of our solar, and l can easily switch from one mode to another depending on the situation. I would definitely recommend the Aquatech Dynamic X8 to anyone considering a heat pump hot water system. Excellent service from start to finish!
We had the Aquatech Dynamic /X8 installed a week ago ( Due to our 18 yrs old Dux Prodigy 3 gas hot water heater failed ).The noise of this new unit is acceptable for us ( Tips: If possible, avoid installing units near bedrooms, windows etc ). There isTime Setting to Turn the unit ON and OFF. Our plumber did the settings for us and we just leave… Read more
it. The wifi Tuya app is useful to check water temperature, other settings etc. It has 5 yrs warranty plus 2 yrs extended warranty with Product Reviews is an added bonus. We are happy and comfortable with this Aquatech Dynamic/X8 heat pump.
Installed the DYNAMIC/X8 to replace an ageing gas system for a 4-person household (1 bathroom). A few weeks in and it's performing well. Solar integration has been excellent — running it in STANDARD mode with a 09:00–15:00 timer window, and it consistently pulls zero grid power during that time, confirmed twice now via a dedicated smart meter on… Read more
the unit's own circuit. Recovery from a big draw (e.g. a long shower) to full temperature typically takes under 2.1kWh, which matches the manual's stated COP figures well.
One thing worth knowing for new owners: the tank stratifies as expected, so the display can show a much lower temperature than what's actually coming out the tap after heavy usage — not a fault, just how storage tanks work, and the tempering valve keeps delivery safe regardless.
Also used HYBRID+ mode a couple of times to top the tank up to 70°C on strong solar days — worked exactly as described, no issues, and gave useful extra buffer.
Copes well with demand so far, no temperature complaints, and being able to time it around solar generation has made a real difference to running cost.
I had my Aquatech DYNAMIC/X8 heat pump installed just over a month ago by Powrhouse who provided the best quote for me at the time. I found them on Google and was impressed with the fair reviews they have for a range of heat pump products from different brands. Also, I was very happy with how quickly they responded to my enquiries and how helpful… Read more
they were with applying for the rebate. Over the past few weeks with this Aquatech DYNAMIC/X8 heat pump, I think I made a very good choice, again, thanks to the reviews by Powrhouse. I set it in the Hybrid1 mode, which brings the water temp to 70°C. For the past month in Melbourne when the outside temp was often around 12°C, it normally took 4-6 hours to heat up to 70°C (8-10°C every hour). I program it to start at 11am and switch off when water temp is 70°C (just one cycle a day). We have a family of four and we have never run out of hot water since we had it. We used to have a gas water heater which was the only gas appliance in my house. It cost us $70-90/month for gas. Now, there is no more gas bills and the electricity bill does not seem to change much (we have free electricity 11am-2pm). So if this Aquatech DYNAMIC/X8 heat pump last more than the warranty period, I would be super happy. Just one minor think, the control app seems not to work if there are two many "scenes". Maybe they cancel each other out. So I had to keep them to the minimal.
Wasn’t sure what to expect from the heat pump but was recommended it from a friend and also the installers. Was pleasantly surprised by the result. It has been absolutely fantastic. My hot water has never been hotter, it arrives to my bathroom and kitchen quicker and has met all out hot water needs. The set up was super easy and I get to heat my water at times that suit my energy providers plan options. Show details
After looking at several different brands, I chose the Aquatech X8 because its design seemed to take in a few of the maintenance concerns I had with heat pumps. Its operation has been excellent. I really like the app that I use to program the unit’s operation to maximise efficiency and we’re enjoying the results in the shower. It’s also a good looking unit that sits easily down the side of the house and it’s reasonably quiet in its operation. Show details
Early days, but the X8 has been perfect for our needs, it will be interesting to see if there are any problems in the coming years. The X8 sits outside between our master bedroom and kitchen window, yet it is very quiet. It's very easy to set up timers on the app. We time the X8 to run during the middle of the day and there's plenty of hot water for a bath in the evening and showers in the morning. Show details
Our Aquatech Dynamic X8 was installed about 4 weeks ago, it is performing very well and keeps up to our expectations. Will recommend this unit to our friends and family. Show details

We have this unit installed for just over 1 week. I am very happy with the unit so far. Noise level is not an issue, I can hear it when in the yard but once inside the house, I could not really hear it. I run my during solar generation period and it does not consume a lot of energy but it does take 4-6 hours to heat up the tank depending on what… Read more
the tank temperature is at the start of the day. I am in the middle of winter at the moment, so I guess this is the worse case scenario but it's handling the cold weather just fine.
The insulation of the tank is very good, there is hardly any temperature lost due to cold ambient temperature outside.
You can control the heating schedule on the unit itself or via the Tuya app. Both are pretty easy to operate. Aquatech recommends that the scheduling should be done directly on the unit and not via the Tuya app. The Tuya App should be used for viewing purely because if the internet is down when the schedule is suppose to start or end, then this event will not triggered because the schedule is stored on the Tuya server. And you should not schedule both on the Tuya app and directly on the unit as this might conflict with each other. I hope this help as I did spend sometime exploring this.
Had the system installed less than a week ago, it is performing well so far. Nice hot water in the shower, delivered faster than the old instantaneous hot water system we had, so less waiting and wasting of water. The water reheat cycle seems fast enough, considering it is the middle of winter in Victoria. When heating, the condenser fan noise is… Read more
quiet, but there is another rattly sound which is a little unpleasant when standing very close. The wifi and mobile app are handy to keep an eye on the tank temperature, while getting used to the new system. I don't like the adverts in the mobile app though, makes it feel a bit cheap and nasty. The unit/installation looks nice and neat, better than some other brands offerings.
Help to save energy and bill, happy with it! The installation went smooth, great job. Show details

impressive features is how energy-efficient it is. The 268-litre capacity is generous, and yet the unit heats up quite fast, recovering enough hot water even after heavy usage in a few hours. The system integrates well with solar PV, allowing me to schedule heating during times when I have excess solar output. That means I’m using more “free” energy rather than drawing from the grid.
Follow-up · Installation was hassle free and I haven't had a need to adjust settings since install, still set in eco mode. However we have noticed a small pressure drop on the hot water side
We had the Aquatech Dynamic X8 installed by Same Day Hot Water. I chose the Aquatech unit for it's competitive price, solid build, non-sacrificial anode and very positive reviews. After just under 2 weeks of operation I can safely say, I'm very… Read more
happy with the choice. The unit is installed outside our bedroom, but thanks to the low noise level from the heat pump, it's not really noticeable when running. We have the unit set to ECO mode (recommended for a small number of users, in our case 2) and the heating cycle is only running once a day for around 2 hours. The Tuya app is easy to set up and very useful for monitoring tank temperature. This unit replaced a gas storage HW system and my wife was very concerned that we'd be running out of hot water. However, we've only ever experienced a consistent supply of nice hot water, so yet another big tick for the unit. I can highly recommend Heat Pump technology, and the Aquatech product, and the energy and cost savings that come with it
Follow-up · After around 6 weeks of operating, I'm still very happy with the Aquatech Dynamic X8. Energy usage is very low with the compressor only running for around 2 hours per day (so only 2kWh so under $1 a day). The app is handy, but once you've set up the mode and operating hours, it really is only for checking tank temperature etc. But still nice to… Read more
Excellent changeover from gas – Installation was very professional and our hot water supply has been excellent from the outset. Water temperatures have been consistent and suitable to our needs. Show details
Follow-up · My original rating of Exellent remains. Saved money on gas bills. Would highly recommend this product.

We had our Aquatech DYNAMIC/X8 installed in May 2026 it replaced our old Gas hot water service. We brought the unit through Powrhouse who organised all the tradesmen needed to do the installation and removal of old hot water system, and a good job was done by all. The DYNAMIC/X8 is good we run it during the day because we have solar panels and… Read more
have always had plenty of hot water for the next morning but there are only 2 people in the house. The only problem I've had so far is with Tuya app which you can use to controls the unit. John S
It’s been 8 months since we’ve been using heat pump .. pleasantly surprised at how efficient it is.. the settings to run the heat pump is easy to use .. not as expensive as some of the other heat pumps out there .. Given how much it costs it’s definitely good value for money .. Show details
I have had this heat pump hot water system for over a year now and I am happy with it. I use the timer feature to heat at off peak times and therefore it is very cost-effective. Overall it is much better than the old gas unit it replaced.

Update: finally Aquatech agreed and they removed the heatpump, the local plumbing company who helped me lot also refunded me less than what I paid. I didn’t consent for rebate because of fan noise. “New way Plumbing” is the name of the company lbomg company, beware of them as . very minimal. I should have gone with Rheem from the beginning.
A Masterclass in Buyer's RemorseI replaced a dead, reliable gas instantaneous system with this "cutting-edge" electric heat pump. Best decision ever if you love paying double the price for lukewarm water and a fan that sounds like a jet engine taking off in your yard.Since I have solar and a 22kW BYD battery, I thought I’d be clever and save the planet. Instead, I saved myself from ever enjoying a hot shower again. I also got the added bonus of paying an electrician extra to wire up a new RCD just to power this expensive garden ornament.Trying to get rid of it has been a seamless, flawless experience. I called their 1300 support line, pressed 2 for technical support, and the automated system told me it was an "invalid key". Truly top-tier engineering right there.Currently begging my installer to rip this dodgy masterpiece out and put in a Rheem. If you want a noisy, lukewarm headache that costs twice as much as it should, this is the company for you.
App instructions provided doesn't match what's shown on my phone. Emailed support but never got a response. Unit has been running for 2 months with no issues. Family of 3 adults and 1 baby. I heat it once during the 3 hours of free electricity and a further 1 hour on solar. On most days it lasts to the next heat cycle. Somedays it drops below 40 degrees so I have set a scene to reheat when that happens. This is during winter usage. Show details
Not as hot as the 35 year old one but so long as it uses less energy I guess that's fine. I hate the app, his you have to install a whole new "ecosystem" app for every new "smart" device you install and you end up with a bunch of stupidily named apps on your phone like eufy, howk, tuah etc also not a huge fan of having to leave a review to get an… Read more
extended warranty, as it means most people will leave the review in the honeymoon phase when they have a shiny new device instead of if/when they encounter issues. But overall it's fine, I guess.

We have the Aquatech HWU installed on the 3rd September 2026. Powerhouse was the supplier and I must comment their good work in maintaining good communication with me. unit. There is nothing wrong with my old gas HWU. It's just that it is burning a lot of gas to maintain the 60 deg C temperature. The unit is quiet and I think our neighbour appreciates the quietness of the HWU when it is running. However, their Wi-Fi Setup Manual is misleading as the QR code takes me to the old Tuya App that is not working. I need to call-up Tuya to install the updated Tuya Smart Home App. Bottomline is: the QR code in their Wi-Fi Setup Manual should be updated and take customer to the correct Tuya App. Now the new App is not performing as well. I can't even what is the water temperature, tank capacity, etc. What is the point of having the App that tells you you have such an device around the house.
The unit has been great, has been installed for a few months now with no issues at all. Constant great hot water. We have nearly ran out when guests stay but just need to remember to turn on the unit over night if there has been lots of use at night.
