DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! A stressful, outdated, overpriced nightmare. (Would give 0/5 stars if I could!) TLDR; Photobookshop relies on false advertising, outdated infrastructure, and a customer service team that offers nothing but loops of empty scripts. Go to a competitor who actually respects your time and money. The long version: I chose… Read more
Photobookshop because they promised "premium quality and satisfaction." They are significantly more expensive than other printing companies, but because this was a meaningful farewell gift for a colleague leaving the country, I prioritized high quality over cost.
It was a massive mistake. If you want to protect your time, money, and sanity, do not print with them. Otherwise this is what you are getting yourself into:
Red Flag #1: Outdated, buggy software & zero tech support I spent 3 to 4 solid days working with their incredibly outdated proprietary software to design the book. When I tried to submit the order, the software froze. When I reached out to customer support, I was told they only accept Dropbox links. After setting up an account and sending the files, I asked them to verify receipt. Their response? "We can’t check that, but you will receive an email within 72 hours to confirm." To confirm that they have RECEIVED a digital file upload, a 72-hour confirmation window is an absolute joke.
Red Flag #2: Fake lead times & suspicious "local" manufacturing Their website explicitly promises a manufacturing turnaround of 2–7 business days (up to 14 in busy periods). However, a customer service agent named Gold flatly told me that this specific product takes a minimum of 3 weeks to manufacture. This company claims to be "Australian owned and made," but their complete lack of local production insight, extreme timeframes, and zero access to files make it highly apparent that production is outsourced overseas (likely China) while they mask it behind misleading local marketing.
Red Flag #3: Horrific support & "wiped" memories Dealing with their customer service (specifically an agent named Gold) was like Groundhog Day. Every single day I called to follow up, and for the first few days, it was as if her memory had been completely wiped. I had to restart the entire explanation and what I was requesting from scratch. There was zero proactive follow-ups, and absolute refusal to troubleshoot or provide timeframes of any sort. When I escalated to a manager named Ben, he admitted they couldn't even access my files to export a raw backup copy so I could print locally—a basic capability in any actual printing house. Ben promised to investigate and then simply ghosted me.
By Day 5, completely panicked that I would have nothing to hand my colleague before they left the country, I bit the bullet and spent >30 hours recreating the entire project from scratch with Diamond Photo.
The difference was staggering. Diamond Photo was half the price, confirmed receipt of my files instantly, their support team gave me clear, professional timelines (2–5 business days), and they even said "don't worry about troubling us, just ring us back and we'll check on your order for you".
Red Flag #4: Refund trap & fake sales/advertising The moment I asked Photobookshop for a refund, their behavior suddenly changed. Suddenly, the "3-week minimum" turned into "we can print it and get it to you in 2 weeks," which then desperately became "we can do same-day printing!"
I rejected their desperate offers and demanded my money back. It has been a month since I initiated a refund request. I was told 2 weeks ago that my refund has been approved, and have just been told that my case "has already been added to the (refund) processing list." IMO they are simply holding my money hostage. Do not be fooled by their perpetual "sales"—they are just a predatory tactic to force a rushed, expensive decision.

I made some HD hardcover layflat photobooks 30 cm x 30 cm of our recent safari trips to Africa and the results were very pleasing. I can recommend the matt finish which is an optional extra when you check out and upload your photobook. I think it worked out at only $5 extra for my 40 page book. These types of photobooks are the top of the range… Read more · 1
books with Photobookshop so are the most expensive but are very worthwhile and good value for money considering the high quality finish and excellent binding. Robbie G.
OmG!!! I just got my 120-page 30x30 hardbound photobook and I’m over the moon in love with it! It only costs me $60 in total including ship’g coz I took advantage of the promo (would’ve costs me $250 if not for the promo). And the pages! OmG! They’re thick and not the cheap quality looking one! The colours of the photos came out good too!!! I have… Read more · 1
bought 4 more of the same size books with their Mother’s Day sale for $238 incl shipping and I have 3 years to use it! Isn’t that great? I’m glad I did knowing that the quality is THIS GOOD! I have lots of time to finish my books. I’m planning to buy more for my 3 daughters ❤️❤️❤️
I love my photo book of The Five Stans. It was such a memorable trip and I have included details of some of these amazing experiences so I can remember them well into the future. Show reply

I created a Photobook for my sister & myself after our families travelled to Thailand. I did have one to two problems where I was unsure how to proceed but assistance was on hand and the issues were soon sorted. There were many book sizes to choose from, I choose a 120 page 30 x 30 which was perfect for me. The paper quality was very good and… Read more · 1
we were happy with the finished product. I now have a lovely photo album of our holiday to look back on. When I showed the book to another family member they were impressed and considered making their own.

Customer Support is incompetent and consistently wastes my time, ignores my requests, ignores the facts I have provided (changed the subject line to refer to a different Voucher code). Continually causes me frustration and does NOT resolve the customer issues (your PhotoBookShop system is also failing by constantly defaulting to the higher priced… Read more
paper option without the customer's consent - refer to PDF titled, 'Defaults to 25cent...pdf').
Critical information I provided by email is completely ignored, my subject line changed to incorrectly refer to another voucher code (refer to my file 'Voucher WAXXXXXXX...pdf). Their incompetent support has now referred to a previous issue in November 2025 rather than to the current issue provided in December 2025 while adding email pages of irrelevant information relating to November 2025. The same incompetent person seems to be the main cause and I have asked for that person not to deal / assigned to my issues in future.
Support did not spend more than two seconds reviewing my email dated 27/12/25 1:19am because they have ignored the attached file, ignored the full evidence provided, changed my subject line to refer to the wrong voucher code (from my original 25/12/25 WAXXXXX to one that was used in November being Voucher WAXXXXXXX) and ignored my points of dissatisfaction which is unprofessional and lacked due diligence. My experience has been completely unsatisfactory as I do not provide evidence, screen dumps and files just for them to be ignored.
Issues 1.The screen dumps and attached files were removed and ignored by support causing them to provide irrelevant information and an incorrect assumption and incorrect solution. 2. Their system will not accept their own voucher code and they do not read emails in its entirety which would be beneficial and assist them in making a fully informed and correct resolution. 3. My points of dissatisfaction have been totally ignored for a second time in the last 30 days so I will be warning others through social media. 4. I will be writing an official complaint directly to the manager at Photobookshop as my requests for escalations have been ignored once again. 5. Pick-up of the first set of calendars in November 2025 (or early Dec 2025), it was found that a calendar was incorrectly packaged with damaged corners which I could not provide as a gift and required a reprint to be picked up again in a future date, wasting my time. 6. Support incorrectly replaces the subject line with irrelevant information not related to the issue(s) raised, creating further confusion and time wastage. 7. Support have incompetently continually wasted my time by providing an answer relating to a previous issue (Nov 2025) after I escalated the Nov 2025 issue 2 - 3 times because critical evidence was ignored and due diligence not exercised by giving me an incorrect solution in Nov 2025 for a separate issue. 8. PhotoBookShop system seems to have an issue with accepting a voucher code that was purchased from PhotoBookShop and provided by PhotoBookShop. 10. How is PhotoBookShop going to compensate me for my wasted time and effort and all the problems I have encountered?
I ordered a premium 100-page HD Layflat photobook on 23 October. As of today (26 November) it still shows as “In Production.” Their website promises 2–7 working days production plus shipping. Mine has been stuck for over 5 weeks. This was meant to be my mum’s 80th birthday gift on the 16th. That moment is now long gone. Multiple calls and… Read more
emails, including a stressed call and an “escalation” a week before delivery should have occurred, resulted in no real help and no follow-up. Communication has been abysmal and filled with excuses.
I am still waiting on two emails sent this week that remain unanswered.
They offered a $50 gift card as “compensation,” which is meaningless once the occasion has passed and unrealistic to suggest I would place another order after this experience.
Appalling service and very little feedback when things have clearly gone wrong.
If you’re considering an HD Layflat book, be aware that real turnaround times may be weeks, not days.
This is a warning, plain and simple.

The book took a little longer to arrive than I expected, but I did buy the hard cover version with the best quality paper and a full 120 pages. When I queried this, the response was very quick and concise. Overall I am extremely happy with the result. Show reply
Follow-up · I used the wizard as a starting point for my layout. Then spent many hours / days adjusting the location and sizes of most of the images. The hard cover is quite durable but cannot comment on how durable the binding will be for these many pages. The colour quality was exactly as expected however, I do use a calibrated monitor to review my work.

I ordered three softcover photobooks, but the website errored out during checkout. The charge remained pending on my credit card, but no order was created. was charged twice. I contacted support immediately, they confirmed a refund had been requested and would take 3–5 business days.
Nearly a month and multiple follow-ups later, the refund has still not arrived. Support has been polite but entirely ineffective, blaming internal delays with their billing team and failing to provide an Acquirer Reference Number (ARN) so my bank could trace it. I've now had to lodge a dispute with my bank to do to get my money back.
While the physical photobooks turned out ok, the administrative headache and completely broken refund process mean I cannot recommend using them. If a glitch happens with your payment, be prepared to fight for your money.

I used to use Memento and like the software very much but they closed a couple of years back and directed me to PBS. I’m very disappointed that my order made in early Jan 2026 is taking so long, I’ve not had this issue before. I’ve emailed twice to the same person to be told it’s being monitored! What does that mean! It’s now 5 weeks, which… Read more
is well past the stated average delivery date. I also received a photobook last year where the title was slightly skewed on the page (it’s not, on the original), which is a real shame but I just live with it. When I finally get my January photobook, I will probably look elsewhere, quality is OK but software is nowhere near as good or easy to use as Memento’s was.

I posted in the past that Photobook Shop produced a high quality product but that submitting an order in January would lead to a long wait - I now need to amend this: I still maintain the product quality is of a high standard but the service is poor. for whatever reason, if you order the large A3 layflat premium book then that takes weeks since they wait until they get enough to do a run of them. Needless to say, as much as i liked their books and software, I moved my custom elsewhere and have found comparable quality, better service and prompt filling of orders. I wish Photoshop all the best as they navigate their way through whatever hardships have caused them to disappoint customers.

Have just done my latest of many books through Photobookshop and am the most thrilled yet. The book was made with scanned up to 100 and over year old photos and with all the warnings on the project about low quality I didnt hold much hope.
