the tank temperature is at the start of the day. I am in the middle of winter at the moment, so I guess this is the worse case scenario but it's handling the cold weather just fine.

The isolation of the tank is very good, there is hardly any temperature lost due to cold ambient temperature outside.

You can control the heating schedule on the unit itself or via the Tuya app. Both are pretty easy to operate. Aquatech recommends that the scheduling should be done directly on the unit and not via the Tuya app. The Tuya App should be used for viewing purely because if the internet is down when the schedule is suppose to start or end, then this even will not triggered because the schedule is stored on the Tuya server. And you should not schedule both on the Tuya app and directly on the unit as this might conflict with each other. I hope this help as I did spend sometime exploring this.

Had the system installed less than a week ago, it is performing well so far. Nice hot water in the shower, delivered faster than the old instantaneous hot water system we had, so less waiting and wasting of water. quiet, but there is another rattly sound which is a little unpleasant when standing very close. The wifi and mobile app are handy to keep an eye on the tank temperature, while getting used to the new system. I don't like the adverts in the mobile app though, makes it feel a bit cheap and nasty. The unit/installation looks nice and neat, better than some other brands offerings.

professional, cleaned up thoroughly, and, after the electricians completed their work (which was also excellent), removed all packaging and rubbish. We couldn't speak more highly of the entire team. The Aquatech X8 looks great and operates very quietly. One of the standout features is the integrated timer and app, which allows us to schedule water heating to coincide with peak solar generation. This makes excellent use of our rooftop solar and helps keep our hot water costs to a minimum. The price is very competitive and with a solid warranty was the standout choice. Overall, we're extremely happy with both the Aquatech X8 and the quality of the installation. Based on our experience, we would happily recommend both the product and Brightworks Solar.

the evening when we can just hear it. We will investigate the fan modes to see if this nose could be lowered further, but it's already a quiet motor in a city suburb. Household of 2, haven't run out of hot water at all, and the temperature has not fluctuated. Love the option to heat during free electricity or sunlight hours when we switch plans or have solar installed to help further our efficiency. Like the ability to control from the unit or via an app. As another review notes, sometimes rain gets in the side of the unit and can be seen but this hasn't caused any issues. Too early to comment on long term performance, but hoping this unit continues to run smoothly into the future!

Summary - great pump, heats up quickly, no problems for 2-3 people normal usage in a 3 br double storey townhouse. If you are worried about running out, or have more people, consider getting a larger tank volume (this one is ~270L), or run the heat pump twice a day (easy to do, we run it once per day). pump provider. They contacted me straight away and were very helpful in evaluating different options. Their quotes were excellent and they arranged installation VERY quickly. The installers arrived on time, were very professional and did an EXCELLENT job of installation. The unit was running within a few hours of them arriving and they removed the old system and cleaned up everything after them. The hot water was working later that night and the system has been great since. I put the mode to Hybrid+ which heats the water to 70 degC during the day when my solar is running and the it lasts 24 hours until the timer comes on again the next morning. **Update 9-Jun-2026** We have been using the unit for 1 month today and we have never had any issues with hot water not being available. Compared to our previous instantaneous gas hot water (which was about 4 years old), the heat pump actually has a higher hot water pressure at the taps, heats up quicker and is hotter, which I was pleasantly surprised with! We are 2 people in the house and we had a very tight space to fit the unit in, which is why we didn't choose the larger tank size model. We normally have 2 standard length showers each day (1 each). And use the hot water at our basins. The kitchen is the furthest point from the heat pump and so takes the longest time to heat up, which is where we use the hot water the most (after the showers) so the taps run for a bit before the water gets hot. This morning, for example, the Tuya monitoring app showed the tank temperature down to about 35 degC at 10am, which when I have the timer set for the heat pump to turn on. Even with the temp sensor reading 35 degC, the hot water is still as hot at the tap as other times of the day (the sensor is in the middle of the tank I believe). The heat pump turns on at 10am and generally takes about 45-60 minutes before the sensor reading start to increase. After that, it heats the water about 10 degC in 1 hour. Once it get to 60 degC, the compressor turns off and the element turns on and heats the tank to 70 degC (Hybrid+ mode) and it takes about 1hr 15min for it go from 60 degC to 70 degC before the element turns off. I did think it would be a good idea to add additional pipe insulation, to try and reduce the temperature loss over the day, so I add a BUNCH of insulation to the pipes, being careful to able to easily remove it to exposes the pressure relief valve and tempering valve (see the pictures). What I found after a couple of weeks, was the the additional insulation made NO DIFFERENCE at all to the heat loss - which really means that the as-installed condition is actually pretty good and it's not worth doing anything additional :) I added a graph of the Tuya app data, showing the water tank temp over day, with the last 30 days of data overlaid on each other. The thick RED line show yesterday's and today's data, which has been the lowest temp it has gotten to. We are normally 3 people in the house and the unit would cope fine with that running once per day I think, but if you are worried with 3/4 or more, you could always set the unit to run a second time in the evening to heat the tank up again and in only takes a couple of hours to do so.

Happy with the unit. Chose this one as it's able to be monitored and controlled with Tuya / Home Assistant, and has the powered anode for less maintenance (with an additional backup). Some feedback for improvement: - WiFi is tricky to reset if you change network name or it failed to connect the first time. I'm sure their support would help if contacted, but this procedure should really be added to the manual. Someone posted a video via Whirlpool that showed how to do it. - My unit arrived with a small cosmetic dent where the power plug was pressed against the unit in shipping, the factory packaging design / QC may need a look. My installer handled this well, brought it to my attention proactively and offered to either arrange a replacement unit, or to knock a bit off the cost on the spot.

had cause to contact Aquatech customer support more than half a dozen times in under 4 months. The timer setting screen is the most user unfriendly thing I've encountered in the 21st century and the customer support, in my experience, has been contradictory and dismissive.

We have had numerous instances of no hot water water where we've been told we didn't select the right settings when, in fact, the set up was conducted while we were on a call under the instruction of Aquatech technical staff. We have also recently been told by the company that handled the installation that it is potentially unlikely the unit will perform the way we need it to in high demand situations and may need to use it in 'element mode' which is essentially just like an 'old school' electric hot water system where it heats the water all the time.

I wish we had just installed another gas unit.
