The NRMA Car Batteries service is highly regarded for its convenience and the professionalism of its roadside technicians. Most reviews highlight a seamless end-to-end process, from booking via the app to on-site diagnostic testing and immediate installation. While the service provides significant "peace of mind" for members, there are isolated but serious reports of poor warranty handling and complex phone menus.

NRMA Car Batteries is an excellent choice for motorists seeking a reliable, high-quality emergency replacement service with expert onsite fitting. While it may carry a price premium and occasional administrative hurdles regarding warranties, the speed and technical competence of the patrol officers make it a highly recommended service for peace of mind.
Thank goodness for my NRMA membership as they saved the day after I found that my car's battery had completely died. I was lucky in that I was home and the waiting time was surprisingly short (because the service man was already in the area). I opted to get a new battery, and it was installed expertly. I was very happy with the whole experience.
Jake was prompt, professional, friendly and very helpful in diagnosing, explaining , and fitting a new battery in a Citroen c4 Cactus where battery fitting, odb2 port, stop start hardware, and software is somewhat non standard. He is an excellent representative for NRMA!
I required an NRMA attendance after my RAV 4 wouldn't start. Got a quick response from their reception who updated me with expected time frame. NRMA guy was there with 15 minutes, tested my battery (which was dead and showed me the test!) and then installed a new one. Driver was really friendly and professional and had me back mobile with 15 minutes

Thanks a lot NRMA Team , i will recomend to all people
Great service and quick response with app map telling when the mechanic is travelling and how far is away
What a debacle of a company NRMA has plummeted to. I purchased a premium NRMA battery Sep 2024 after entering Rego for battery suitable according to vehicle specs. 3 Yr warranty. Battery 3888 costing $539. Within months my vehicle (with a stop-start engine and battery matched with make and model) began stalling at intersections ie:… Read more
stop-start failed to restart on multiple occasions and in dangerous situations putting safety at risk. Took car to mechanic who ran tests and identified battery fault (10V reading, not 12).
Called NRMA who advised that their mobile mechanic would go to the workshop where car was located and test the battery on the spot. Contrary to this, I received a call from my Mechanic an hour later to advise that NRMA removed the battery, conducted no testing but was in the process of taking it away, effectively leaving my vehicle without a battery and at the workshop indefinitely. What???
A call to the NRMA patrol attending my vehicle advised me that 'the NSW Central Coast has no NRMA mechanics in order to test on the spot' and that, as an NRMA contractor, he'd need to take it to his Manager who'd then send the battery away for testing. No timeframe could be advised. Again..... What the??
I was FORCED to buy another battery in order to have my vehicle returned to me. It has since started perfectly.
No phone call from NRMA on test results, nor where the battery was, nor an offer of a refund. Nothing. Absolute zero contact. They effectively stole the battery. My calls resulted in utter confusion on the NRMA battery phone line. They had no idea what was happening.
Next step - refund of $539? Nope!. I forwarded the battery test results and vehicle fault log as provided by Audi. 7 weeks, 5 phone calls and multiple emails to NRMA complaints Dpt and they've admitted that the battery they removed went "missing' and they cannot arrange a (pending !) refund due to an internal cost-centre dispute between their Dpts. What a disgrace!
It is a no brainer that NRMA are obliged to refund the FAULTY battery they removed for testing and then 'lost'. It is also a sad reality that this once great organisation has become a shambolic joke at the customer's expense.
Now to waste my time with a claim via Fair Trading......
Dont do it.. Buy your batteries elsewhere – Turns out, the battery I bought roadside is basically $100 cheaper anywhere else. When membership covers the cost of road service, the battery price should at the very least be competitive roadside without price gouging. .. It turns out, the 4707 battery is available in a host of places for around 170-180. But they charged me $285.. DONT BUY FROM THEM... Show details

Couldn’t be happier with the battery replacement service from NRMA. My car died on me early in the morning and I wasn’t sure what to do, but the roadside tech arrived quickly, ran a full battery health check, and had me back on the road in no time with a brand new battery fitted on the spot. The technician was friendly, explained everything… Read more
clearly, and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. He tested the alternator and charging system too just to make sure everything was in order — that kind of thoroughness really stood out.
Pricing was fair and transparent — no surprises. The whole process from call to completion was smooth and stress-free.
I’ve been an NRMA member for a while but this experience reminded me exactly why it’s worth it. Highly recommend their battery service to anyone who finds themselves in a bind. Top-notch service from a team that genuinely cares.
Want me to tweak the tone (more casual, more formal, shorter), add specific details like a staff name or location, or write a few different versions to choose from?
I recently needed roadside assistance from NRMA, and while the actual technician who attended was very friendly, professional, and helped make a stressful situation much better, the process of contacting NRMA was extremely frustrating. If someone is stranded on the roadside, stressed, anxious, or even panicking, the last thing they need is an… Read more
automated phone system with endless options, advertisements, and multiple sub-menus before being able to get help.
During the experience, I felt frustrated, overwhelmed, and unsupported while trying to get through the phone system. Instead of feeling reassured that help was on the way, I felt more stressed having to carefully listen through long automated messages and repeated options just to reach assistance.
The technician who arrived was excellent and made the overall experience much better with his friendly attitude and helpful service, which is why I’m not giving a lower rating.
NRMA should seriously simplify their phone system, especially for roadside emergencies, so customers can get help quickly without added stress.

Have been a member for ever and can't remember the last time I might have called. From the moment I called to the repair of my car I was so impressed with the service I received. The customer service person I dealt with was kind, caring and explained it may be a long wait. I explained I had an unwell husband in the car and a grandchild and on… Read more
a day where the wait time was 300 minutes due to their site going down, she promptly marked my job as priority which I was so thankful for. Some 10 minutes later I had a representative called Matt call and try to ascertain what the issue might be and he identified that it was probably battery. Then Moonee the tech arrived and he checked the car - agreed that it was battery and he left to secure one and returned to put it into the car. The whole process took 2 and a half hours from the call to completion, but because I was treated so well and knew what was happening I did not mind at all especially considering the pressure that NRMA was under due to their website crashing,. Well done and thank you NRMA.

My car battery died without any indication there was a problem. I was by myself and initially concerned as to how to overcome this dilemma. I have never used the app for roadside assistance. It was exceptionally good. The patrolman was there in no time at all and solved my problem. The patrolman was exceptionally good and I could not be happier. It is times like this that you realise the benefit of being an NRMA member.
New battery fitted & on my way after 12hr night shift on a cold Winters morning in 90mins from when I first requested assistance. Very helpful and professional service person.
I called NRMA & they made sure that i was safe firstly & made sure that they knew what the problem was & then stated how long the mechanic would take.I was told that the mechanic would let me know when He was close & provided a link so i could see on a map. This happened & the mechanic was there at stated time. Surely , if reviews are found necessary, they should be short and too the point. “ Are you satisfied with the service? If not, why not.” The star rating is for the survey, not the service!
Assistance amazing but 25 year membership does nothing when it comes to battery replacement costing. NRMA replacement batteries on the highest end. Opinion is taking advantage when, due to your situation, you have no choice but to purchase.

I had a battery put in on 29 December 2023. The 7 February 2025 I find myself broken down with a battery with a dead cell. I called road service to find that the battery only had a 2 year warranty. I had a flat battery that I couldn’t get going using my own jump starter pack. Testing the battery is was totally dead and I knew I needed a new battery. So simple and convenient to call out NRMA Batttery Patrol. They were there very quickly. They double checked my battery before offering me the option of a new battery to which I gratefully said yes. All done and dusted professionally and rapidly. Thank you
My flat battery was replaced without a fuss & very promptly from contacting Roadside service to completing the job by a very professional serviceman. My only wish is that after 50years & a Gold member, they could have given me a good discount.

I am so sorry I didnt ask the name of the person who came to help. But I can only give praise to how he look after me and the car. He is a credit to NRMA. All I can say is thank you thank you.
Joe the nrma mechanic, seems to be the only road side mechanic that actually listens to the whole situation and tries his best to get back on the road without the stress.
NRMA roadside assist determined the problem quickly and installed a new battery as the -5 deg C chilly winter morning had drained the life force from my 5-year old battery.
Battery died suddenly, needed assistance... NRMA were there in just over 30 minutes, did all relevant checks before advising a new battery was required... this was done, serviceman waited for me to drive around because the car electronics was in reboot mode for some time... This part was very much appreciated as there were many warning symbols on the dashboard...
Couldn’t be happier with the service NRMA delivered from easy booking for help via their app to their updates and able to track the NRMA vehicle. help and knowledge. You never know when you’ll need roadside assistance. It reminded me to get my young son who’s recently licensed to get his membership for him and his car too.
Everything went according to plan from online ordering to delivery and installation. Felt confidence in what the technician was doing especially given all the electronics in these later model vehicles
The NRMA Representatives is spoke to were extremely professional, understanding and helpful. Service provider for the battery was helpful and polite and prompt at helping with my car issue
I recently requested NRMA service because my car had a flat battery when I was about to leave a shopping centre to head home.
