bought the best product on the market but nothing worked. So I called in the carpet specialists that had originally laid my carpet about 5 years ago - they came in and measured the room and within a week they sent some identical twins out to lay it - they were so professional and polite and didn't complain at all about my naughty pets and the carpet is a success. We hit the jackpot with our carpet layers Josuha and Sharn, absolutely outstanding. The job was done with minimum fuss. Matt came and measured up and brought some carpet samples - gave us his honest opinion and advice regarding colour schemes, different tones of carpet colours and depth of carpet pile. He could have sold us a more expensive carpet and a dearer underlay but told us in his experience that would not be suitable for our bedrooms and stairs. An installation date was agreed and Matt kept us informed and called to say the carpet fitter would be arriving on the arranged date and time. Brett the carpet fitter was punctual-polite and careful around our furniture and newly painted walls and skirting boards he was very professional and did an amazing job fitting the carpet like a tailor fitting a suit. Perfection from start to finish. Thanks Matt & Brett. Couldn’t have had a better experience 10 out of 10. Highly recommended.

There were numerous workmanship issues throughout the installation, particularly on the stairs, including poor joins, visible gaps, misaligned stair nosings, rough finishing, and untidy painting. Even Andersens eventually acknowledged several major defects and agreed that parts of the installation needed to be replaced.

I was originally advised the installation would take around 3 working days, but the entire process ended up taking 6 days, including rectification. This caused unnecessary disruption and delayed our move-in plans.

What disappointed me further was the rectification process. The owner and another staff member attended the inspection and appeared quite defensive, repeatedly telling me that the work was “good” or within an acceptable standard. However, after inspecting the defects themselves, they acknowledged several major workmanship issues and agreed to replace those sections. At the same time, they maintained that many of the remaining minor defects were acceptable and did not require further attention. While the major defects were rectified, a number of the minor workmanship issues that I raised were left unresolved because Andersens considered them to be within an acceptable standard. As a customer paying for a premium installation, I simply expected a higher level of finish.

To make matters worse, despite acknowledging the quality issues, Andersens still sent the same subcontractor back to carry out the rectification. After seeing the original workmanship, I had expected someone with more experience or a different installer to complete the repairs. Using the same contractor again significantly reduced my confidence that the problems would be properly resolved.

During the installation, the subcontractor also mentioned that they do not do much work for Andersens anymore and that this job was mainly because they were able to install the stairs. I have no way of verifying the reason behind that, so I won’t speculate whether it was related to workmanship or something else. However, after seeing the quality of the installation, it certainly left me wondering.

Another disappointing aspect was the lack of customer service after the problems were identified. At no point did Andersens Ipswich apologise for the poor workmanship or the inconvenience caused. There was also very little proactive communication. Throughout the process, I was the one who had to repeatedly contact Andersens to follow up on defects, rectification, and progress updates.

What surprised me most was that, while rectification work was still ongoing, Andersens requested the remaining payment. I had already paid a 50% deposit upfront, and my understanding was that the balance would be paid once the defects had been addressed. I have now paid the account in full, but that should not be taken as an indication that I was highly satisfied with the workmanship. I made the final payment because the major defects that I had raised were eventually rectified, even though some of the minor workmanship issues remain unresolved.

I chose Andersens because I expected professional workmanship, proper quality control, and accountability. Instead, I spent weeks inspecting defects, documenting issues, arranging inspections, and chasing updates for problems that should never have occurred in the first place.

As a result, we have decided to engage another flooring contractor, at our own expense, to rectify the remaining issues. It is extremely disappointing that after paying a premium price for professional installation, we still need to hire someone else to achieve the level of finish we expected from the beginning.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Andersens Ipswich. If you’re considering them, I strongly recommend asking who will actually carry out the installation, whether they are employees or subcontractors, and what quality control process is in place before the job is signed off.

Doubtful marketing – Andersen's recently advertised a promotion apparently providing free installation of Australian made carpet. We received a price from Andersens (supposedly with free installation) that was the same price we received from a competitor (that included the cost of installation. Go figure that one!!..Guess it pays to "shop around" and be circumspect about apparent "freebies".

Andersen's Stafford detailed quote. The tradesman was a lovely young man named Sam. He was absolutely delightful and fortunately for me he was earlier than expected which was great. Sam confirmed what Terry had explained and set to work. His attention to detail was just second to none and as he had encounted no unforeseen issues with the prep work managed to have the entire job completed in two days and allowed myself and a couple of friends to start cleaning and moving my furniture back to the original places. Sam also went above and beyond by helping to put my beds back into the rooms and one of the beds was an electric bed which was extremely heavy.
