 AI reviews summary

CBD College receives high praise for its practical and efficient training delivery, particularly in First Aid, CPR, RSA, and RCG courses. Students frequently highlight the expertise of specific trainers and the convenience of the blended learning model. However, serious concerns have been raised regarding the treatment of non-native English speakers and the quality of advanced certification programs.

Pros
Exceptional Trainers: Instructors like Paul and Matt Dewing are consistently singled out for being engaging, professional, and capable of using real-life anecdotes to make material memorable.
Efficient Blended Learning: The combination of self-paced online modules followed by concise, hands-on practical sessions is highly valued by students seeking time-efficient certification.
Practical & Engaging Delivery: Courses are described as interactive and "no-fuss," focusing on building confidence through realistic role-plays rather than just rote memorisation.
Strong Retention: A significant segment of the feedback comes from repeat customers who have returned to the college for annual renewals over five to six years.
Cons
Discrimination Concerns: Multiple high-impact reviews report experiences of prejudice and a lack of support for non-native English speakers or Māori students, particularly in RCG and TAE courses.
Inconsistent Advanced Training: The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE) is criticised for poor resource materials, confusing manuals, and a lack of facilitator consistency.
Refund Rigidness: Instances of training being terminated midway by instructors without the provision of a refund or adequate support have been reported.
Location Clarity: Some students noted difficulty finding the new campus location, suggesting that directions provided to the Sydney CBD site are currently insufficient.
Verdict

CBD College is an excellent choice for standard certifications like First Aid, CPR, and RSA, where the training is fast-paced, professional, and well-regarded. However, prospective students for higher-level qualifications (TAE/WHS) or those who require additional language support should exercise caution due to reported issues with teaching quality and inclusivity.

Paid face-to-face RCG training not completed, refund refused Very disappointing and unfair experience with CBD College’s RCG course. I felt the trainer’s approach was discriminatory towards non-native English speakers. I paid for face-to-face training, not merely an exam attempt. However, during the RCG session, the trainer spoke extremely fast… Read more

and the class did not feel supportive for English-as-a-second-language students. In my experience, the training seemed only suitable for locals or people with local-level English. Instead of properly supporting me as a paying student, the trainer stopped my training midway and asked me to leave the classroom. My paid training was therefore not completed.

Afterwards, CBD College avoided the main issue and focused only on the “Not Yet Competent” result, while ignoring the fact that the face-to-face training service I paid for was not fully delivered. They first offered only a partial refund/credit, and after I rejected their unreasonable solution, they changed their position and refused any refund.

This is not just a refund issue. It raises serious concerns about training quality, fairness, student support, and how second-language learners are treated. I enrolled for training and guidance, but I felt dismissed, unsupported and unfairly treated. I would not recommend this provider for RCG training.

I attended a First Aid training today and was extremely impressed by our instructor, Paul. He was not only professional and knowledgeable, but also incredibly attentive and patient. I attended cbd college today to complete my cpr course had a really good experience everyone was very welcoming didn’t feel uncomfortable whatsoever. The course covered a lot of crucial information and wasn’t hard to understand either Show reply

Follow-up  · My tips for future students would probably involve asking questions, don’t be shy to put your hand up and answer a question even if your not sure it shows your committed and interested. However a part of the course that really engaged me was when we had to demonstrate on the dolls and engage with other students in the class, the instructors explained everything clearly, were very friendly and overall a great experience

I recently completed a first aid course with Paul, and I can confidently say it was one of the most informative and engaging training experiences I've ever had. practical, and relatable way.

What stood out most was his passion for empowering others with life-saving skills. He created a learning environment that was both professional and approachable, encouraging questions and making sure every participant felt confident in their abilities. From CPR techniques to managing emergencies, Paul covered every topic with precision and care.

Thanks to Paul, I now feel equipped to respond effectively in real-life situations. His training didn’t just tick the boxes—it inspired genuine confidence. I highly recommend Paul to anyone seeking top-tier first aid instruction. He’s a true expert and an outstanding educator.

TAE Course - Appalling, waste of hard earned money. Do not recommend. Poor quality training. Bad facilitators. Confusing manual, not straightforward and easy to follow. Sub-standard course. organisation to find faults in a training program to give advice to provider on how to improve training scenario, as if we are contracted to do so. Not interested in that line of work. Was a total waste of time. Was very confused with the resource materials that were all over the place in three different manuals. Very hard to follow. Low grade teaching, poor resources. Total shambles. Im an experienced teacher of adults in New Zealand for 8 years. Aussie facilitators prejudiced (racust) against long time qualified Māori teacher like myself. Shameful. They taught to make sure I failed the course. Maori facilitators trained in New Zealand trying to do TAE again because New Zealand qualification is not internationally recognised in Sydney, beware. Run away from this provider. You are wasting money on a course that seeks to fail you because if your brown skin from New Zealand. Don't train at CBD College in WHS & TAE. Bad provider. Should be shut down.

Low review, wont be returning, I have been doing First Aid and CPR at CBD for 6 years annually. Mostly I have had good instructors. But also at times very unprofessional instructors. Paul was wonderful, I enjoyed the stories here and there and the role plays were great fun and good practical learning. It was a quick course, I feel that this should be a refresher. My previous training encompassed more risks and different scenarios but from this I can see its about being able to provide assistance regardless of the technique, the more aware the better. Show details ·  1
