As a full-time working couple, we designed this home for a large and busy family, which meant we had many specific requirements. Like many people undertaking a knockdown-rebuild for the first time, we felt a mix of excitement and uncertainty, and looking back, it’s incredible to see how far we’ve come. H&H’s process design was the first thing that caught our eye. It is transparent, customer-focused, and fit-for-purpose. From requirements gathering, designing and planning, all the way through to final delivery, we could clearly see how each step and task was tracked, completed on schedule, and delivered to a high standard. The project management and communication app they use (Basecamp) is also a great tool.

Most importantly, however, is the people. H&H should be proud of its wonderful team - we couldn't have achieved each milestone without everyone’s amazing works. There were countless discussions, meetings, documents, estimates, quotations, and design revisions etc. Our Project Manager, Mel, was no doubt super experienced and professional, keeping everything well-organized, planned, and clearly communicated to ensure our project stayed on track through the design, planning, and DA approval phases. The Estimator team and Designer team, always very helpful as well!

And when we faced some unexpected challenges, such as BASIX requirements that impacted our initial design footprint and budget, and an out-of-control issue with Ausgrid that nearly became a show-stopper at a critical stage, Morgan truly shed light on these problems!! The way he analyzed the issues for us and provided solutions and options that minimized both financial and time impacts left us deeply impressed. To be honest, without Morgan, we might have given up at some point! So, a huge thanks to Mel, Morgan and everyone else in the project team!

I’ll admit that by the time construction started, we were a little worried about how long everything would take. However, that’s when H&H really blew us away, and the final handover honestly exceeded our expectations! -- A massive thank you goes to our Site Manager, Nic Pianta, who made what we thought would be the most stressful stage feel surprisingly smooth. Every construction milestone was well-planned and completed, updates were regular, communication was clear, and we never felt left in the dark.

What stood out most was how involved Nic was. He visited the site regularly, was always available when we had questions, and genuinely cared about getting things right, not just getting them done. We had very few concerns during construction because everything was so organized and well-delivered. Like any build, there were a few small hiccups along the way mainly around suppliers, but Nic handled them seamlessly. He was always one step ahead, kept us informed, and resolved issues quickly and professionally before they became a worry for us. That gave us immense confidence throughout the build. The quality of the finished home is also fantastic. Even our private building inspector commented that there were significantly fewer defects than what they usually see, which truly speaks to the high standards Nic and H&H team delivers.

Building a home is a long journey, but looking back now, every step was worth it. We’re so grateful to everyone at H&H, and especially to Nic, for helping turn our ideas into a home our whole family will enjoy for many years to come!

to project manager turnover, the build was completed with no major defects and construction took just over a year from the slab pour. Any updates to selections were promptly communicated. The project manager or general manager responded quickly to my queries during the build and provided solutions to keep the build progressing.

There were a few small issues discovered after moving in, such as chipped paint, some missed gaps in architraves, and a missing door stop, which were fixed within a couple of weeks by the maintenance team who are very responsive.

with the understanding that work would commence promptly and progress would be steady. Unfortunately, this has not been the case.

Beechwood's salesman at their Box Hill office was commendable, offering reasonable pricing and flexibility in design amendments. However, the planning and design team have proven to be extremely slow and inefficient. Over the past two and a half years, we've had to consistently push them for every minor detail, as they seem unable to handle simultaneous activities or take a proactive approach.

Responses to our questions, clarifications, or requests for small design changes can take anywhere from four to five weeks, even with our frequent follow-ups. Without our persistence, these matters would likely be ignored indefinitely. The salesperson, who initially promised control over the process, appears to have no influence. Despite their promising words, actions from their staff are lacking.

Moreover, the frequent changes in staff have required us to repeatedly explain our project from the beginning, leading to numerous errors and lost data, including colour and appliance selections. This has been a frustrating and exhausting experience, leading me to consider terminating the project multiple times over the past two and a half years. However, I've refrained from doing so after taking some time to reconsider.

The remaining journey with Beechwood seems too long, and I find myself lacking the energy and time to continue. The planning process has been delayed by over two and a half years, and the estimated costs have increased several times. It feels as though Beechwood relies more on customers' deposits than on building houses, as we rarely see reviews from customers who have received completed houses. In summary I have wasted my money and two and a half years of time with Beechwood for no outcome.

But there are lots more to come. Everything is documented.

We want to share our own experience with Provincial Homes. We have a very bad experience with them. Homes. Make sure you do your due diligence and I mean it. They have [Content Removed]. And we're making a complaint to the relevant authorities. They promised they can get an approval quick with CDC, yet here we are 10 months later and still going and they kept asking for more money each time, it is not even close. They' said that it is but they said that 3 months ago and they just keep leading us along asking us to fork out more money each time with no end in sight. They'll tell you it's in the contract, but I'm sure the contract doesn't say a company to circumvent the system so they can get money from you. We've paid a lot of money to the third parties under their instructions some of which weren't yet required and been very co-operative until the very last minute.

They said the CDC is going to be lodged within 4 weeks after signing the contract. Ummm...it was more like 6 months and 10 months later here we are with nothing but promises.

There is another development just down the road (literally) through DA that was approved within 5 months. They will say (..excuses) that every house is different. We're talking between a Duplex and a Duplex here.

We were going to use our retirement funds and didn't use the bank because we're too old to get the loan so we didn't have the bank looking after our backs and they took advantage of that! They never gave us a proper explanation with the contract. I believe they just want to get our feet through the door and get our 5% and worry about the issues later.

And there were a lot more surprise we learned during these times dealing with Provincial, a simple swap could become extremely expensive. For example when we wanted another set of bricks, the price they gave us is like if we were to buy them ourselves at retail price, when checking online, with very little or no credit given for the other set. And when we were given a fee for a job through their contractors they were 6 times more than the one we ended up using. I'll also mention they didn't like it when I used the word [Content Removed], they prefer margin. Though in the contract it says 20%.

There's more to come. But let's just say [Content Removed], there were a lot of lack of transparency on many things towards us we even presented them with proof. And we feel they were using us or we're being punished, why we don't know other than not using the contractors or engineers recommended by them because the price difference are so massive.

Be very careful, be very very careful. Despite the other glowing reviews, you don't know how many people are afraid to voice their opinion probably because they don't want repercussions or I hear others blocked. This review itself was pending for a few days which never happened before even though the receipt was submitted.
