I found the experience in getting a new kitchen and laundry with Freedom really awesome. The design consultation was a great way to start and Freedom was very accommodating when timelines were delayed. The cabinets and other products supplied were fantastic, and we were really happy with the demolition team, installer and other trades who worked on the project. Show details ·  1

Beautiful kitchen - what a difference it's made to the apartment. I went with a 70's esq feel to be sympathetic to when the apartment was built. The Freedom Team were great to deal with (esp Julie) and the installers were ace! Show details

Extremely disappointing sales process, customer service and finish I strongly regret choosing Kitchen Group/Freedom for my kitchen renovation. The biggest issue was not simply the cost of the kitchen; it was the way the cost was represented to me, what happened when their own error was discovered, and then the disappointing quality of the… Read more

finished installation.

I purchased their Signature Range at one of their one-day events in store, expecting a premium product and finish. Unfortunately, what I received did not meet that expectation.

During the sales process, [Name Removed] verbally told me everything was included except trades. She had me sign the contract in-store on my phone, while the shop was closing for the day around me. I relied on that representation when proceeding with the purchase. I was not made aware that the benchtops were excluded and that I would later be facing a separate $4,595 cost for them.

When this discrepancy was eventually identified, months later, I raised it with the company and expected them to take reasonable responsibility for an error made during their own sales process.

Instead, [Name Removed] offered me just $1,500 towards the $4,595 unexpected cost. When I questioned why they could not contribute closer to half of the additional cost, [Name Removed] told me during a phone conversation, “we won't make any money.”

During the same phone conversation, [Name Removed] also said of [Name Removed], “There is a reason she is no longer with the company, I can't discuss.”

I found that comment particularly concerning given that [Name Removed] was the person who had verbally represented to me that everything was included except trades. I won't speculate about why [Name Removed] left the company; I can only speak to what I was personally told and my own experience.

Even the refund process has been frustrating. On 12 August 2026, I was advised that the refund would be processed. It is now approximately four weeks later, and despite repeatedly following up, I have only received a portion of the agreed refund.

That response was incredibly disappointing. I wasn't asking them to pay for an upgrade I had decided to add. I was asking them to take reasonable responsibility for a significant additional expense arising from an error in their own sales process.

I had already committed to the kitchen and was then left dealing with an unexpected $4,595 bill. I was effectively put in the position of negotiating with the company over how much of their own mistake they were prepared to acknowledge.

And unfortunately, the problems didn't stop with the pricing.

For a kitchen sold as their “Signature Range”, I am very disappointed with the quality and finish:

• There are noticeable and unnecessarily large gaps between the cabinet doors.

• Door sizes are slightly mismatched.

• The push-to-open mechanisms are oversized and don’t always work.

• Three of the drawers were supplied without the promised push-to-open mechanism.

• The dishwasher has been installed with a large gap down both sides. Rather than looking like a properly integrated part of the kitchen, it looks cheap and unfinished.

• After signing the contract and paying the deposit, there was very little genuine guidance, help or advice when it came to choosing the finer details of the kitchen.

These aren't the details I would expect to be picking up on a supposedly “premium kitchen range”.

What makes this particularly frustrating is that the kitchen was not a cheap purchase. I paid for what was represented as a higher-end/signature product, yet the finished result contains details that, in my opinion, fall well short of the premium finish I expected.

If I had been clearly told from the beginning that the benchtops were excluded, I could have made an informed decision about the true total cost before committing to the kitchen.

Instead, I was given one understanding during the sales process and discovered months later, when it was too late, that the financial reality was very different. When I raised the issue, the company's response was effectively that they couldn't compensate me properly because it would affect their profit.

And after all of that, I am left with a kitchen that, in my opinion, does not have the quality of finish I expected from their Signature Range.

I do want to acknowledge that there was one genuinely positive part of the process: the tradespeople.

The trades I dealt with were helpful, efficient, knowledgeable and honest. They were easy to communicate with, did their jobs professionally, and I found their pricing to be reasonable. I genuinely cannot fault the tradespeople I dealt with, and they were by far the best part of the overall experience.

Unfortunately, the quality of the tradespeople does not make up for the issues I experienced with the sales process, communication, cabinetry and customer service.

My advice to anyone considering Kitchen Group/Freedom, also known as Kingsman:

Do not attend their one-day events without being prepared to walk away.

Get absolutely everything in writing. Check every inclusion and exclusion yourself. Don't be pressured into signing the contract on your phone; take a couple of days to read every line item carefully. And inspect every aspect of the finished kitchen closely.

Most importantly, don't assume that something described as “Signature” will necessarily have a premium finish.

For a major renovation and a significant amount of money, I expected considerably better — both from the product and from the company's willingness to take responsibility when things went wrong.

Design was good but we had a problem in that the dishwasher didn’t fit under the benchtop due to a window being out of level. The window ran along the benchtop & out of level was not accounted for as the benchtop cut right in around the reveal and aluminium frame of the window, so the window could not be pulled out to re-level it. As a carpenter I… Read more

was able to rectify it but Freedom or the recommended installer performing the work were both dodging who was responsible.

Also a shelf that was 670mm above the benchtop determined the height of the tiles on the splashback. Being 670mm above the benchtop mean’t a cut tile of 70mm odd was needed all around the kitchen. The height should have been 600mm so a cut tile was not needed. My checks of the design & measurements unfortunately didn’t pick this up.

The delivery of the kitchen was excellent with no damage

Very poor company to deal with. They installed a kitchen bench too low and the dishwasher wouldnt fit in its place. Tried to get me accept all these short term workarounds rather than the fix the underlying issue. Even a quality inspector they arranged failed to measure the heights because they knew they were incorrect. Had to take to Fair Trading to resolve but it’s a lengthy process. Avoid at all costs. secure the floating shelf above the bench top instead of a dowel so the bracket stands out and looks terrible. I had to put something in front of it or else everyone who comes into the kitchen points it out. We were let down by the stone supplier which meant we had to source our own which was a bit cumbersome. Overall the quality of the cabinetry is good for the money and the experience of using freedom kitchens was efficient.

Follow-up  · The delay with the stone was due to the recall of the silica containing quartz benchtops. We managed to find an independent kitchen company to provide the stone. The shelf has not been fixed which is disappointing. I have put something in front of the bracket to hide it.

Absolutely hands down the worst experience and NEVER should be an option to select if you are considering. More than 6 months after the initial contract was made we finally are rid of contractors. They market themselves as so much more and detract from the brand reputation of Freedom. There is so much talk about "CUSTOM" during the enquiry… Read more

process and design only to later discover that all diagrams and measurements asked to sign off on are simply "illustration purposes only" and the thieves who run the business hide behind the claim we are a supply-only joinery company. The service has been atrocious from the designers, the failed & wrong deliveries and the so-called "Customer service" has been non-existent. And all of this for the privilege of investing more than $40K on what could have been bought from IKEA or Bunnings and installed for much less - after all NOTHING provided was custom and is all what suits the supply only joinery company that markets itself as "Freedom Kitchens". Perhaps these criminals consider freedom as being a dictatorship whereby unassuming customers do not have any choice and must pay in full 100% before the pre-fabricated panels are dispatched from the warehouse. Also, numerous emails to Freedom Kitchens management & Freedom itself have gone both unacknowledged and unanswered which is a further disappointment that a customers concerns and anguish have gone unnoticed further confirming that the criminal-like behaviour of this business. I can assure you that the service and product I received for $40K is nothing like the service and product that is marketed by this organization nor how they are perceived on supposedly quality programs such as The Block. To confirm my beliefs on the nefarious actions of this business, every single trade recommended and used by this organization, from the delivery through to the installer, plumber, electrician and glass splash back ALL unanimously volunteered that EVERY SINGLE job they do with Freedom Kitchens has dozens of issues leaving customers frustrated. Sadly and again regrettably having chosen Freedom Kitchens, less than 3 weeks after install, I already have faulty components showing up despite their assertion that only "Premier Grade" equipment is used. The draws are poorly constructed with the sides and backing falling apart having never even been screwed in and awaiting a response from them to claim the 7 year warranty. Seems that they have all my money are will only speak to me if I want to replace the brand new "designer kitchen" that they have just supplied me. Caveat emptor - Let the buyer beware.

My feedback: I ordered a new custom kitchen with Freedom for my old house where walls and floors are not straight. more expensive than a standard size IKEA type kitchen cabinet due to custom measurement, but i end up saving a lot of trade fees compared to a standard kitchen as it was installed so much quicker (3 days VS 7 days on average for non-custom kitchen) with no out of scope fees so i was better off. And the quality is so much better!

We engaged Freedom Kitchens for the supply of a new kitchen in Victoria. Although the contract was described as “supply only”, the installer was organised and scheduled through Freedom Kitchens (Kitchen Group) documentation as part of the overall kitchen process. During installation, the integrated dishwasher door could not be fitted because the… Read more

necessary components had not been delivered in time. As a result, the kitchen remained incomplete. The installer later sought an additional call-out fee to return and complete the installation. We contacted Freedom on multiple occasions seeking assistance and asking that they arrange completion or take responsibility for the supply delay that caused the additional cost. Rather than resolving the issue, we were referred back to the installer. In the final correspondence, the Completions Officer stated in writing: “I will not be responding further to emails sent to this address.” With no practical assistance provided, we paid the installer under protest in order to avoid further escalation and then arranged for our own builder to complete the remaining work. The cabinetry itself is of reasonable quality. However, the post-sale support and approach to resolving a straightforward completion issue were disappointing and unnecessarily stressful. Based on our experience, I would strongly encourage future customers to clarify in writing who is responsible for installation completion and how supply delays will be handled before proceeding.

Terrible service, No Accountability - AVOID Freedom Kitchens – We signed a contract with Freedom Kitchens for our new kitchen back in early August 2021 and it is now December 2021 and our kitchen is still not finished. is provide the cabinets and leave the installation to the tradesmen they have recommended. Unfortunately, neither Freedom nor the main installer traddie has taken accountability for the installation of our kitchen and we seem to be bouncing from one side to the other. We are trying to get some issues in our kitchen rectified (e.g. panels missing, top cabinet dropping, cornices poorly installed and finished) however the main traddie installer doesn't seem to give any importance to finishing our kitchen and Freedom is simply asking us to coordinate with the traddie. Needless to say, the whole process has been extremely frustrating and not what you expect of a premium company such as Freedom. We strongly recommend everyone to find a smaller kitchen company that manages the production and installation themselves so you can avoid headaches. Please avoid Freedom Kitchens, it is not worth the money or the hassle.

Our experience with Freedom Kitchens was a nightmare. They promise the world and say they will 'project manage' the process. Before signing, be aware that Freedom Kitchens is essentially a kit-style kitchen. There is nothing bespoke about it, customisation options are limited, so if you’re expecting a tailored kitchen solution, this is not it. Once you sign the contract, communication is mainly via their online portal, and responses can take days. While there is an… Read more

option to call, you rarely speak to the same person twice. At one point, it took three follow-ups plus a phone call just to get a response.

You are also told that you will have a site manager who oversees all trades. This is misleading. In reality, the “site manager” simply provides you with the contact details of the trades, and you are responsible for organising everything yourself, as well as paying each trade individually.

If any issues arise, such as damaged or faulty items, replacement parts can take weeks, adding further delays and frustration. On a side note, if you order cutlery drawers, be aware the inserts are not provided. You need to order these separately at extra cost. This option was not provided to me at time of signing.

The final result and kitchen quality are acceptable, but the overall experience was stressful and not what was sold to us. If you are on a very tight budget, have plenty of time, and don’t mind being mucked around, this may be suitable. For me, it wasn’t worth the frustration, and I wouldn’t do it again.
