Every transaction since retirement has not been processed within the time frames they tell you or I have not received notification or, there has been a problem from their end that means the five days to process starts again or, they provide you with false and misleading information. All of which means that your money sits in their transactions account longer.
My experience with REST has involved repeated delays, inconsistent information and complaint responses that did not actually address the issues I raised. I initially submitted my financial hardship application on 17 July 2026. Between 17 and 31 July, I contacted REST three separate times specifically to make sure everything was complete and to… Read more
ask whether anything else was required.
I was told things were fine.
It was only when I contacted REST for a fourth time that I was finally told additional information was actually needed.
I was then specifically instructed to have my ID certified by a police officer.
Because I wanted to avoid further delays, I asked more than once whether the ID was the last thing that needed to be verified and whether there was anything else I needed to have done.
I was told it was only the ID.
I obtained the certification and submitted my driver's licence believing that I had now completed the outstanding requirements.
I raised complaints about the earlier handling of my application, including why I had not been told sooner despite contacting REST three times, and why I had specifically been required to use a police officer.
Those issues were not actually addressed in the response I received.
Instead, the response told me that there was another requirement — my bank statement also needed to be verified.
I only discovered this after I had completed the ID verification and contacted REST believing my application was now complete.
I was later told that an earlier agent had apparently forgotten to mention the bank statement requirement.
That was particularly frustrating because I had specifically asked whether there was anything else I needed to get verified and had been told no.
I also later questioned the police officer requirement and was told that REST did not have a policy saying certification had to be performed specifically by a police officer. I was told it was simply the instruction from the processing team.
Again, my concern about why that requirement had been imposed was not properly answered.
After dealing with these additional requirements, I finally submitted my last required form on 1 September 2026.
This is a financial hardship application. I applied because I am already struggling financially and need access to this money.
More recently, during live chat, I was told my application was under review and that it could take up to 10 days because the review was taking longer this time.
The live chat representative also lodged another complaint on my behalf.
I asked when those 10 days officially started.
They could not tell me.
I then called REST and asked again.
The phone representative could not tell me either.
I was told that once the 10 days had passed, REST would try its hardest to get the payment to me as soon as possible.
But if nobody can tell me when those 10 days started, I have no way of knowing when they are supposed to finish.
I have retained the full live chat transcript and records of my communications and I am now escalating the matter to AFCA.
For a financial hardship application, the repeated missing information, additional requirements and lack of a clear timeline have made the financial situation I am already struggling with even harder.

If i could give a negative review, I would. I have been with REST only a short time, and up until 2 months ago, I was happy with the service. Not anymore. They have reduced me to tears, a babbling mess. Why? All I want to know is why is my withdrawal request taking so long? 4 weeks to date. Their reply? "delays", "multiple levels the request has… Read more
to go through". I cannot get a straight answer out of them. I lodged a complaint last week, and I was assured it was to be escalated through to the trustees (as the processing team don't take calls) and action would be taken. I rang this morning and again was assured that my complaint would be escalated. I feel as if I'm being penalised for wanting to withdraw my money! It's not even theirs. I'm not angry with the front line staff or the supervisors I spoke with, they're only doing what they have access to. I've worked my entire life, and all I want is to be able withdraw money from my super for my own personal use.
Has anyone else had issues getting their money out of REST?

Repeated delay in transferring funds – I have contacted the fund 4 times. Each time they advise they will transfer my superannuation & it will take up to 5 days. Then they stall, so I contact them again, and they advise it will take a further 5 days. This keeps occurring every 5 days. Very frustrating company to deal with.

I withdraw part of me super due to extreme finical distress, I completed a process with Rest. resolve the situation causing even further delays and unnecessary stress. I was left on hold in one case till almost 8:30pm well past when Rest had closed for the day. I raised a complaint with Rest; Rest heard the audio calls where the staff hung up on me not wanting to update the BSB and offered me $2000.00 in compensation. Rest also said it could not give me the audio calls in question, so I made a counteroffer of $4000.00 if Rest did not want to supply the call recordings. Rest decline, what's on those audio calls?
Now I am taking Rest to Court for may more than $4000.00, plus a copy of the audio calls it has refused to supply. Customers are left on hold long after anyone is there to take the calls, Rest knows there and does not seem to care.
Surely Rest has a duty of care not to treat customers so badly?

Would not answer questions on what category I fit in income protection wise. They could not advise me. Which makes me in unsure if I had any previous insurance in place that had been paid for years was that even valid? Or if I picked and they then decide it's wrong then they can say it's invalid. Yet will not tell you what is correct.

Use to be good, not anymore – I don’t know what’s happened to Rest, but I’ve been with them for 14 years and didn’t receive my July 2021- June 2022 annual statement until, today 01st December - 5 Months to get an annual statement?! Now, some my say “check your online transactions” which I did, however, I needed to have my statement on one document to reflect my employees… Read more
payments, as they had been purposefully, not paying payments. It outlined on Rests website that they would be sending all annual statements for 2021-2022, in October (I was made Redundant in September) Here we are today, December, and I finally received it. I just needed my annual statement to check the amount outstanding but no, I was waiting 5 months to get an annual statement. What a joke!
After being unable to get a statement in October, just after Redundancy, I needed my statement for the ATO to lodge a case against my employer, so I could check and outline the periods of unpaid. Because I thought October was a far stretch, I ended up opening an account with Hesta, who are organising for my Super to be moved across.
I don’t understand how it’s taken 5 months to get an annual statement. And, instead of emailing it, they sent it by registered post! They have my email address, it’s at the top of the statement! Pathetic.

Core Strategy fund fraud – Joined Rest and their subsequent actions likely involve financial fraud to limit losses on their Core Strategy fund by milking new rollovers . . . Rest’s refusal to address the urgent issue and/or freeze my account shall… Read more
not release Rest from its obligation to repay the loss in value of my rollover which loss has increased from $700 to $846 today. Please also note the following arising from our reading of “We’ve set you up in our Core Strategy investment option”. If the decreases in my rollover value from 165,502 to $164,802 then $164,656 today is due to a decline in Core’s value: 1. Rest fully know the minute status of Core and would fully know if value is declining in real time. 2. Setting-up new members in a declining fund is wilfully negligent and immoral. 3. At the very least, Rest must give reasonable notice to a new member rolling-in that Rest’s default fund Core is losing money. 4. No one of sound mind would roll into a losing fund. 5. If the above is what’s occurring then it’s a strategy with criminal intent to lessen Core’s declining value. 6. The ‘Default Option’ listed twice on Rest website clearly seeks to impress new members that Rest’s decision to “set you up” in Core is good for you. No warning or caution accompanies these images (see attached).
3rd Email of 29/6 (in response to computer generated acknowledgement of switch): The reason I just switched from core to cash is to lower the risk of further fraudulent or unauthorised deductions from my newly rolled funds. Transaction History attached clearly show there is illegal activity on my account because fees total $3.75 not $700! Given the switch will not take effect until 3/7/24, please immediately freeze my account until the missing $700 is returned and my account is secure. I’ve also changed my password (likely pointless as the wrongdoing appears to be internal at Rest). Regards,
2nd email of 29/6: I Just switched from core to cash to lower risk of further fraudulent or unauthorised deductions from my newly rolled funds. Will you immediately freeze my account until the missing $700 is returned and my account is secure. Transaction History attached clearly show there is illegal activity on my account as fees total $3.75 not $700! Also why are there two admin fees on the same day? Regards,
1st email of 29/6: Just logged in to choose my investment and found $700 missing from yesterday’s rollover (from SMSF ABN _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _). Please return the money immediately! Regards,

Locked Out for Months – Shocking Service from REST Super Review: My elderly parents-in-law have been locked out of their REST Super accounts for months, with no resolution despite endless calls and promises. REST has removed the “Forgot Password /… Read more
Reset Password” link from their website, so the only option is to phone them. Every time they send a reset link, the new password is accepted during the reset process, but when you try to use it for the very first login, it fails immediately, forcing you to start all over again.
The customer service is appalling. You’re told to clear cache, delete cookies, try another browser – all pointless. When you ask to escalate, you’re put on hold forever, denied a supervisor, or simply hung up on. After months of this, my parents-in-law still have no online access to their own retirement savings. We have now had to resort to lodging a formal complaint with AFCA just to get this addressed.
This is not just bad service – it’s negligence. Elderly members rely on online access to manage their super, yet REST has failed to provide even the most basic functionality. The stress, frustration, and wasted hours caused by their indifference is unacceptable.
If you are considering REST Super, think very carefully. A fund that cannot provide members with reliable account access, or even treat them with respect when they ask for help, should not be trusted with your retirement savings. We have now raised a complaint with AFCA which I encourage anyone else to do should you have issues with REST.
Follow-up · Never heard back from AFCA however REST eventually got their act together and contacted my Father inlaw and resolved the issue so can only assume they got onto REST. I've been with REST over 21 yrs. I now have 2 accts with REST. access my SuperAccount (on Apps or online) only my Pension Acct. I spoke to Ulysses at the Gold Coast Centre(I asked because he spoke with an accent, not being a racist here). It took more than 30 minutes to resolve my issues. That's fine because I can finally access both accounts without having to log in/log out to access each account. I'm a baby boomer who is not tech savvy. Ulysses patiently guided me through the steps. Made sure I can do it myself without his help. Unlike other customer service people I spoke to a few times with the same problem, they just said: uninstall and install the Apps again. My tech savvy son even tried but to no success. The problem was within their system, which Ulysses has patiently corrected. Over the years, I've been frustrated with some of the customer service staff who just brush off your concerns with excuses. From experience, I think REST has come a long way to improve their act. Ulysses also helped me with personal contribution issue and offered suggestion (being end of financial year). I take my hat off to you for a job very well done. Coming from decades of working in a Customer Service Industry (banking, aged care, retail, volunteering etc) I know what Customer Service is. It's the care/attitude of wanting to help and resolve the problems.
Spoke to Astrid today, super helpful and got everything done with one phone call. Have been a Rest member for about 25 years and they've always been easy to deal with, and the income protection insurance has kept me alive for a number of years. Awesome. Show reply

I am extremely frustrated and exhausted with the service I have received from Rest. I have been trying for months to get a very simple issue resolved — correcting my personal details so I can transfer my super to my main super fund, AustralianSuper. I have contacted Rest multiple times, used the online chat, completed forms online several times,… Read more
and followed the instructions I was given. I even received an email from Rest saying that my details had been updated, but when I logged back into my account, the incorrect information was still there.
Every time I contact Rest, I seem to get a different answer. One person tells me they cannot find or did not receive something, another tells me the form was completed incorrectly, and then I am told to complete another form or contact someone else. I feel like I am constantly being passed from one person to another without anyone actually taking responsibility for resolving the problem.
Most recently, I was told that both my surname and date of birth are incorrect on my account. I was also told that one of my previous forms was considered invalid because the date was entered incorrectly. I understand that mistakes can happen, but after months of contacting Rest and repeatedly trying to follow their instructions, I desperately need someone to actually help me resolve this from start to finish.
This should not be such a complicated and exhausting process. I am simply trying to correct my personal information and transfer my own superannuation money to AustralianSuper.
I am genuinely asking: Can someone at Rest please take ownership of this issue and help me finally resolve it? I am exhausted from repeating the same story, completing forms, receiving conflicting information, and still seeing the same incorrect details in my account.
Coming up to financial year end I visited my REST Super account and discovered overcharging fees had been credited to my account. No comment, no advice, no apology! I am about to lodge a formal complaint with AFCA.

Not even meeting their processing timeframe is pathetic. If this is how they operate i need to ask, is my money safe with them? An update, today I get another (this is the 4th) request to verify my identity! And advice from customer service, it will take up to 5 days to process!!! I don't think I'll ever get my money. As of 09/04/2026 - 3 weeks after writing this review, REST still have not transferred my super into my SMSF despite having all of the information they require - which has been confirmed multiple times over the phone. The only thing they do well is speak to clients in a patronising tone and transfer client calls from one person to another, never resolving anything and proving complete incompetence.
